Hello all. I've been reading the forums here for about 2 months now and I've finally decided to join the discussion.

It seems like there are some intelligent people here with lots of helpful information. Y'all definitely make me curious with what you describe....

My question is, and forgive me if it's already been discussed, what are the options for p-tab adjustments or using tools (towels, etc) to augment it? I have two models, the sgx and the helix. I've only done two sessions with each but it seems like the sgx p-tab more effectively stimulated the perineum than the helix does for me. More effective in that the helix doesn't seem to contract enough for me to get the similar pressure I would with the sgx. I've experimented with a washcloth (read about here) and that works pretty good but when there is lots of motion it always slips out of place. Adjusting it during a session can be distracting.

I also noticed that the p-tab is larger on the sgx.

I'm 6'1" roughly so I don't think the sgx is the right model for me but I want to try and improve that stimulation while using the helix.

I have a session planned in a few days and i wanted to see if I could get some suggestions. I'm still really new to this but from reading the forums and from my own experience I can tell that rhythmic stimulation from the p tab is important to achieving the desired results.

Thanks.

give it a little time before you draw any conclusions (at least 10 sessions), and definitely before you modify the device.

to modify, use a heat gun. search for it on the forum.

a simple alternative is to get little rubber caps used for curtain rods and the like. i found one that fit exactly. it was white. makes the tab a little longer and also less sharp

Hi Quetzalcoatl,

Welcome to the Forum,

I agree with ‘darwin’ that you should give yourself a chance to ‘acclimatize’ to the Helix before attempting any modifications. There is a section in the WIKI which discusses modifications to your massager(s). I would advise you read that before attempting any permanent modifications to the Helix.

When I began my journey, I encountered the same problem as you, namely the P-tab of my Helix did not adequately engage my perineum. Here’s my ‘workaround’ for this little problem.
I purchased some inexpensive, long handled plastic mixing spoons from my local grocery store. The handles of these spoons were approximately 3/8”(10mm) in diameter. I cut about 1/2”(13mm) off one of the spoons’ handles and cut a 1/4” deep slot in it wide enough to accommodate the P-tab of the Helix. I sanded off all the rough edges/surfaces, then hot glued this extension to the P-tab thus effectively changing the geometry of the P-tab engagement point with respect to the main body of the Helix. This modification also allows some adjustment in the distance from the centerline of the Helix main body to the center point of the extended P-tab. This can prove convenient for getting the new P-tab extension to hit your ”sweet spot”. This modification does not involve heating or altering the P-tab arm relationship of the Helix in any manner so this modification will allow you to totally restore your Helix to its original configuration easily. All you would need to do is place the P-tab in some boiling water, wait for the glue to soften and pull the extension off.
There have been several other, clever, user devised modifications to deal with these minor obstacles, I suggest you use the Search function to find some of those modifications if you want more ideas.

Thanks for the responses. I like both of those ideas but the first one seems perhaps a little less complicated. Can you tell me where you got these rubber pads that you describe Darwin?

I think you're both wise in advising me to wait to draw any definitive conclusions until I'm more experienced with it, but how long do you think I should wait until I can reliably asses that the p-tab isn't suitable for me?

Quetzalcoatl,

OK, Feathered Serpent God, just slither on down to the biggest hardware store in your pueblo and ask the resident Toltec proprietor for some rubber or vinyl tube caps or ‘feet’, he/she should be able to hook you up, no human sacrifices required! 🙄

P.S. As 'darwin' suggests, give youself about 10 sessions before re-evaluating the P-tap situation.
