Hi all
I thought it might be interesting, knowing the large percentage of users that cut the tail off their Aneros', to know how many have struck air bubbles when sanding and contouring.
I cut the tail off my MGX but have discovered a number of air bubbles in the plastic that I can't seem to sand out.
I'm concerned about the air bubbles harbouring bacteria. I have tried filling them with Supaglue and will sand it smooth, but has anyone else experienced the air bubble issue and if so how did you fix it?
Cheers
Mr Bater
Hey mrbater!
I have currently 3 that are tailless, including my MGX! (did mine up-close like yours)
I have never encountered any air bubbles, but if you are concerned about bacteria, I would wipe it down with alcohol and a cotton ball! I do this frequently to mine, just for good measure???
Super Glue is a good bet, tho! It was actually used originally (I believe) in Viet Nam to close large open wounds and keep our GI's from bleeding-out! Saved numerous lives!
Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate

mrbater,
Thank you Hlaser99 for the link to wikipedia, which I read and found the following :
“When added to baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) Cyanoacrylate glue forms a hard, lightweight filler/adhesive (baking soda is first used to fill a gap then the adhesive is dripped into the baking soda). This works well with porous materials that the glue doesn't work well with alone. This method is sometimes used by aircraft modelers to assemble or repair polystyrene foam parts.”
I believe the Progasm model is made with polystyrene material, perhaps this will also work well with the acetal plastic that your MGX is made from.
I found a plumbers epoxy impermiable and safe for repairing my broken ptab.

Hi all and thanks for your helpful replies.
I did the Superglue thing and it was moderately successful.
It seems there are still very small air bubbles.
I'm surprised Hlaser99 that you have modified 3 with no bubbles at all.
I'm now rinsing my MGX in bleach after use and washing thoroughly afterwards so I hope that should help.
Thanks again
