I use some of the oils and they cause distress in the lower track.
Also is it alright to use lube like vaseline around the base ,this is where the oils dry out and this
will cause pain. advice please
It would be helpful to know which oils cause the distress? Some oils may not be good. How much oil are you using? The oil.should not dry out. The "natural jelly" that adds beeswax to the mix somefolk find is a great improvement and does not dry out. IMO Vaseline is okay on the Aneros and will not dry out.
I have been using H2O jo It came with my aneros
I use about 3 cc of the oil.
Hi Mack and welcome to the Forum,
Regrets regarding the 'distress' you are experiencing. Your post reminded me of my search for a good glycerin-free lube. I found Sesame Oil to not work very well. 😆
There are good vegetable, nut and seed oils and many have a dedicated following in the Forum. Most are inexpensive so it's not difficult to shop around until you find one you like.
It's important to make sure you aren't allergic to your choice of a natural product. Peanut Oil for instance might prove fatal for many guys. I don't understand what 'distress' in the lower tract means but, if you have anything like an allergic reaction, please consider tossing that oil, and soon. Allergies usually don't get better.
Make sure you are using an unrefined oil. Some additives during the refining process aren't good to eat. If you wouldn't put it on your salad, don't shoot it up your butt.
When you eat an oil, your digestive system will 'cook' it with acid and bile. Except for USDA approved salad and food oils, consider any oil you buy worth Pasteurizing. Ten minutes in a double boiler should be adequate. Don't approach smoke points (usually above 300 deg) as the lube may turn rancid rapidly.
Some oils that receive favorable mention:
Many guys like Walnut Oil for it's durability, fragrance and Omega-3 content.
has used various oils in compounding his Natural Jelly formula and Almond Oil has been one of his favorites.
Many of us use a recipe by for compounding Shea Butter lube. The oil component is Coconut Oil.
I even tried Castor Oil. Nice slip, durable and it carries a USP mark (U.S. Pharmacopoeia) so it's safe inside the human bod. BTW, I didn't get any laxative action from it as I would if I had swallowed it.
Silicone is nice since a little does a lot of work and it doesn't dry out. I've found it tends to "hang around" for two or three days so I have to keep that in mind if I wish a Vice or -syn session.
Vaseline:
Many of us 'grease' our sphincters and the Aneros toy before any anal action. I alternate between Vaseline and Crisco. Although I have a cognitive preference for the vegetable product, Vaseline is easier for me to use. The Unilever people advertise a long term track record of Vaseline's compatibility with human tissue. Some water based lubes play quite well with Vaseline and Crisco. I like Slippery Stuff (gel) with either and Slippery Stuff is well balanced to the cellular makeup of the colon's lining (check out the Johns Hopkins lube study in the Forum older discussions.)
Hope this helps & blessings ... rook
mack,
Many on this forum are like me and swear by unrefined shea butter.
Although this is not an oil, its consistency at body temperature is very similar to most oils and it has the advantage of being much easier to clean up. It also lasts much longer in use than most water-based or glycerine lubricants. Indeed, if you choose to leave a tool in place overnight (as I sometimes do with a Peridise model for relief of haemorrhoids), it is still doing its job well after eight or nine hours!
You may have heard of shea butter as an ingredient of many skin care products but beware of using it in this form as it is likely to contain chemicals that could be bad for you.
It may be available at your local health products shop and there are several online suppliers and I should stress that you are looking for Unrefined shea butter.
Good Luck!
Pommie
On the subject of lube, does anyone have any suggestions on a brand of Silicone lube that is pure silicone and thicker than usual. The silicone lube I have been using in conjunction with water based lube is very thin.
I would love some thick stuff. Thick enough to sit in one spot.
Dont know if it exists. Any suggestions please?
@Mack – I find it's helpful when we all have the correct terminology for what we are talking about so as not to cause additional confusion. That being said...
H2O JO is a water based lube with glycerin in it. Not an oil. Many men experience problems with lubes that have glycerin in it. I'm one of them. We call the typical and most common reaction, "the urge to purge", meaning suddenly having to move your bowels. Which in the middle of an Aneros session is not convenient. The other one that myself and some others get is an uncomfortable burning sensation on the inner anal sphincter. Which beginners might not even realize they are getting as often times anal novices experience minor discomfort with anal play until they figure out how to properly relax the sphincters. Look for any lube that does not have glycerin in it. But keep in mind that any water based lube will dry out. I'd normally provide you with a relevant link to the Aneros Wiki, but the web site seems to be down at the moment.
Like Pommie, my preference is for unrefined shea butter, specifically “Now Solutions” Shea butter. Shea butter is a tree nut oil. Reference link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shea_butter
And it does not dry out in Aneros sessions, so no need to re-apply. If you're interested in going down this route, here is the main shea butter thread where you can read about it:

When I can't use that, Slippery Stuff Gel is my other choice. Usually for non-Aneros anal play. This is a water based lube that does not have glycerin in it. So re-application because of drying does still happen.
But there are a lot of good options, Rook has mentioned a lot of the common ones, and it just depends on your own personal preference. Definitely experiment till you find a lube that performs well for you.
Here's a link for Rumel's Natural Jelly since a lot of users here like that and it requires some preparation beyond just buying it and using it.

@braveneworld – I don't have any personal experience with silicone lubes. So I can't help you directly out of personal experience. But if you do an Internet search for “silicone lube gel” you'll get some results of products to consider.
Thanks for the help.
