Hey guys, just got a helix syn because my wife and I wanted to try some prostate play. I have read a lot on these things, trust me. Please don't go telling me to read. I've done a LOT of reading.

Anyway, I had mine in for about 10 minutes yesterday and literally felt nothing (this was my second 10 minute session). I felt some pressure when it was first inserted, but just sitting there I can't even tell it's in. When contracting my PC muscle, I can barely feel it. It's definitely not pleasurable, just more like an "ok, there's something in my ass" type feeling.

I tried changing positions. I tried lying on my back, lying on my side, sitting on a toilet, etc. I'd close my eyes and concentrate on the sensations, but I literally just didn't feel much.

I'm not going to say I'm frustrated yet, but I'm getting there. Any help is appreciated.

I'll bite my tongue to hold back a gentle ribbing jaja and say hi:) welcome to the forum, it really is a great place to learn as you start your aneros journey. I'm sorry to hear that your combined 20 minutes of use hadn't reached your expectations.
The idea of the journey is a really great mental image and right now you are trying on your shoes... for the first time. Good work.

I'm not sure what you've been reading (the super o testimonials?) but yes I would suggest more, though I leave it to more Senior members for the recommendations. Rumel's "cherry picks" post has some of the most insightful and enlightening reads you'll find, start there.

What you are doing sounds like a great start, I would suggest increasing the duration of your sessions to 30 mintues and spend time just relaxing with some deep breathing, perhaps some contractions later on. The idea is to familiarize yourself and your prostate with the aneros and the feelings it will start to generate and this will all take time.
Enjoy whatever feelings come and go. The mantra "no expectations" is good to keep in mind.

Again, congratulations on starting your journey and welcome to the club:).

I agree with @WM59. Expecting great results after 20 minutes is like going to the gym once and then acting surprised when you don't wake up ripped the next morning. Prostate stimulation requires a lot of relaxation, you won't be able to relax enough in just 10 minutes.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Please don't get discouraged - for some of us it can take years to get anywhere (2 years 10 months so far for me).
Over time, and with frequent uses, you will start to feel stuff, like involuntary PC muscle movement, etc.
20 minutes total time isn't going to translate to anything yet - you need to give your body more time to adjust and learn. Try to remember the first time you learnt to masturbate - I bet you didnt perfect (or even get an orgasm) within 20 minutes. I bet it took months, maybe years. Same principle.

I would suggest increasing length of a session just like @WM59 and @throwawayacc said, maybe even 45 to 60 minutes, probably as a solo self-exploration experience (can do couple stuff with it later after you get good at it I guess).

Curious dichotomy there...since you don't want to read, any help offered here is going to be meaningless. It is pretty obvious your attitude and expectations are going to be a problem. You may not be ready for this journey yet.

Well... yes and no. Sometimes, what one desires, is practical help, and wants concise info / instructions on how to do something.
What I thought the OP meant, is they don't want a "textbook" block of text.

I think there's sometimes too much theory regaring Aneros and not enough easy ways to turn that theory into practice. Which I think could become a problem for some that are struggling.

However, at the absolute level, you are correct - any answer we give, would require that the OP read the answer, which seems a bit silly if they don't want to read.

@HelixinATL This suggestion will require NO reading! What I would suggest to you is just "go through the motions" with your Aneros Helix Syn; solo play probably would be best at first. Just commit to a "set number" of sessions (and times) and go through the motions. Don't expect anything at that point. Yes, it may seem to be not worthwhile. But as you progress (perhaps 6-8 sessions' worth) you may begin to feel more and can build-up from there. Looking back, I didn't have a "real good" Aneros session until my sixth session with the Helix Classic. Aneros prostate "play" is different from other "prostate massagers"; they are "hands-free". Many others require manual intervention on the user's part and can be potentially injurious to the prostate! Welcome to the Forum and the Aneros community; don't give up yet! We are all here to support one another! Good luck to you!

Hey @HelixinATL ,

unfortunately there are no shortcuts that might help you, maybe weed, but that's highly controversial (search the forum for that). Everything else will need time, patience and devotion.

What helped me to break through after 4 fruitless years (yes.. we are talking years) was a daily kegel-workout. Not for the sake of toning your muscles but to wake up the nerve-endings in that area. Also, learn to properly relax - most people fail at that w/o noticing. If you can sit on a chair without slipping off, you are not properly relaxed. Learn meditation and to be observant.

And most importantly: don't be hasty. Things won't develop very fast. The Gym-analogy of @throwawayacc is point on. If you feel nothing now, it will most likely take 3-6 months for the first achievements.

Cheers, Unfug

Hey @Kaly

How did you learn meditation ?

With indirections. Mostly through erotic hypnosis. Both (meditation & hypnosis) aim for a certain mind-state called trance, which is indicated by a certain brainwave pattern (alpha waves). Once I could reliably fall into trance under guidance (hypnosis-mp3s), I was kind of able to remember this feeling and glide into that state effortlessly. After that I learned about Kundalini and the tantric Chakra-model, which I used for my meditation-routine. At last I learned amygdala clicking. You may search the forum for detailed info on these topics.

First achievements came after 4-6 weeks (pleasure waves and tingles). After 3 months I had my first a-less Mini-O and after 5 months my first Super-O.

Kegals are awesome. I guess it's been around 6-8 months since I have been practicing them 2-3 times a day; about a month ago I experienced my first A-less dry-O.

So do you do kegels during your aneros sessions? Can you detail your kegel routine/regime?

I usually don't do Kegals during a session. I usually do 2-3 sets of 30 during the day and evening (sometimes more/less). Hold for count of 10, release for count of 10. I like to incorporate some nipple play with my kegals; this is usually when things get interesting and can lead to a dry-O. Best chances of that happening is morning after a good session.

We can't expect him to read, and apparently we can't expect him to reply.

Tips I'd give to a beginner:

-1. Start your session after you defecate. This makes cleaning up inside much easier.
0. Perform a few enemas until only "clear" water comes out. About 3. I bought an anal douche from a sex shop, it was high quality, it broke, but fortunately it came with a shower head replacement. That one works GREAT.
1. Place a towel under your butt, a towel you buy solely for this purpose. Mine is dyed brown.
2. If you use standard models (not syn), lube it with silicone lube (it's amazing!), put it inside, and rest on your back for 15 minutes. Re-apply lube after it's over.
3. Make contractions. If you start feeling something strange, keep contracting at that spot, DO NOT MAKE much stronger contractions, rhythm is what's important here unlike with penis play.
4. If it doesn't work, try different positions. Positions that work for me in one way or another:
a) on my back with knees bent and legs apart
b) the newbie position from aneros manual, on your side with one leg bent
c) froggy (like doggy, but knees far apart and butt lower)
d) doggy
