Hi Guys,
I think the title says all...
I have used organic deodorized shea butter a couple of time now and it works very well. Does the fact that it's deodorized mean that it's not unrefined? And if yes, what's the problem?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
@Morexp, It is my understanding the main objection to refined shea butter has to do with the chemicals which are used in the process and what it does to the product. We don't really know what trace minerals/compounds are stripped from the natural shea butter nor do we know what trace chemicals remain in the treated product and what the long term effects on the body those chemicals may have. Unfortunately we may be defacto test subjects when it comes to long term health effects from some of these personal lubricants, perhaps there's nothing to be concerned about perhaps there is, it is your personal choice how to proceed.
Good Vibes to You!
Thank you for that prompt response, rumel.
Actually, I bought a small amount (40 grams) of this shea butter to try before reading here that it needed some unrefined. Since I really like this lube, my next purchase will be unrefined shea butter.
Well, thanks for sharing something on this. I never had undefined shea butter for my skin or hair. But I had a refined off-white or ivory-colored fat that has been extracted from the nuts of the Shea Tree in Africa direct to my skin. Shea Butter is mostly used in the formation of cosmetics in the cosmetics industry for skin and hair. This is mainly used in products like lip gloss, moisturizers, creams, hair conditioners, and emulsions.
Well, I have been using unrefined organic shea butter for 6 months now and I am very happy with it. I was tired of silicone based lubricants and wanted something more natural. I also briefly tried coconut oil, but it was a little too disruptive to my intestinal transit.
