Hi guys first post here 🙂 and long post ahead so feel free to skip to the tl;dr :

So I've purchased a Helix about maybe a year or two ago. I started my journey very slowly with a session every month of so then I gave up since I coulnd't achieve any kind of orgasm. A few weeks ago I started reading how tos' and started experimenting again but this time without any expectations ahead.

I'm at a point where inserting the toy or having something up my bunghole doesn't bother me at all anymore (I think I even started enjoying anal penetration). By the way, I'm a hetero dude and had to get past all the unusual/taboo pleasures of the back entry when I first started a few years back. I also experienced a few "build ups" where the aneros started auto f*cking me and obvious pleasure waves. Those few instances ended with the so called "terror at the gate" effect when I had a high (not heart attack high but still pretty fast) heart rate and me getting stressed (or too excited) and ending the session with a regular masturbation session since I lost all the arousal I had after the small panic.

Now I don't really know how to progress on my journey, I even started wondering if the toy was actually touching my prostate (I've never been able to feel it by hand). The last sessions I wigled the toy around to see if I had a change in feelings but I'm pretty sure I'm confusing anal/rectum with actual prostate stimuly. My muscles down there are now in a pretty good shape I feel like since I had long sessions over the past week where they had time to build up but I still don't know how to control them indivually (I can distinguish two types of movement as of now).

I've read about wim hof breating techniques and Kegels, but I don't want to be focusing on a million stuff while doing my sessions. I'd rather concentrate on the sensations I'm having than counting how many breaths I took or at what pourcentage I'm flexing my PC floor back perineum muscle or whatever.

So I'm here today asking for your help on what to improve, maybe on how to know my prostate is being simulated, hacks on how to correctly place the Aneros and so on..

TL;DR :

I have an intermediate experience with the Aneros Helix and I feel like I'm stalling in my progress towards super-Os. What should I improve/focus on ?

Note : I usually start my session while watching porn then gradually start shifting to imaginary/fantasy erotic images in my head.

I suggest more reading, knowledge is powerful and can lead you to understanding which can lead you to wisdom which can then lead you to bliss.

... maybe on how to know my prostate is being simulated, hacks on how to correctly place the Aneros and so on..

You know your Aneros is stroking your prostate when you've been induced into auto-fucking mode ! Just because you can't pinpoint the source of the sensations doesn't mean you aren't aggressively engaging your prostate.

I have an intermediate experience with the Aneros Helix and I feel like I'm stalling in my progress towards super-Os. What should I improve/focus on ?

First, I'd suggest you read the thread Identifying Obstacles to Progress just to see if there is something you're not aware of holding you back. Then you could jump to the thread Identifying Facilitators to Progress and follow that up with some of the links identified in the thread Cherry Picks - The most deliciously informative posts we know!. I'm confident you will find some helpful information somewhere in all of that reading to get you out of your stalled state. What you "...should..." do is totally up to you, you're the Captain of your ship and you get to set the course, I'm hoping you find your way to the Calm Seas of Orgasm.
Good Vibes to You !

@rumel first of all, thank you for the detailed answer. As you've said I just realized how much documentation/reads available there was on this comunity (I also just noticed the welcome message that directs to articles and the wiki). I will indeed need to read some of the links you've provided.

Just one question that might be answered in the links you've given me but I'm going to ask it anyway since I feel like it's my main concern nowadays :

I have a lot of sensations down there during my sessions which I think vary from anal/rectum stimulation, prostate simulation, weird disconfort that feels like a need to pee but not exactly (it's a combination of bladder and anal fullness, almost like I need to pee AND poop). I also think that my extended sessions tire my muscles (I tend to increase the strength of the contractions towards the end out of frustration).

Here's the question : let's say I got to a aroused level am I supposed to feel immense pleasure on prostate contact that overpowers all the rest ? Also I have a weird fixation on my PC muscles getting tired, could this have any negative impact on them ? 🙁 (now that I think of it, it might be my main blocage on the road to orgasms)

This is quite typical for many users. As you get more enured to the use of your massager the weirdness of those sensations will diminish and you will tend to ignore them. I will still get them myself occasionally even after 11 years of experience, if I have forgotten to empty my bladder or wait a sufficient amount of time from my last bowel movement.

I also think that my extended sessions tire my muscles (I tend to increase the strength of the contractions towards the end out of frustration).

Getting into a practice of doing Kegel exercises will help this a lot (please see the recent thread Need for kegel exercise?). As far as increasing the strength of contractions towards the end of a session, I'd say this indicates you are trying to force the orgasm process which just doesn't work for most men. You need to allow the orgasm to come to you and not to 'chase' it, perhaps reading two of @darwin 's excellent threads relax, relax, RELAX and my theory of orgasm success may shed some insight.

Here's the question : let's say I got to a aroused level am I supposed to feel immense pleasure on prostate contact that overpowers all the rest ?

