I'm a lil concerned about lube because I have not found any lube which does not contain petroleum or
parabenes or other potentially harmful substances. And especially when you use lube in your rectum
the stuff in there is absorbed by the body so I think this could be a problem in the long run because you
definitely don't want those chemicals to be absorbed through the mucous membrane of the rectum into
your body. What's your take on this? What healthy lubes could one use like oils or stuff like that?
Could one simply use a cooking oil as lube? But then there's also the condom problem what if you
wanna use a condom?
stu,
Did you visit and read the contents of the High Island Health website as I suggested? Have you spent any time reading the Aneros WIKI as 'ten_s_nut', 'B Mayfield', 'rook' and I all recommended? Please read the first page paragraph "Got Questions?- A Guide to Getting Help". Please read the sections of the WIKI I pointed out to you in the PM I sent you. Please use the "SEARCH" function to find relevant threads, most of your questions have already been well answered previously.
The primary function of lubrication is to assure a minimum of friction between your Aneros and you. Since the rectum produces very little in the way of natural lubrication, it is necessary to provide supplemental lubrication to assure a comfortable and irritation free buffer. Understand the amount of Aneros movement generated by your internal muscular contractions is actually very small, so in that sense it doesn't really slide much at all (except upon insertion and extraction). The concept of the Aneros moving freely is just to make sure there is no encumbrance to these small movements.
There has been a continuing discussion on the Forum about lubrication types and issues. I recommend you first read the Lubrication paragraph in the Getting Started chapter of the Aneros WIKI and then read through the Bestlube..., coconut oil or Unrefined shea butter... threads for additional information and insight into this topic.
There are many choices for natural lubrication, it is more a matter of personal preference which particular lube you choose to use. Olive oil, coconut oil and almond oil are all popular alternative natural lube choices, shea butter is another popular natural lubricant. These natural lubricants do not contain glycerin which can have a laxative effect on many men. The rectal wall is a highly permeable membrane, easily absorbing water and the chemicals therein. While natural oil lubes do get absorbed like water based lubes, the absorption rate is slower and as the viscosity of the oil increases, the absorption rate decreases. Hence lighter weight (low viscosity) oils like grape seed and olive oil will be more readily absorbed and disperse more rapidly than heavier oils (higher viscosity) like almond oil or canola oil.
Personally, I am concerned about the uptake of the various chemicals in commercial 'personal lubricants'. Since I've developed a sensitivity to the glycerin found in many of the commercial lubricants, I've switched to using the 'Natural Jelly' formulation. I've also found a 50% almond oil - 50% shea butter lube effective as well. Obviously if one intends to use condoms over their Aneros these oil based products are not compatible.
Thanks for the info. What's stupid is that you can't use oils with a condom. 🙁
Do you have to keep oils which you want to use as lube in the fridge or treat them any different than if you used them for cooking?
stu;
If you use a polyurethane condom, like Trojan Supra, you can use any lube; oils, fats, bear grease, whatever.
Good luck and enjoy,
Dave
The man who discovered Vaseline, Robert Chesebrough, ate a spoonful of petroleum jelly for over 60 years, until his death at 96. Slippery Stuff Gel has been tested as one of the safest anal lubes, as seen in this study:

Who produces Slippery Stuff? Is it from Wet Stuff? And what if they changed their formula since this study was done?

Thanks for the link but it looks like they only sell their stuff in the US. :/
It would be cool if they also had sellers in Europe.
Hey Wolves, point well taken and thanks for the KITA !
.... snip .... Do you have to keep oils which you want to use as lube in the fridge or treat them any different than if you used them for cooking?
A valid concern since cooking oils slowly go rancid when kept in the pantry. Rancid oil gets pretty gummy so it not only has a foul taste but isn't a very good lube. Tightly capped in a full container is probably most important.

Personally... perhaps a bit over cautious:
I buy Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in one pint (0.5L) containers and keep them in closed container inside the cooler we use for white wines (@ 45deg. F.) In a year, I use about 1.5 pints of Shea but only a pint of Coconut Oil. I've never had either of these go rancid.
Once a month I prepare a dozen session-sized doses of Shea+Coconut mixture. So, the surface area exposed to the atmosphere is minimized with regard to time.
Perhaps adding an anti-oxidant like a Vitamin E capsule to each dose would help. I've not seen the need to do that.
