Hi all
I've been a lurker on these forums since about 2011 when I bought the Helix. The first few weeks of my journey were as described in the Aneros wiki. I went from the toy feeling uncomfortable, to a pleasant feeling that amplified traditional orgasms a lot. However, I never really got p-waves or twitching sensations. I abandoned the journey for a few years. Then I decided to re-start the journey sometime in 2016. I increased the fiber in my diet, which helped a lot with cleanup etc, which in turns helps to be calm and relaxed. I also began practicing meditation and deep breathing independent from my Aneros journey. I tried isolating the two sets of muscle groups, contracting in rolling waves, etc. These changes helped to make the toy more pleasurable, but I still never got even to the twitching stage. At this point, I finally gave in to the "This might be the wrong sized toy for me" thought, and decided to try some different toys. I have bought three additional toys since then, with increasing amounts of success, but still no Super-O:

Lelo Loki Wave
This was the first new toy I bought. The size was intimidating at first. As I began using this toy more, I noticed a few sensations. First, as the Loki slides into place, I would feel a wave of pleasure, kind of like an electric current. I assume this was as the toy slide past the prostate. The vibration would dull any anal sensations, so I would only use the come hither mode. Using this mode is the closest I've come to what might be the Super-O. I can feel a sharper sensation where I think the prostate is, and sometimes get the urge to pee. Some days, I've felt a building pressure, but have never gotten over the threshold into a Super-O.

An interesting side-effect of the Loki Wave is that finishing with a traditional orgasm with this toy inserted is very unsatisfying, because it's size appears to interfere with the ejaculation mechanisms. I almost have no semen ejaculated when using the Wave, in contrast to the Aneros Helix, which led to very intense traditional orgasms. A downside of this toy is that it pops out unless you use a belt or underwear to hold it in place. This makes it hard to completely relax with this toy in place.

NJoy Pure Wand
This was the second new toy I bought. At first, I would use the smaller end. I get a similar pleasurable wave on insertion, and the first few times, achieved very intense traditional orgasms with this toy. I think it was the novelty and the cold steel. Over time, the intensity of the traditionals went down, but the toy would still feel really great with traditional masturbation. The only problem was that I could not really feel my prostate with it. Over time, I switched to the large end. As the larger bulb pops into place, I get a very satisfying sense of fullness. The large end also gets me closest to what I imagine a Super-O is, with some quivering and an intense electric current like feeling, but have never been able to get over that edge.

Progasm
The most recent toy I bought is the Progasm. This is definitely better than the Helix, and leads to incredible traditional orgasms. However, it has not been as successful as the Wave and Pure Wand in getting to the sensations in the anal canal and prostate.

Over the years I've tried various techniques to relax and focus; meditation, binaural beats, porn, no porn etc. I feel like I am doing something wrong, or am I am wired wrong or something. While I love the more intense traditional orgasms from anal play, I'm wondering whether the Super-O will remain out of reach for me. Any advice appreciated!

First, (8 yrs. "lurker"), Welcome to the Forums, we're glad you finally made it all the way on board.

It should be noted here there have been other men who have abandoned their Aneros journey for a time due to a lack of success only to return later and make breakthroughs in understanding. You are probably one of those men.

I think you've fallen victim to some Super-O myths, please see Super-O Myths & Illusions regarding 'the Edge' and a couple of other myths. Also please read @neros thread The Myth of Super Orgasm.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong, in fact I think what you have experimented with is all part of the 'rewiring' process. I think all the techniques you have employed have worked and are working for you and your body has responded, your physical rewiring is operational. What I think is the primary stumbling block for you is your expectation of what a Super-O is ! I think you may have already experienced one but was looking for something else and missed it. The threads noted above will go into a little more elaboration on the 'Myth' issues.
Good Vibes to You !

Thanks for the note and for those links, Rumel! I had not realized that there is no "edge" to fall off of with Super-O. After reading those threads, I think you are right; some of the sensations I experienced with the Lelo Loki Wave might have been a Super-O. Thinking back, I felt very drained and exhausted after the sessions with the Wave, almost like I had been working out and was short of breath. I don't think I had the emotional response or sensations described by you and neros. I suppose I should continue my journey, but I'm not sure where to go next. Is it just a matter of continuing the sessions? Is there a progression to be had?

Here's another trap you've fallen into, namely comparing your experiences to those of others. There is no reason to believe your experiences will match up with someone else's experience, there may be similarities but not identical, this is where you need to allow your mind to accept the uniqueness of your experience and its validity. Just because your experience doesn't correspond with my limited descriptions does not make your experience any less valid or significant. In fact, not having any emotional response (ego judgments) can work to your advantage in allowing you to be the objective observer of your own body's responses to prostate massage. This gives you the power to fine tune your focus on the sources of pleasure your body is generating. This sense of detachment is part of the necessary relaxation protocol. Emotional states may arise as a result of your practice, but they are more a by product of the experience rather than an essential element of experiencing bodily pleasure.

I suppose I should continue my journey, but I'm not sure where to go next. Is it just a matter of continuing the sessions? Is there a progression to be had?

No. it's not "...just a matter of continuing the sessions...". Mindless repetition will likely accomplish very little. It is the combination of high arousal, desire, and intent being exercised in a favorable environment, without time constraints wherein progress is made. Yes, there is progression to be had but it may not be linear, the path may loop back, go up over, around and back down, it may be one step forward followed by two steps backward before a leap forward. Your journey will be unique, allow and accept the unique sensations your body provides and be thankful for them, they are yours and yours alone. Expect nothing and let your self be surprised, "Just Let Go !"
Good Vibes to You !
