p-tab doing nothing?

Hi everyone. I've had my Helix for about a year using it off and on with minimal success. Sometimes I have some good sensations, but I've never gone beyond it just sort of feeling generally nice (no involuntaries or p-waves or anything like that). For the most part that's okay, I knew it could take a while and am enjoying what little amount of nice sensations there are, but I would like to progress further. One thing I wonder about is that I've read that the placement of the p-tab over the "sweet spot" is very important, but this seems to present a problem for me. First off, I'm not at all sure where my sweet spot is. I've tried feeling around with my fingers applying pressure or rubbing different places in that area, but nowhere really feels different than anywhere else. And once the helix is in, the p-tab seems to do nothing. Half the time it hardly even makes much contact with my skin unless I have an erection in which case the area swells enough that it makes contact, but even then I don't feel anything from that area. I see the mechanics of it acting as a pivoting point for the device, but as far as sensations go the p-tab might as well me nonexistent.

Do you guys have any advice? I'm mainly wondering about this p-tab issue, but as a less specific concern I'm also wondering what I can do to progress to the next level. I didn't worry about my lack of progress for a long time since I knew that this can take quite a while for some people, but at this point it is starting to get a little troubling.

Any help or advice that anybody can give me would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

It sound like you are still working toward the great feelings the toy can give i myself am still looking to achieve the Super-O with great success and great orgasms. I at first also thought it didnt do much for the toy and the feelings it provides but as i have progressed i am more familiar with the toy. I now can notice during my peaks of a session i can feel the pressure and pleasures of the P-tab, it took awhile but i think i started noticing the effects it had when i started telling my self how good the P-tab felt on me and i could start to feel the slight movements it makes, in the end i now love the P-tab as i do notice some great sensations from it.

I don't feel much in the way of pleasurable sensations directly from contact at the sweet spot with the P-tab. The sweet spot itself is a somewhat more sensitive spot about 2/3 of the distance from the anus to the back of the scrotum for most, but in my case I can only feel it as being the spot where the Aneros pivots during the involuntary contractions that pull it inward to massage my prostate.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding or trying to identify the sensations you feel from the P-tab making contact there. Just relax and let the Aneros position itself naturally and get those involuntaries going.

Oh if only it were that simple, but after a year I've still not experienced any involuntaries 🙁

I started out with the Helix but made very slow progress with it and after about 6 months got a Eupho and the feelings started coming pretty rapidly. I wouldn't suggest that model for everyone just starting out with trying to get feelings going, but using another model might help at this point.

And would you recommend the Eupho if I did decide to try something else? I hear nothing but good things about the Progasm, but then again that thing seems like a lot to handle.

EDIT: Also wow, the Eupho is expensive 🙁

I wouldn't necessarily jump to the Progasm. I have one but get the least sensations from it. Yes the Eupho is expensive, but in my case, as with many others, "less is more" when it comes to size issues. How exactly do you do your sessions? I started making progress when I identified the PC muscle contractions (the contractions you use to cut off urine flow mid-stream--not the anal "pulling in" contractions) and while relaxed on my back gently held those contractions for a half minute or so at the time seeing if I could get my anal muscle to "flutter". Tickling my nipples while doing this made this happen much more easily and soon I was able to get involuntary rectal contractions to come where your rectum without voluntary muscle control over it yourself grips and sort of "sucks in" the massager. It's this movement of the massager against the prostate that gets the P-waves and eventually the orgasms to start coming.

I've tried a few different ways of doing sessions. I've tried doing regimens of contractions, I've tried lying there focusing on breathing, I've tried lying there and not contracting but just focusing on the sensations, and I've tried the "do nothing" approach of just putting it in and then reading a book or watching a movie. I can try what you're suggesting though to see if that helps at all.

Forcing yourself to relax is definitely a big part of the experience. I put a lot of mental energy into worrying about every little detail before, and eventually I stopped caring, enjoyed myself, and ended up getting the hang of it through a bit of practice. It's well worth the wait in my opinion. 🙂

I've also found that the P-tab is tricky to get right. But it does work nicely in right positions. Position seems to have the biggest impact for me. It's a bit hard to describe the right position, but I'll try. On my back, knees bent (in the air), feet near my butt. Legs wide apart to the sides.

