Origin and history of the super O?

Browsing this forum and reading the testimonials, one might be lead to believe that the Aneros company invented the Super O,
or the full body orgasm.

I am curious about the origin and history of the Super O, or whatever we want to call it, did it start with a little
plastic device intended for prostate health, or is it much older, even ancient perhaps?

Prostate orgasm is nothing new under the sun, but the full body orgasm experiences that people share in this forum does not
sound like anything i have heard of before (except for female orgasms perhaps)

In the time you took to post this, you could have entered the phrase "full body orgasm" into any search engine and learned how ridiculous your assertion sounds.

Some of you might be familiar with the work of Wilhelm Reich and his theories about orgone energy and what he called orgiastic potency, he claimed that we had a much greater potential for experiencing pleasure than most of us ever get the chance to experience, due to the body armour and sexual inhibitions, however, i believe that for him the male orgasm was still something that ended with ejaculation.

Tantric sex has also nurtured a striving for a fuller orgasmic experience, but the methods for achieving this seems to be out of reach for those who want to have more of a hands on
approach to achieving these states.(Don't think it involved little plastic things up your bum either)

wendigo, I think Pan was on his period and a little cranky. I for one am interested to know now too! How did the Aneros company know about the Super-O, seen as it was first coined by BMayfield? on this forum after the company was established. I know the Aneros started off as health devices, but when was the crossover? Who influenced it?

From what i have read, some customers got unexpected but not unwelcome side effects from using the Aneros. Like i wrote earlier, the concept of full body orgasms is not a new one, but how does the Aneros induced orgasms differ from lets say, the Tantric concept?
I think that any form of penetration of the man would have been alien to the Yogis, as well as any form of masturbation in the absence of the female counterpart.

So, was it Aneros-health users (people who used it for health reasons) that discovered that one could acheive a prostate orga....no, no, it must have been the anal gay community (some gays do not do anal) that knew about prostate orgasms from long ago. But why did they not mention this nor do they ever mention this? Or, do most gays never experience true prostate orgasms like the Aneros can give?

Good thread wendigo.

Well...there seems to be a bit of confusion (at least i am confused!) about the difference between prostate orgasm and anal orgasm.
Yes, prostate orgasms occur, or so i have heard, i have never seen a man ejaculate from being on the receiving end in gay/bi porn, but then again i have not seen it all!
How about anal orgasms? Well it depends on what you call orgasm i guess, some bottom guys seems to be experiencing an extremely intense pleasure all through the act, much more so than under the obligatory cumshots, but i doubt that it is the same thing as the anal orgasms that Aneros users are describing.

wendigo,

I went all the way back to 'B Mayfield's first post trying to find where he originally postulated the term "Super-O" but was unable to find it as there is a gap of time with missing posts. However, in this early post he discusses characteristics of the Super-O. In prior Forum incarnations (and this one too) the official Aneros information called this full body, non-ejaculatory orgasm, a "Dream Orgasm".

There is a little bit of background information about Aneros History to be found in the WIKI. Since prostate massage is an ancient practice, I doubt we will ever know when men first experienced these full body orgasms (be they called "Dream Orgasm", "Super-O" or whatever). I am not convinced this practice is or would have been alien to Yogis. 'darwin' has occasionally asked provocative questions surrounding men's acceptance of anal penetration and the pleasure to be derived therefrom. I too am curious about the evolutionary advantage this rather well hidden biological pleasure source (the prostate gland) conferred upon men. From a purely reproductive point of view there is no reason why the prostate gland need have such a concentration of nerves capable of producing such pleasure surrounding it. Penile stimulation alone is enough to produce pleasurable feelings, orgasms and ejaculations sufficient to procreate.

The fact these pleasure states can only be entered through gentle massage/manipulation while in a relaxed, highly vulnerable, physical and mental state may suggest this has a social 'bonding' value to preserve tribal cohesion and thus help insure the group's survival. This could be one of the evolutionary advantages for a type of bisexual behavior pattern which would predate other cultural and religious practices.

Thank you Rumel, i checked out the links and learned a great deal, but there is still an area of confusion to me, referring to my previous post, would the aim of the ancient prostate massage be ejaculation, either as a direct effect or a secondary effect of the massage? In that case, i guess it is not the same a Super-O then, because the Super-O would not include ejaculation?

An old thread of mine on the issue...

wendigo,

We can have a lot of fun here speculating and trying to second guess what the "aim" of the ancients was for practicing prostate massage. IMHO, they had intuitive knowledge of its healthful effects, biological evolutionary advantages and the pleasure priniple all working together to promote the practice.

Prostate massage's healthful effects have been pretty well documented through the High Island Health website, so I won't address those here.

As has been noted by many men, ejaculation during simultaneous prostate massage produces greater semen volume. Biologically, it would make sense that greater semen volume during male-female intercourse would result in more sperm present. With more sperm present the odds of insemination and pregnancy would be enhanced. Higher birth rates would serve to perpetuate the species. Thus those members successfully reproducing are passing their genetic propensities (instincts) on to future generations as well.

In the course of human evolution, man discovered the pleasure of prostate massage alone without the accompanying ejaculation. Whether this occurred do to his own fingers or the fingers of a mate/partner, we'll never know as this all happened before recorded history. It is very likely that both men and women used dildos in the ancient past as sources for sensual fulfillment.

Dildos in one form or another have been present in society throughout history. Artifacts from the Upper Paleolithic which have previously been described as batons were most likely used for sexual purposes.[7] However, there appears to be hesitation on the part of archaeologists to label these items as sex toys: as archaeologist Timothy Taylor put it, "Looking at the size, shape, and—some cases—explicit symbolism of the ice age batons, it seems disingenuous to avoid the most obvious and straightforward interpretation. But it has been avoided."[8][9]
The world's oldest known dildo is a siltstone 20-centimeter phallus from the Upper Palaeolithic period 30,000 years ago that was found in Hohle Fels Cave near Ulm Germany.[10] Findings of the archaeologists show that ancient Egyptians used dildos 2,500 years ago[citation needed]. Also, these sex toys were known to the ancient Greeks and sometimes depicted in art (see Dildos in Culture).
The first dildos were made of stone, tar, wood and other materials that could be shaped as penises and that were firm enough to be used as penetrative sex toys. Chinese women in the 15th century used dildos made of lacquered wood with textured surfaces. With the invention of modern materials, there appeared the possibility of making dildos of different shapes, sizes, colors and textures.[11] There have been many references to dildos in the historical and ethnographic literature. Haberlandt,[12] for example, illustrates single and double-ended wooden dildos from late 19th century Zanzibar.

From a historical perspective, it would appear taboos and social mores against such practice is a recent phenomenon rising out of the interpretations of various Judeo-Christian and other dogmatic religious teachings. In any event, the experience we (on this Forum) label a Super-O is not a new phenomenon but one whose discovery is obscured in man's evolutionary past. The modern development of anatomically designed massagers has just made this phenomenon more readily available to all men. The fact Aneros (HIH) is a leader in this development should not be interpreted as a claim to having discovered or invented the "Super-O", instead, it is a serendipitous by-product of their wonderful holistic health lineup of massagers. Aren't we all the luckier for it too!
