Hey all. First off, great forum. You guys rock. Secondly, I've been looking at purchasing an aneros for probably 2-3 years. I just haven't done it because 1) as a straight guy, I've had some hangups (dumb, I know); 2) These suckers aren't cheap and I didn't want to spend the money only to never use it; 3) I didn't know which one to buy (they keep coming out with newer and better models); 4) I really didn't want to get discouraged if it didn't "work" as I hoped. But yesterday I said "screw it" and thew caution to the wind. According to the shipper I should have it by Wednesday. I also got more lube and a "lube launcher" (which will not be here the first time I use it). I decided to go with the Progasm (*gasp*).

Now, I'm 28 and have little experience with the back door. Going with the Prograsm was a bold move but after reading a lot of reviews it seems like I'll have the easiest time achieving success with this model (assuming I can get it in without destroying my bum).

I plan on chronicling my journey here, so be sure to check back for updates if you're interested. I do have a few questions, however, as I begin my journey as so many others here have. If you have time, I'd appreciate your expertise.

1. Am I stupid with going with the Progasm with as little experience back there as I have?

2. What's a good way to measure how much lube one will need?

3. Is injecting lube vital? I will not have it my first time but plan on using it when I do get it.

4. What positions (back, side, stomach, etc.) should I begin with?

5. It seems that relaxation is the key, however many have also suggested being erotically charged (masturbating beforehand or viewing porn) also helps. This seems like a bit of a disparity. Can anyone help clarify?

5b. Is it best to use in a quiet setting or while viewing/reading erotica? Is stroking advised during?

6. When should I begin contracting? Is it even necessary with the Progasm?

7. Any other tips from the veterans (and Progasm users)?

Thanks again everyone and wish me luck!

Welcome to the forums, here's my quick take on your questions:

1) From personal experience with the Progasm I'd say it requires the least muscular input to provide stimulation. On the other hand, it will also pound your prostate blue if you can't control yourself. So I suggest plenty of patience and care.

2 & 3) No comment, I don't use liquid lubes.

4) Lying on your side with buckled knees is a good start. Just make sure you have everything set and within your reach, so you don't have to strain yourself once you've inserted the Aneros.

5 & 5b) I'd advise against manual stimulation before and during the session. Mental stimulation on the other hand has done wonders for me. So I'm all for porn. Try to adjust the stimuli to a level that doesn't interfere with your relaxation.

6) Definitely not necessary. Considering your experience, I'd recommend spending your first few session focusing on relaxing the rectal muscles and allowing them to adjust to the bulk of the Progasm.

7) This should be obvious, but avoid any positions that would apply pressure on the Progasm (eg. sitting / lying on your back), as it protrudes the most from your rectum.

Happy to hear your feedback. 🙂

dead_poet,

Welcome to the Forum, I hope you kept the PM I sent you back in May when you first joined, it had some tips and hints to get you started. I wouldn't characterize your decision to purchase an Aneros as throwing “...caution to the wind.” but rather say that you are bravely embarking on a wonderful new learning adventure. A journey through the sensuous mind you have not yet experienced.

That's a nice idea to Blog your learning progress here. Here's my response to your questions :

1.) NO, you are not stupid going with the Progasm, however you need to be aware of associated issues with its use, especially by a new user. Because of its size and your anal inexperience you should make sure your anus is very relaxed prior to and during insertion. Taking a hot bath or shower prior to your Anerosession can help with this aspect. Performing an anal massage with a well lubricated finger after the bath will further relax the inner and outer anal sphincter muscles. Use copious amounts of lubrication! As a new user you can't have too much lube for your initial sessions. Use a slow “scooping” motion while inserting your Progasm, go slow, remember to be taking easy relaxed deep breaths. Slightly bearing down with your rectal muscles (as if having a BM) while inserting will help as well.

2.) The “lube launcher” may be graduated to indicate amounts of lube one may inject. I would recommend for your initial Anerosessions to use 5-10 ml. (1-2 teaspoons) of injected lube and a well lubed Aneros and well lubed anus.

