So where does everyone weigh in on the subject of male hormonal cycles. Do you think we have monthly ones like our wives? Some "times of the month" it seems the simplest touch sets me on fire and there is little on the mind but sex (even after super O's or intercourse) Then other times it's like "who cares" I'd rather get to sleep. It does seem to me that I've gotten to know the patterns, feelings and timing of the waves and now sometimes I chalk it up to "that time." Anyone?
I do think that men have cycles, perhaps not as visable as a women's but still hormonal based. Because women are taught to be aware of thier bodies, (and cycles) its more evident in their relationships with men. "Oh, she just PMSing....."
The subject of Male Menopause (and understanding hormonal changes), has been gaining more ground in the last few years, and I do beleive there is something to the experience.
Here's an article on the subject that came out earlier in the year.

I absolutely agree with the notion that men have a certain cycle. I dont know if it is monthly, but there is something to it. Like Calboy said, it is not as prominent as a womens, but there has got to be a reason why some sessions are great and others are just so-so. I mean more than a mind element.

Ohmy06,
While I’m sure that our hormone levels do vary on a daily basis and as the news article referenced by ‘calboy’ (thank you!) indicates there is no distinct typical pattern other than aging leading to declining testosterone production. I haven’t noticed any particular cycles in my own life, other than the relief from the ADIDAS * curse due to increasing age. It seems to me that some cyclic activity is likely considering how many other bodily processes have been determined to be of a cyclic nature. I suppose if I were to keep a running journal of my various moods, I might see some sort of pattern, but how that information might benefit me is difficult to say.

🙂 Absolutely! Always interested and enjoy, but peaks for about a week on a lunar cycle. On the opposite cycle I may even rest for three days! No cause-effect between moon and body, but the moon serves as a clock, I believe by design. Now I'm peaking about the third quarter, but my phase gets shifted if I come down with something like a cold.
I'm glad to see you all talking about this. I can very much relate. I've been going through some sort of cycles for as long as I can remember and I've been trying to figure them out. Just as ohmy said, there are times when I'm so orgasmic they come on with the slightest thought. Then there are periods when I feel totally numb and have no sexual desire or interest. The interesting thing about it is that when I'm on the sexual high it last for a few days to a week. That is when I can easily have multiple dry orgasms. I find myself wishing those times would come around more frequently, but then if they did I may never get anything else done! Then I go through periods of days or weeks with just average to no desire whatsoever. I never considered lunar phases or some of the other things you all are mentioning. I'll have to check that out. Thanks.
One thing that I find with myself that effects my sex drive big time is my sleeping / waking patterns. If I oversleep or go back to sleep after I have awaken, I can pretty much count on my sex drive being completely gone for that day. On the other hand, if when I wake I get right out of bed and get my energy and mind going right away, my sexual arousal is up for that day. It's not always an absolute, but it sure happens that way a lot.
Thanks for sharing about this. It's a subject that has had my attention for a long while now and I'd like more answers.
Odd you guys mention this. I seem to have a cycle too. Once a month, about every full moon I get this weird feeling like my skin is crawling and I have to run outside into the woods. I feel all hairy and wild like and have dreams of running on all fours and killing animals and people. The morning's after these events I always wake up outside in a strange place and often have blood on me. What's strange though is I have no injuries so I'm not sure where the blood comes from. It really scares me sometimes. I feel like I'm not in control of my body / life. Does this happen to anyonen else?
Oh sorry...couldn't resist. 😀 😆 The previous post was a joke...of course.
Hey Ohmy. Interesting! I've been on a sudden upswing of the "cycle" for a couple of days now as well. Maybe there is something to the moon effects. Wow!
The moon is our timekeeper. It has no more "effect" than the clock by your bed.
I surely do have a cycle, it's triggered by an ejaculation. I used to think it was physiological and having to do with energy depletion stuff. However the slump comes at days 4 and especially 5 after ejaculation, then there is a rebound at day six, day 7 is quite good and then it basically starts over again although with much lesser intensity. Recently it dawned on me that it's a weekly cycle learned during early school days and therefore it's of emotional nature. Days 4 and 5 relate to thursday and friday when I was tired of it all, day six is long awaited saturday.

Rumel,
That's a good article. It talked about how sex facilitates sleep, something we've all experienced. I've also found that a nipple orgasm also facilitates sleep, probably because it causes a release of oxytocin.
Since I began taking omega-3 fatty acids about nine months ago (with Zaneblue's advice) , my libido has continually run on high. The popular book out now called "The Omnivores Dilemma" by Michal Pollan discusses how corn has become the origin of much of our diet (including meat, poultry, and farmed fish), and as a result we are consuming much lower amounts of omega-3 fatty acids than our bodies were designed for. He claims that a number of problems prevalent in our society - including depression - come from this. Perhaps, as the article suggests, diet has something to do with libido fluctuations.

I think the 'cycles' you and the rest of us experience are related to variables from the day to day such as how much sleep, or exercise, how much recent ejaculation, what you've been eating, as well as brain chemistry and how much 'stuff' has been saved in it for orgasm.
I'll say it again fish oil is likely a prime mover of male or female orgasmic and sexual cycles. Learn your cycle idiosyncracies and learn how to improve it and maximize it for ultimate orgasm potential.
Both male and females have cycles. This is where the infamous "female chemical imbalances" comes into play. During a females cycle, estrogen levels tend to go up and down like a roller coaster, causing instability. We have this same cycle. BUT with men, it's testosterone INSTEAD of estrogen and, instead of our levels going like a roller coaster, our levels stay at the same rate monthly.
Mattiscool, what is constant is not cyclic. Your are correct in saying that men have cycles, but then you contradict yourself by saying it is constant ❗ Our hormones do indeed cycle up and down just the same as they do in women, but men are usually too insensitive to discern their own rhythms and mood swings.
Bump -- objective, to gather enough anecdotal info to cobble together a poll.

Since the first of the year, I've attempted to exploit dame Aneros in sync with the Full Moon Club. I've found though that my peak desire and ability to slide into my 'orgasmic-zone' is best on the third, fourth and fifth days after the full moon.
I think inputs might identify whether the poster is in a committed relationship, whether that's m2f or m2m or instead, you are solitary or, just 'free ranging.'
i definately have a cycle when it peaks i have lots more spontanious erections produce more semen and generally feel good and want to have lots of sex when its low the exact oposite but it does not follow a distinct pattern maybe diet and exertion play a part?

Why Men Fall Asleep After Sex - Page 1 - MSN Health & Fitness - Men's Sexual Health
Missed this one the first time around. I was amused with the reference to a man's penis as a "DIPSTICK" in this article. Naturally I'd heard the term before but in a slightly different context.

I have been interested in this cycle stuff for some time and have been taking notes and keeping journals for the last several years. Every month I write down on my calender the new moon dates and the full moon dates. I have noticed that my high cycles began 4 or 5 days before the full moon and end 4 or 5 days after the full moon. My low cycles seem to be 4 or 5 days before and after the new moon. I think the moons maginic force affects the body's fluids, hormons, etc, just like it affects the tides..........
Totally agree with the lunar suggestions. Look what it does to the tides, and like the [visible] surface of the earth we are also mostly water. I also notice the couple days leading up through and following a full moon there is little my wife can do but hold on for the ride... 🙂
I also think that a lot of the mythology surrounding the full moon is because we love to embellish stuff we don't understand in general.
I say it's all good! and enjoy the ride, I get to know when there's a full moon without looking. Gotta love it!