Hint: when it actually works, you should feel slightly desensitizing feeling in your balls. As if you're losing feeling in that spot, your balls become covered by a layer of desensitized flesh. And a distinct feeling in the head of your penis.

By the way, "forcing yourself to relax" sounds contradictory.

Ultimately you can get to super-0 without any Aneros. So the p-tab is not a very important thing you should overly concern about. However, Aneros is a very good training tool for tantric sex. From pure equipment point of view, I'd say another Aneros or a butt plug is a better idea to try than destroying the p-tab on your Helix.

You seem to concentrate on the "sweet" spot. I agree there some point more sensitive and more pleasurable to massage, but it's not an automatic responses. I use penis as analogy. The frenulum of penis is consider the "sweet" spot of penis. But without the erection of the penis, jack hammering frenumlum wouldn't do you any good. Even with a fully erected penis, constantly massaging frenulum without paying tribute to other part of penis wouldn't bring any more pleasure either.

The Aneros wiki has many good ideas like deep breathing and music. Have you followed any of them?

This may sound kind of mechanical, but try this. Warm your massager ahead of time and use what ever lubrication is comfortable and non-irritating for you and then do nothing, i.e., read or whatever for about 10 minutes with it in while lying flat in bed. Then, relax on your back with your knees up and apart, touch anywhere that feels nice except for your scrotum and penis for a minute or so, then start lightly tickling your nipples and while doing so hold a gentle PC contraction (the contraction you'd use to cut off urine flow mid-stream--not a pulling in anal contraction) for about 30 seconds, then relax for about 30 seconds and repeat this about 20 times. That will make for about a 20 or so minute "training session" and do this about three times a week when you've got the time, usually at bedtime, but you're not too tired.

"Listen" to what your body wants to do while you practice this. The first thing I noticed happening was anal fluttering, like the sphincter muscle was quivering and then over time this became accompanied by involuntary contractions where it felt like the rectum was contracting against the massager involuntarily (i.e., no conscious control on my part) and gripping it tightly inside. It's this contraction that drives the resulting P-waves and eventually the warm orgasmic feelings that arise deep in the pelvis that eventually flow out into the penis. It took me a few months once I began to experience these sensations to get to the point the warm orgasmic feelings flowed all the way out to the end of the penis, almost like a burning feeling, and once fully "trained", or "re-wired" those feelings are intensely orgasmic, just like semen is flowing out (one of my better ones recently the other night lasted for 15 minutes continously) but you're actually dry, hence the "dry" or "super" orgasm terminology.

That isn't the way "do nothing" works. It's the opposite of the "contractions" method, but in no way is it ignoring the presence of the Aneros device.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice, I will be sure to try it all.

Just to clarify, though, I don't want it to sound like I'm getting really hung up on the p-tab or that I'm focusing way too hard on it, I just ask because it has been quite a long time since there has been any evident progress and that was the only specific thing I could identify that might be a hindrance.

As this guy says:

I put a lot of mental energy into worrying about every little detail before, and eventually I stopped caring, enjoyed myself, and ended up getting the hang of it through a bit of practice. It's well worth the wait in my opinion. 🙂

I actually feel like I've done a pretty good job of this so far, not really worrying too much about getting anywhere in an individual session or having any particular short-term goals or anything, but rather just enjoying each individual session for what it is. It's just that after a year of using it and still being about where I was a couple of weeks after I started using it, it is beginning to get a little bit frustrating when I look beyond the pleasures of the individual sessions and view the big picture.

I think the P-Tab may be doing more than you think. I am currently learning Shiatsu and energy concepts. There is a meridian (energy pathway or channel) known as the "Conception Vessel" in Shiatsu. This is a YIN meridian which starts in the center of the perineum (the sweet spot that the p-tab massages), runs through the mid-line of the body, and ends on the chin below the lower lip. Now when I use my aneros I am more aware of this energy meridian. I follow the beginning point (p-tab) and press with the palms of my hand over the meridian to the end point. I follow the meridian again with fingers/thumbs with slightly more pressure. While I am also still on my pathway to the Super O, I think this concept has added to my journey. I believe the aneros is a tool that needs to be given more credit for the design than we really show it.

You're right about the Huiyin meridian in Chinese or root charkra in Indian yoga.

The p-tab is important for newbies. However, the constant rubbing of p-tab is a distraction for intermediate and advanced users. Their Huiyin meridian is already open. The priority is to open other meridians.
