Is petroleum based lube OK to use with the older Aneros silicone models that do not have the new "softer" silicone?  I've been using Vaseline with my older Helix/Eupho Syn for several years with no adverse effects.

Disappointing to see Aneros recommend that petroleum lube is not safe to use with the newer style silicone.

I’d not actually read that so thanks for the heads up!

Similar experience here, not with any of the Syn products but with various silicon dildos and plugs, I don't use Vaseline anymore but did in the past and never ran in any issue.

This is just my opinion, but I believe it's only normal for the company to avoid having to deal with customers complaints if someone uses a lube that destroys their Aneros, and since some petroleum products will affect some silicon formulations, playing it safe makes a lot of sense here as you want happy customers enjoying their toys without issues.

This does not mean you can't do as you please once you own the toys, just that you void the warranty.

Even if dozens of guys put petroleum products on the new Syn model (I do not recommend doing this as I have absolutely no idea of what will happen) without degradation, the smart thing for Aneros is to keep the exact same stance :  No petroleum products on the silicon models. Doing otherwise would be bad business.

I guess I'm kinda of confused as well with using a petroleum product like Vaseline on silicone products from Aneros. I always thought it was safe for my toy as long as I wasn't using any silicone lube. Although I can understand Aneros view point about this as they're only protecting themselves and their product which I can understand cause I would do the same. But I have to say that I've been using Vaseline along with ID Glide for the last year or so on my syn models and they seem to be in still perfect shape from my perspective. I've been wanting to order the new Syn V, but I'm not sure now because of the recommendations of not using petroleum products which I'm so used to. I guess I could change how I lube it up, but to me it just wouldn't be the same. Maybe a new lube for me will find me in the near future.

It's kind of a sticky situation. Unofficially, someone could do a 30 days immersion test, then we (the user base) could say, for example, "Aneros does not recommend using any petroleum product on the Syn models, but some user did a 720 hours immersion test with no visible deterioration, and several guys use Vaseline during regular sessions without issues.  Keep in mind that using Vaseline or other petroleum product will still void your warranty as this is not an official test from the manufacturer. You break it, you pay for a new one." That is, if the toy is not all melted and weird after the test.

But to do this, we'd need someone who doesn't mind about potentially ruining a toy, and this would not take into account any formulation change later down the road. I'd be pretty angry if another user told me Vaseline was okay and it ended up ruining my device... Maybe this is not such a great idea.

At the end of the day, that's why I prefer the acetal models, they're damn near indestructible and no worry about chemical reactions.

@mlmac & @busdrvr if you guys really like using petroleum jelly, may I suggest you look into mixing up a batch of Natural Jelly as an alternate lube. This concoction utilizes natural oils in lieu of the petroleum based product and performs equally well, plus it is customizable as to viscosity.

Good Vibes to You!

Since I've run out of lube (been a fan of Slippery Stuff gel [for the Aneros] and Gun Oil H2O liquid [for rectal insertion with a lube shooter]), I'm most interested in using a rolled up ball of coconut oil for play. Does anyone have any experience with it, or thoughts of using on something like the HSV given that it is silicone AND electronic?
