Hey fellow Aneroser:

I have an older Classic MGX and a Classic Maximus that I'd like to keep in my collection even if I have their Trident version.   To me, they are both still very pleasurable but the plastics started showing their age.

I'm thinking of sanding them down and refinishing them with a coat of epoxy resin.  Is this the right finish for their use or is there something better?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your opinion.

I would advise against coating your models with anything as you won't know what potentially toxic/cancer causing agents may be in that coating. The best thing I can suggest would be to buff your models up to a nice smooth finish with the original acetal material retained as the surface finish.

Good Vibes to You!

Yes, a good sanding down and polish would be the best course of action IMHO. To hand polish, I like the plastic abrasive paste for buffing car headlights, it takes a bit of elbow grease but will give great results.

@rumel , thank you so much for your response.  The resin I have is toxic-free and food-safe as per the manufacturer.

I agree that there is nothing like the original material but havingsaid that, what can I use to polish them after light sanding?  Would toothpaste work?

.

I'm curious as to what amateur anal toy makers use for finish when they create dildoes or other items on their 3D printers?

@zentai, thanks for chiming in.  I thought of doing exactly that but are these abrasive pastes not toxic?

This should not be an issue, once you are done polishing, clean your device really well with soap and water. The paste I use does not say anything about toxicity, just that it can be an eye irritant. It's probably just a very fine abrasive in a thickened water base, there are not cleaning products or wax in it.

I think you'd be fine using this, I did quite often and I don't think there's any risk here, but make sure you're comfortable with any product you decide to use. Baking soda and water will do a pretty ok job at a semi-gloss finish but it will take a bit of time.

I have no idea if this will be of any help, but I know that people will use coconut oil to whiten teeth, and pull stains from them as well as kill bacteria in their mouth.  They suggest using it 10 minutes in your mouth.  I wonder if soaking the aneros in coconut oil for an hour a day for a week or two would improve it at all?  Polish it a bit, and then soak in coconut oil?  I dunno, just a random thought i had lol

We are seriously delving into some Red Green shit at this point!  If the women don't find you handsome they'll at least find you handy!  I had no idea that the ABS plastic would "age" in any noticeable way...maybe they should have used Bakelite? 😉

It's more like antique car restoration, they don't make them like that anymore... 😉

ABS doesn't "age" by itself but years of being cleaned with some bleached soap solutions didn't help keep the finish in pristine conditions.  Over 7 years ago, when I first discovered prostate play, my cleaning process was rude and crude and this lasted for a few year until I started paying more attention to proper cleaning. I'm just trying to save them from the trash can.

There are no holes, pores or air bubbles in the old white acetal models, they are 100% solid all the way through. I would stay away from epoxy resins and other toxic stuff, you really don't want that stuff on the inside.

I would use heavy grit sandpaper and remove the stains from the surface, and then move to finer and finer grit the closer you get to the result you want. Finishing of with very fine grit abrasive compound, for that final mirror finish, followed up with a thorough clean in luke warm water and soap.

@brailleskin, thank you and thanks to everyone who responded.  I will follow your wise advice to not use epoxy but use elbow grease instead.

Good vibes to all

I bought my classic MGX over a decade ago and when I first received it the back surface was a little rough. I used an automotive mildly abrasive rubbing compound to smooth and polish the surface.

Meguiar's® Ultimate Compound, G17216, 15.2 oz., Liquid | Meguiar's (meguiars.com)

Make sure that you thoroughly wash the finished product with soap and water to remove any polishing compound residue and it's petroleum base.  I would use a polishing compound rather than sand paper to prevent even the finest scratches in the surface that could trap and harbor bacteria.

For many of my aneros devices, I used fine grit sandpaper, starting with 1000, up to 2500, and then use a polishing pad and coconut oil, gives a very smooth finish.

If your old friend is looking a bit discolored or has some buildup that won't wash off, making the plastic seem like it's deteriorating, try polishing it before you resort to sandpaper. I have polished all of my hard plastic models, including the original non-Trident versions, with good old fashioned Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish. It works great. Polishing these prostate massages really improves their performance. Just wash the toy 2 or 3 times after polishing it, before use. Do not attempt to polish the Syn versions.

Mother's polish is also great for your stainless steel toys.

Yes, that's a great product. I use it for metal stuff and I would recommend it.
