I know a lot of people have chest breathing. It has no place in any situation. As a beginner, you need to check out how you breath normally. If you do chest breathing, change it.
The reverse breathing is also called Taoist breathing. As a newbie, I wonder if I should practice reverse breathing when using Aneros.
I also heard reverse breathing is dangerous, one should proceed with caution.
I hope the veterans can help me out with breathing technique.
by reverse breathing you mean breathing from ya belly instead of ya chest?
hydrogen,
I can't recall ever having read about a breathing technique being considered "dangerous" except in cases of extended hyperventilation and even then this is usually a self correcting condition. I encourage you to read the Aneros WIKI section on Breathing for a short discussion on this topic. There may be any number of breathing techniques to facilitate the relaxed state of mind and body conducive to effective Aneros usage, if you find one that is particularly effective for you, use it. I find slow deep breathing into the lower lungs (valley breathing) particularly useful as it maximizes diaphram movement. When the diaphram moves it in turn also moves the lower internal organs, even down to the prostate, thus the very act of breathing helps massage the prostate by moving it against the Aneros even if you aren't actively performing anal, rectal or PC muscle contractions.
Keep this simple.
Our objective in "breathing" is to ventilate the body, promote deep relaxation and quiet the mind by eliminating brain noise.
The better breathing techniques are most easily learned & practiced with one's trunk in a vertical position as in Yoga or the Martial Arts. Breathing is directed to the 'belly' (aka Navel Chakra, Dan Tien, Hara).
Once mastered, most Anerosians must adapt those techniques to their favorite position, usually horizontal. See: -- http://www.aneros.com/forum/f6/*what-has-been-your-most-effective-favorite-position-11129/ --
My suggestion is to apply Zazen principles in a straight backed chair or sitting on the floor. Do this for several 15 to 20 minute sessions spread over several days until you achieve a mind-body "nothingness"
There are plenty of Zazen tutorials on the web: Here's a good one: http://www.mro.org/zmm/teachings/meditation.php -- (Chair position had the fewest distractions for me.)
Applying KISS... the only thing I look forward to is Zazen's "thinking about nothing" and try to achieve that within 5 minutes of starting my meditation). I limit my initial self-observations to only the flow of air as it travels up my nose, then turns downward into my windpipe. More deeply into the drill, I shift my focus into my belly/Dan Tien (aka Navel Chakra / Hara). Beyond that I expand focus to include my prostate. For me, anything more complicated gets counter productive and increases my 'brain noise.'
So, I'd suggest not getting tangled up in inhalation/exhalation techniques but if you are curious, here's a discussion that might help (or hinder):

No. chest breathing is bad and should not be practiced. Chest breathing will hinder your Aneros progress.
The normal abdominal/belly breathing is to expand belly during inhale, and compress belly during exhale. The chest remains still. This is Buddha breathing.
The reverse belly breathing is to expand belly during exhale. The chest remains still. The lung diaphragm push upward. The belly, back and pelvic floor expand such create a low pressure (vacuum) inside. This is called Taoist breathing in China.
I believe Aneros practice is more Tao than Buddha.
Sitting on my Aneros, I'm typing this letter. I'm feeling waves of love inside me.
I'd love to share some with you guys on this forum. I can't thank you everyone here enough. Without your experiences and more importantly,
the willingness of sharing your experiences, I couldn't feel so good now.
After my bitter separation and on going divorce fight, my job, mortgage, child support, traveling expenses to see my kids, relationship problem,
weed and sex are the most effective methods so far. Aneros gives me hope. I don't know if Aneros ever replace weed. Knowing other options is available.
And weed plus Aneros brought me to a high that I had ever had experienced a few times in my life time. And I could repeat the experience daily if
I keep working with it.
Thanks again every one.

I'm not so happy about paying $70 for KSMO and realized it's just a simple Taoism breathing exercise. I'm a little irritated.
I can't say it's a total scam. But claiming something brand new and charge people money while the Taoism breathing technique is well known is on the borderline.
The endorsement of Aneros wiki was the main reason I bought the KSMO CD. It should be removed.
hydrogen,
If you really believe KSMO is "...just a simple Taoism breathing exercise." then I suggest you immediately take advantage of Jack Johnston's money back guarantee. Forgo the free individual, personalized analysis of your Key Sound enunciation from Jack himself and skip the bi-monthly chat/coaching sessions he offers to each registered member. It seems pretty obvious you already have a bias established in your mind without even having practiced the protocol.
There are many members here, myself included, who believe the KSMO protocol is highly compatible with and enhancing to one's Aneros practice. It is unfortunate you discredit the concept because you don't understand it. The reference to KSMO is included in the Aneros WIKI for a reason, it is an effective teaching tool toward relaxation and orgasm, as such it will remain until proven otherwise.
I know nothing about reverse breathing, but I gave it a try and started to get some amazing sensations in my groin just from a couple breaths. Is there an article or anything that goes further in depth about the proper way of reverse breathing as well as its benefits? Is it something you try to do only during Aneros sessions or are you trying to use it as your standard breathing 24/7?