3.) I believe you should NOT try your first insertion without the injected lube. Wait for your lube launcher to arrive so you may employ that device to provide necessary internal lubrication. You want to make sure you take all the precautions you can to assure your first experience is a comfortable one. As you become more experienced and comfortable with insertion and usage, you will be able to decrease the amount of lube needed to be injected. Possibly to the point of not injecting any.
4.) The side position is a good one to start with, but any position that allows you to comfortably relax without anything interfering with the movement of your Progasm will also work.
5.) Relaxation is very important to the process but high arousal levels prior to starting your Anerosession are essential for achieving Super-O's. Masturbation (not to the point of ejaculation), viewing porn, reading erotica, listening to erotic and/or sensuous music/sounds, fantasizing, etc. all can contribute to raising your arousal levels. You should know your Aneros device is a better arousal amplifier than it is an arousal generator, so don't expect yourself to get horny from inserting your new toy. You should make sure the environment in which you will be having your session is as stress free as possible, where you will not be disturbed or bothered by others or otherwise distracted for the extended time period of your session. Until you have crossed over into the Super-O experience, I advise against penile stimulation. Please read 'Cockadoodle's - Penis, NOT! thread for the reasoning here.
6.) The Instructions advise relaxing for 10-20 minutes prior to beginning contraction, this is probably as good a time interval as any to begin with, remember there are no 'hard and fast' rules when it comes to Aneros use. I recommend you experiment with numerous techniques to find the combinations which are most effective for you.
7.)
READ THE WIKI – There is a huge amount of great information compiled there which will quickly advance your learning and understanding of these wonderful little devices.

GOOD LUCK and GOOD VOYAGING

Great advice guys, thanks so much. I had forgotten about the Wiki. Lots of great info there. Very extensive. Almost overwhelming.

Rumel, the link you sent from Cockadoodle does not seem to be working.

I looked and the package is out for delivery. Ahh!

dead_poet,

I'm sorry about the broken link, here is the current link - http://www.aneros.com/forum/f5/penis-not-13035/ - I've changed it in my prior post as well. I guess this is just another bug in the forum transition process.

P.S. While the WIKI may appear overwhelming, take heart, you don't have to try and read it all at once. the most important sections of particular interest to new users are "Aneros Basics", "Getting Started" & "The Super-O".

Well, my first session is in the bag. It would be easy to call it a failure or at least a disappointment but I know from reading not to get discouraged, especially so early. Here is how I proceeded. Comments/suggestions welcome.

First off, before I even opened the Progasm packaging I knew it was going to be large. I just wasn't prepared for HOW large it was. My eyes went wide and I was more than a little intimidated. However the packaging provided a nice reassurance with a motivational: "Have Courage" stamped into the side. That made me smile and helped put me at ease. I gathered the necessary materials: lube (ID), lube syringe, towel, aneros, confidence and computer and placed them on my bed. I then emptied myself and took a long, hot shower to try and calm my nerves. After drying off I made my way to the bed. I was already aroused after edging for a week without cumming but decided to do a bit more to ensure I was as sexually charged as possible. After edging for a few minutes I decided it was time.

Taking a deep breath, I filled the syringe and injected some lube. It was surprisingly cold and was an odd sensation, unlike anything I've experienced (obviously...due to my butt inexperience). Not unpleasant, just odd. Next I squirted some lube onto the Progasm, taking care not to get any on the tabs. I erred on the side of too much rather than too little for my initial session. Coating it generously, I then put a few drops on the entrance to my butt for good measure. Taking the advice of many, I positioned myself on my side with one leg pulled up towards my chest. Taking deep breaths I inserted the Progasm slowly. To be honest, I was greatly surprised by how relatively easily it slipped in. It probably took me 3-5 minutes to get it all the way to the hilt but there came a point where I didn't know what was going on and the last few inches drew up into my body on its own. That was an alarming experience but I went with it.

Due to my positioning I didn't know (and don't know) if I positioned the tabs correctly, however. Staying on my side I just tried to take it all in and become accustomed to the feeling. I expected it to be a very full feeling and slightly uncomfortable. It really wasn't either of those things. It felt surprisingly natural, for lack of a better word. Early on as my body was adjusting I had a few involuntary contractions that took me by surprise; it was as if my body was either quivering in anticipation, excitement or fear. Unfortunately, these weren't pleasurable contractions. They weren’t painful…they just were (if that makes sense). I hope that's not an indication of how all my experiences will be. Is this normal? I haven't read about non-pleasurable involuntary contractions.

