Hi everyone! So lately I've been thinking about this idea of quitting penile masturbation and only doing prostate massage. The only thing I'm worried about is that I've heard that normal masturbation is supposed to healthy for you and should be done regularly. I was wondering if any of you have ever tried doing this or if it is safe to do given the health benefits potentially being lost. Thanks!

I'm in agreement with @gnawdol, I think you should continue with regular periodic ejaculations to keep the muscles functioning properly and flushing the prostate periodically, though it doesn't need to be as frequent as you have probably been doing in the past. This is somewhat dependent upon your age according to Taoist philosophy. You might find this article and my post on ejaculation frequency informative.

@gnawdol @rumel Thanks for the insight and the articles, maybe having a set period for ejaculations might be more beneficial than completely quitting. I think I'll try every two weeks and experiment with periods as I read more about ejaculation frequency. That being said, do you think that regular practice of prostate massage can/should have an affect on ejaculation frequency?
I have found the 21 day challenge of abstinence from masturbation or Semen Retention a very powerful discipline. @goldenboy has spoken much about this challenge in his blog. This challenge has also boosted the effect of my Aneros sessions and Aless!

Yes, I believe it can have an effect, not in a physical sense but more in a psychological sense, especially once you start having prostate based orgasms. Prostate based dry orgasms are qualitatively different from penile based ejaculatory orgasms and their accompaning refractory period. The non-ejaculatory orgasms are longer lasting and you can have multiples which tend to be more satisfying than the one shot and done ejaculatory orgasms, this phenomenon tends to drive you to wanting that phenomenon more regularly.
To start having these prostate based dry-o's requires a heightened arousal level (please see Are you "aroused"?) and they can't be forced to occur like you can with penile masturbation. Many men have discovered that semen retention practices greatly aid in building and maintaining the high arousal level conducive to generating prostate based orgasms (please see Aneros, Arousal & Abstinence/Semen Retention). To that end you might be interested in taking the 21 day challenge as suggested by @BigGlansDC .

No need to give up masturbation fully. Try different lengths of time of not ejaculating. See how it works for you. See how your body changes every subsequent day of a non-ejaculatory cycle. Then start over. Try 1 day, 2 days, a week, two weeks. As @gnawdol says, we are all different. Semen retention helped me re-wire, but it is no longer necessary for me to enjoy prostate pleasure. I have a fear of continuous semen retention (such as no-fap, or retaining regularly for two to three weeks at a time), as there is a study out there linking low ejaculation frequency to prostate cancer. And whether it is true or not, if all it takes is ejaculating a couple times a week to lower my prostate cancer risks, that is fine fine by me.
Because my Aneros sessions and Aless, and Aneros rewiring, I do not masturbate like I did in my twenties and thirties when I masturbated pretty much six days a week. Now I masturbate once every two weeks or once every three weeks. But whenever I masturbate, I am totally into my Aneros rewired penis which leads to orgasm and ejaculation. My prostate is certainly revved up and produces exquisite sweetness which lasts for the rest of the day! 😉
Thanks so much for the guide @rumel , and its nice to hear all of your different perspectives on this. I think I'll start by doing the 21 day challenge after which I'll try ejaculating once every two weeks and see how it feels from there. I just got my helix trident which is my first aneros so I think the 21 day challenge will be perfect for experimenting with it and solely focusing on prostate sensations without the distractions of porn or my penis. Gonna be a difficult 21 days on willpower alone, maybe I should get a cock cage too haha

You're very welcome to any information I can provide. The 21 day Challenge is an excellent experiment, I'm sure you will discover some interesting aspects of your own sensuality and sexuality in the process. The use of a chastity cage to help reinforce the 'hands off' discipline necessary has been effectively used by a number of your fellow members here, If you perform a search using the keyword 'chastity' I'm sure you'll find many threads discussing this topic.

Well I still have normal sex with my wife and I incorporate kegels into it so my orgasms are really mind numbing. Ive also been able to successfully replicate a HFWO with aneros 3 times now and the last time was the best orgasm of my life. It was so intense I fell asleep with all the cum in my boxers.
I would not stop the ejaculations. One Aneros user here was so intent on achieving a super-o, that he did nothing but prostate massage for months. Then he found that he'd lost his ability to ejaculate during sex with another person. He managed to get it back, but it took him 6 months to restore this ability.
