(1). So what is your method of preserving your self-value when putting your arse on the line to approach a girl?: "Hey, you look attractive. I'm Helixer. I work at bla bla. How do you do? Can I buy you a drink? What can I do to impress you?" etc.

OK, there is some middle ground to be had.

It amazes me how much the "be yourself, just say hello and before you know it, you will be raped by supermodels" stuff is bandied about. Obviously, not everyone can display their "best self" or best aspects in an appropriate or appealing way.

Would you agree that at least learning some social dynamics would help? Let's say: Instead of asking a girl out on a packed train and embarrassing her, making her feel cheap if she gives you her number, ask her once you get off, if you both get off at the last stop. Not everyone knows this or has this idea in their head.

How are we fine with being taught how to speak, read, write, etc, but interaction is "ohhh no, don't do that, just be yourself". I AM myself!