Anyway, I remained on my side and took deep belly breaths through my nose and out through my mouth. In response I received a couple more involuntary, non-pleasurable contractions. I actually felt these more on the outside or closer to the surface than I did on the inside, if that makes sense. After an hour or so I began shifting positions (on stomach, other side, all fours, back with legs pulled up, etc.) and started some voluntary contractions of varying intensity and duration. Again, I wouldn't consider these pleasurable and they were a bit uncomfortable after awhile. Nothing painful, but certainly not pleasurable.

After 60 minutes or so I began watching porn/reading erotica. After a bit I was getting slightly disheartened. I thought perhaps the tabs were misplaced; so I decided to remove the aneros and try again. It did surprise me that removing it was actually more cumbersome/uncomfortable than inserting it. After washing with soap and warm water I returned to the bed. This time I inserted the Progasm while laying on my back with knees drawn up so I could kinda see where the tabs were going. There's not a whole lot of room for error and I found it's actually hard to mis-position them (at least with the Progasm), unless the tabs get slick with lube. So I don't think that was the problem. After re-inserting I once again relaxed, tried the deep breathing, contractions of varying length and intensity, etc. I got similar results. The only difference is that a few times I felt something deep inside rubbing. While again I wouldn't consider this pleasurable, it felt better than either the voluntary or involuntary contractions that occurred to this point. I tried focusing on this to see what would happen and actually surprised myself by starting to get an erection. Unfortunately this didn't last long.

To this point I actually did not feel aroused in the slightest, something I did not anticipate. Going into this I was, however I seemed to lose this arousal with the insertion of the aneros. Is this normal? I suppose one could chalk this up to a feeling of uneasiness and the new physical feeling the aneros provided.

After 30 more minutes or so of this I was done.

To sum up...

-Entered with an open mind, no expectations, relaxed, clean and showered.

-Pre-lubing and internal lubrication was probably a good idea.

-Insertion of the Progasm wasn't as cumbersome, painful or uncomfortable as I anticipated.

-The feeling of the Progasm fully inserted was surprisingly comfortable and, strangely, almost natural.

-My arousal seemed to drop with the aneros inserted, even while reading erotica/watching porn.

-I felt two distinct contractions, internal (deep), which were more mild, and external (surface), which were more intense. Neither produced what I would consider “pleasure.”

-I tried various positions and varying degrees/duration/intensity of voluntary contractions with little affect (if any).

- Extracting was a bit painful and I felt a very mild burning sensation while doing it (has not really happened since).

Questions....

1) Is there a difference between what I'm calling "surface contractions" and "internal contractions?" I'm defining surface contractions as sensations closer to the tabs of the aneros and internal as ones felt deeper. Should I be concentrating on one over the other?

2) Are all contractions (voluntary and involuntary) supposed to be pleasurable?

3) Is it normal to have your arousal drop off after inserting the aneros?

I'd love to hear some input on how you thought this went and suggestions for my next session. Thanks!

-Eli

Hey, dead_poet, glad to see you're starting with such enthusiasm. We're here, as you know to support you fully on you exploratory journey, and encourage you.

Your summary is excellent, although I don't see where you took time to give yourself a quick enema to cleanse your rectum. Personally, I never indulge without doing so. I recommend it for cleanliness and for clean up. Just makes the whole experience better, IMHO.

For longer sessions, I always recommend prelube. It just makes everything work better. Now, having said that, don't get carried away. About 2 cc of most lube should be sufficient in most cases. It's not a big area that's being lubricated, and too much can have negative consequences if one starts getting excited. Early-on in my experience, I've blown lube across the room, literally! (One of those funny stories I should tell one day.)

