I've just begun to use the Helix and have been using the ID glide lubricant (about 5 ml). It is slippery, and seems to stay that way. HOWEVER, it does contain glycerin. Glycerin is sold as a rectal laxative. I'm not sure if it is just the nature of the lubricant itself, or the glycerin in the lubricant but I get that "laxative" effect happening to some degree.
Anyone else experience this with ID glide lubricant?

I have had the same experience a few times. After I remove the Aneros, I have the immediate urge to defecate, and usually do. What is expelled is usually mostly lubricant.
The ID-Glide does stay slippery for a while, but does dry if not constantly re-exposed to water. I've used ID-Glide for "other" purposes for years and it has to be re-applied often.
Based on a recommendation I read in this forum recently, I have switched to Vaseline Petroleum Jelly only. Using the ID glide I ordered with my first Aneros, I found that it took about 15 minutes to really feel comfortable enough to relax. I always had the feeling that something is in there that shouldn't be. Using the Vaseline, either of my Aneros models feel immediately very comfortable upon insertion. The drying out problems found with the ID-Glide are non-existent. However, after about 45 minutes, with either lubricant, the MGX feels rough on the anus and there is a need for additional lubricant applied externally. This is done much easier with the Vaseline.

I have also had this experience with ID glide lube. It seems to irritate things in there and causes a sort of cold burning feeling that makes me feel like I need to run to the bathroom. I've switched to using either KY or my own (very economical) lube made from j-lube and some other things. I don't think it's the glycerin that does it though, since I've used other lubes with glycerin and had no problems and even add it to my own.

Hi,
I also use J-lube, on occasion ... but everytime I try to add something to the mix, I end up with a mess .... the different things I try to add cause it to "gump" up.
Could you share your formula ????
Thanks

I don't really have a strict formula I use each time I make some, I just kind of eyeball the proportions, but the ingredients are:
- Water, of course.
- 1 or 2 capfulls of j-lube, to taste.
- Lots of Nasco General Lube, maybe up to 1/3 of the total mix.
- Some pure aloe vera gel (not in a lotion, just aloe vera).
- Glycerine.
It all gets mixed together to make about 24 ounces of Wet-like lube. I bought all this stuff about 2 years ago for around $40 and I have barely made a dent in my supply of ingredients.
I don't always use the aloe, but it gives it a slightly different consistency. If I add this I will usually boil the whole mixture in the microwave to get it to mix evenly. That might help your gump problem.
I found the suggestion to add General Lube from a j-lube fan website. For less than the cost of an 8 oz bottle of Wet, you can get a gallon jug of it in the Farm and Ranch section of www.enasco.com. I'm glad I'm not a ranch animal, because used alone it is the worst lube ever. However, it thickens the mixture so instead of a runny mess that slides off an aneros and dries out quickly, you get something that will stay put. So the j-lube is the slick, and the general lube is the stick. It also has some presevatives in it so the lube doesn't spoil.
I use just a little bit of grocery-store glycerin because helps keep those 3-foot long strings of lube from forming when you pull it apart. It also seems to help keep it from drying out. I've never tried adding a lot, but I plan to do that in my next batch to see if it makes it smoother and longer-lasting.
What have you tried to add? I'm interested in different ingredients that could improve it.
Hi Again,
Thanks for the detailed instruction .... I never heard of General Lube. I tried adding things like Corn Huskers Lotion, Hair conditioner and various moisture lotions. All were a flop !
I find the Jlube can be used with ID glide ... but I keep them apart until I want to use them ... I have 2 pump handle bottles to do this so I can control the amounts used easily.
