A couple of years ago, I noticed some minute hairline cracks forming on the P-Tab arm of my Progasm. Since they didn't seem to affect the performance, I decided to monitor them and noticed that there didn't seem to be much propagation. A few months ago, I noticed them again, and thought that it hadn't changed much since the last time I noticed them, and because money was tight, there wasn't much I could do about it. Well, last night, I decided to have a short recliner chair session with my favorite Aneros, my Progasm. I woke up a few hours later, all scrunched up in the chair, and decided to go to bed. After a few minutes in bed, I decided it would be best to go to the bathroom before trying to continue. I removed the Progasm, and sat down to relieve myself, knowing there would be a considerable amount of pent-up gas that needed venting, which there was. When done, I tried to re-insert the Progasm, when the P-Tab arm just snapped off in my hand. Considering that money is still tight, replacing my favorite Aneros anytime soon, is out of the question.
One of my questions is, why make the Progasm out of styrene, which is inherently weaker than the medical-grade plastics in the other Aneros', until the Ice, which is ABS? I noticed that Permatex makes an epoxy specifically for plastics, and it works on styrene; could I insert something like screw threads into it and epoxy it back together and smooth it out? Heating styrene plastic seems to end up badly; any bubbles trapped in the plastic tend to bubble up and burst out. I know it's not permanent, but would it be worth the experimentation? Do any of you guys have any experience about such things?
You could try a solvent weld type glue. I seem to remember that acetone dissolves polystyrene.
I agree with you that the Progasm plastic is on the weak side compared to the plastic used in the other models. Don't bother trying to fix it. I suggest that you contact Aneros support:

They will help you with this. They replaced my Progasm when I accidentally dropped it on my bathroom linoleum floor a few years back, and one of the tab arms broke off.
I suspect this is why Aneros has been appearing to slowly move the Progasm to the Ice line. As they claim it to be unbreakable. I wouldn't be surprised if they phase out the old Progasm.
WOW man! Your progasm BROKE? I'm with you, money is tight and replacing it is a little costly. I think I would lose my mind if I didn't have another one on standby! (at one point I owned the progasm in 3 different colors-I'm a freak).
In light of your situation, I think I may investigate the progasm ice. That should ensure that I never end up with one breaking on me.
Sorry man!
Update
I contacted Aneros support, like Love_Is suggested, and told them the same thing I posted here, and they requested my old Aneros, and sent me a replacement! Granted, it's not an Ice, but it's still an unbroken Progasm!
Thanks, Aneros!
That's wonderful Badger! Aneros continues to impress every single time they have a chance to provide stellar customer service. I was going to offer you one of mine since I have two. One I won in the holiday contest thread. 🙂 Glad to see that all worked out for though. I have no qualms about supporting a company, meaning give my money to a company, that truly supports its products, claims, and customers. Kudos to HIH and Aneros.