As far as comfort goes, I think the Progasm is the most comfortable of all of my Aneros toys. I say this because I can use it every day, or even multiple times a day without any discomfort or soreness. I love my Progasm. I just got back from an out of town trip where I had quite a bit of free time...needless to say, I had multiple sessions, morning and evening, and just loved the results.

Ahhh...arousal. Well, I'm in the camp that says arousal is simply not necessary, and may, in some cases, actually detract from the experience. Many here will tell you that an erection is absolutely not necessary for Aneros enjoyment. In fact, in my case, I am never erect or even highly aroused (other than my own high anticipation of pleasure) when I begin a session. So, don't worry about being aroused or even horny.

Oh. About porn. I'm one who feels it is counterproductive. Porn is focused on the "old" view of male sexuality, that of ejaculatory orgasm. No? How does every porn film you ever watched end? Hmm? Some form of ejaculation by the guy. The whole point of the porn, get the guy to come. On top of that, porn is poison to the mind and soul. It is degrading to both men and women, spiritually void, and inhumane. It exploits the worst in us, rather than encouraging that which is noble and uplifting. In short, it's foul, ugly and not enriching to humanity.

This is absolutely the opposite of what Aneros is all about, d_p.

You simply must understand, IMHO, in order to advance with your new toy, that you're trying to reach a new place with your Aneros. Forget about the norm, and focus on a new paradigm that frees you from thinking about your penis, and refocus on the idea that orgasm can be so much more, and so much more fulfilling than the usual 15 seconds of "joy" associated with ejaculation. With Aneros, you can, and hopefully will, realize that you can have profound orgasms that can last, literally, for hours. Get it?

So, to answer your question, maybe a bit differently than you expect, your arousal level will probably change. It'll change from traditional arousal which manifests as an erection, to a new level of arousal that centers on your prostate...one which is far more exciting and rewarding. Many of us do not experience erection during Aneros sessions. None at all, and yet experience the wonder of prostate orgasms...countless orgasms without an erection. So don't worry about it. It's normal if that's what you mean by loss of arousal.

Contractions may be either voluntary or involuntary. Since you're a new user, I suggest that you work with gentle voluntary contractions, working on both your PC and anal sphincter contractions. Both sets of muscles will be brought to play as you advance. I wouldn't be too concerned about trying to realize pleasure from either tab on your Progasm. In fact, I've cut the k-tab (back one) off my progasm, just leaving the P-tab in place. This allows for much greater motion and more direct stimulation of my prostate. Works for me. Personally, I get almost nothing from the tabs on any of my Aneros models. It's no big deal if you don't either, IMHO.

So, man, have a good time. And by the way, take your time. Don't expect too much for a while. Like others here, I took months before I started really getting my juices flowing with Aneros. You may be one of the fortunate few who experience prostate orgasms early-on in your journey, but don't expect it. Leave yourself open to enjoy the rewiring process.

But remember this. It's truly worth the work. Becoming a multiple orgasm male is so rewarding and so spiritually enriching that words fail me in trying to describe it. Forget about orgasm as you've always known it. Build yourself toward the ultimate reward of MMO. And then realize that you're not at the end of your true journey, but only at its beginning.

dead_poet,

The process of "awakening" your prostate varies from individual to individual, so in that respect you are like many other men who seemingly do not “feel” much in their first few sessions.

Though you said you Entered with an open mind, no expectations, relaxed, clean and showered.” It is nearly impossible to not have some expectations as evidenced by your later statement “Insertion of the Progasm wasn't as cumbersome, painful or uncomfortable as I anticipated. If you anticipated something then that is the same as an expectation. You said “My arousal seemed to drop with the aneros inserted, even while reading erotica/watching porn.” I found reading erotica or attempting to watch porn during a session distracting to the process of focusing on the pleasure sensations but if it works for you then use it.

In response to your Questions:
1.) IMO, you should not be concerned about the different types of contractions you may experience during a session. At some point in time just about every muscle in your body will have gone through some responsive orgasmic contraction as a result of your Aneros use, hence the term “Full Body Orgasm”.
2.)
I don't know if all contractions are “supposed“ to be pleasurable or not. They just occur, sometimes they are pleasurable, sometimes not. Many men have described quite intense muscle quivering and quaking but without associated commensurate pleasure. I think the emphasis some men ascribe to obtaining involuntary contractions misses the point of focusing on the pleasure being generated. The involuntaries are just an orgasmic response pattern not the goal in and of themselves.
3.)
If, by “arousal”. you are speaking of a penile erection, know this, erections may come and go for no apparent reason and it has no impact on your ability to experience pleasure.

All in all I would say you probably had a good introductory session. You hit the first six Milestones listed in the Aneros WIKI . Your first few sessions are mainly going to be about just getting comfortable accepting your new massager. As you awaken your prostate new sensations will begin to emerge, it is a grand adventure you have embarked upon, let it unfold for you in a gradual, relaxed manner.

I should clarify that while I very much tried to enter my first session with no expectations, the mere fact that I bought this to experience new and pleasurable sensations does make that darn near impossible. So I apologize for the contradiction. I probably did anticipate some things despite my best efforts.

It's interesting to hear your thoughts on arousal and porn. I actually only turned to it just to see if it would generate anything. To be honest, it didn't and I found it distracting. I'm thinking the next time I'll either just read some literotica or forget it entirely (which is the way I'm leaning). Though obviously I didn't do enough research because I thought arousal or some kind of visual/auditory stimulation was recommended. I also mean "arousal" in this instance as a feeling of being horny as opposed to having an erection. I know from reading that erections aren't necessary (though they may come and go). However I need to remember that erections do not necessarily mean something is "working."

To the point that I need to forget about conventional orgasms: I knew this going in and am in the process of trying to erase my brain, but I'm sure it's going to be a slow process.

Regarding lube, I have no idea how many CCs I'm using as my Lube Launcher (which is still a ridiculous name) doesn't have units on it. The first time I used 3/4ths of it but maybe I'll back off to 1/2 next time.

I shall forget about my penis.

I won't worry too much about the types of contractions I'm doing I guess. I'll focus on both.

I shall not worry that I have yet to experience pleasure from my aneros, despite some involuntary contractions (I originally assumed pleasure was automatically derived from involuntary contractions).

I'm still curious as to this "prostate awakening," and will continue to chronicle my journey here. Other thoughts, comments, suggestions are welcome. Thanks so much for the input so far.

-Eli

dead_poet,

I know it is difficult not to have expectations, we all do upon starting this journey, especially after reading all the amazing testimonials here and elsewhere. It is quite natural to be desirous of similar pleasure effects and being men we are pretty accustomed to the instant gratification traditional masturbation affords us. The route to the Super-O, however, requires us to learn new techniques and alter our previous thought patterns.

There is absolutely no need to try to erase any of your prior thinking (you really can't do that anyway). This is about learning a new, additional, sensory pathway to orgasm. The term you will often hear on this Forum is “rewiring”, this doesn't mean you need to cut off old circuitry it means developing new nerve path/synapse connections. Yes it is a paradigm shift in thinking away from traditional masturbatory practices but it doesn't preclude you from still enjoying those past techniques as well. The Aneros experience is about expanding your sensory envelope not about restricting it. Every bit of knowledge you have possessed before starting this journey you may retain. Hopefully, you will, in the course of your experience, drop or alter some of the myths surrounding male sexuality which prove to be blockages for you.

A prostate awakening is about learning to seduce your prostate, through gentle massage, into generating exquisitely delightful, yet subtle waves of pleasure. While learning the techniques for doing this you are also learning to tune into and read your body's sensory language in a manner probably new to you as well. You may become quite aware of the flow of energy throughout your body in ways you have never imagined before.

Good grief, the wall of text! Out of all the forums I've frequented, this one could definitely use a separate summary box for each post.

Seducing your prostate. I like that.

And Rod, some things just take more verbiage to get points across. Personally, I really like it when someone takes the time to carefully structure an answer rather than just either ignoring a plea for help or worse yet, giving bad advice.

This forum IS different. This whole discussion of Aneros is different. Rewiring requires a great deal of input from multiple sources, IMO, and sometimes that takes the form of a deeper discussion, and deeper discussions may not always be dealt with briefly.

But I'll keep it in mind, nevertheless.

C