First, forget even thinking about what you think you're '...supposed..." to feel ! You will feel what your body wants to give YOU, not what you've read about nor what you imagine you 'should' feel, accepting and appreciating what your body does give you is an important thought paradigm shift in your journey.

Also I have a weird fixation on my PC muscles getting tired, could this have any negative impact on them ?

Yeah, overthinking (mind noise), especially during an Anerosession, can kill off arousal. As noted in Identifying Obstacles to Progress, obsessive thinking, of any sort can be an obstacle to progress. If you're feeling discomfort, regardless of the source, your Anerosession is not likely to go well. You will need to resolve the discomfort issue before good progress can happen.

You need to readjust your attitude, your attitude is a massive part of this. To me you sound frustrated..Frustration is the enemy.
I was locked into that stage for months, don’t see sessions without orgasm as failure, enjoy the pleasures and sensations that come in a session, and when you experience more pleasure and new sensations, come away and take note that things have progressed, try not to think your going to orgasm, just let the gland lead you where it wants to go. I get what your saying about having so much to do,maybe for now, just remember to keep breathing full stop, even when you do orgasm, and try a few kegels in between sessions and build it up. You just have to relax and let it all happen, easier said than done sometimes I know.@GGringo gave me some tips on kegels on a post,I tried them out last night,I didn’t have an orgasm but it turned out to be a very pleasurable A-Less session just doing the routine,I’m still pleased with the sensations that came from the exercises, they were all new,not disappointed with any missing orgasms, remain positve, and good luck as you proceed further down the rabbit hole. 🙂

I tend to empty my bladder before every session, when it comes to bowel movement I often "probe" my need to poop and if I don't feel anything I tend to skip the going to the toilet part...

As of the rest of your answer, I do chase the orgasm. I'll have to do a lot of work to prevent that (I'm used to getting what I need quickly, thanks to the current society's possibilties)

Again, thanks for your answers, I'll try to keep as much as I can of this stuff in mind in my next session

I'm still going to bust your b*lls on this question :

Also I have a weird fixation on my PC muscles getting tired, could this have any negative impact on them ?

I was specifying a negative impact on the PC muscles rather than my mindset. Can they get worn out after exstensive usage ? I'm scared of that kind of stuff 🙁

@Tommygunn u'r also right, I am starting to get frustrated when I have hour long sessions without any memorable pleasure, it then goes away after I've had a penile ejaculation and think to myself that at least I get to make my PC muscles work, which is good for them I presume. The pleasures of the prostate are so hard to achieve compared to normal masturbation for a male, but I get it it's a higher effort/rewards in the end 🙁

The only negative effects I can think of from performing Kegels or Kegel like contractions while using your Aneros would be temporary. Like any group of muscles which get exercised to the point of fatigue, you might experience cramping, spasms, weakness and soreness but nothing of a permanent nature. I am a firm believer the body will never injure itself, you may participate in activities which can put the body at risk for external trauma, but the body's internal (mostly subconscious and automatic) operations aren't in any danger. Once you've learned basic bowel control from childhood those pelvic floor muscles act almost automatically for the rest of your life unless trauma or disease are involved. I just can't foresee any man attempting to so extensively use his muscles that he could or would cause any permanent muscle damage, i.e, 'wear them out'. It is to be expected you will get some muscle soreness as you ramp up your exercise of these muscles with Kegels and Aneros use but you are also building muscle tone (for control), strength (for periodic pressure application) and stamina (for multiple orgasms). Just make sure you also give those muscles reset/recover/rebuild time as you would in any exercise program.

I’ll offer something up here,at least for now,I’d say you should stop finishing sessions with a tradition orgasm. One of the objectives on your prostate journey is to learn that ejacualtion amd orgasm are actually two separate events. And
it helps to see them as such, when you get going, you can orgasm many times without ejaculating, bypassing the refractory period you get with a TO,so if you have a session at night, when you finish,go to sleep and jack off in the morning if you need to. Although, many people here practice semen retention,so it may speed things up to knock the TO’s on the head for a bit if you can,or only TO with your sexual partner or jack off only once or twice per week. Keep Aneros sessions for themselves. As for your muscles, they do work whether they are trained or not, don’t sweat it too much, you can still get much pleasure and super o’s,I have quite a few super o now,and I’ve only just started on levels. Just relax and listen out for the subtle sensations and try try try to not chase it. You’ll get there,6 weeks I had with Aneros before I felt things,it’s normal, keep the faith. Oh..and don’t over analyse. Just take what comes.

🙂

Still a learner too, but something that resulted in substantial progress for me was changing the way I think about TOs also.

It’s sound advice not to touch your penis during sessions, but I figured a few months ago that it wouldn’t hurt to focus on my normal wanking habits too. I read about different techniques and applied the same principles as used in Aneros sessions - breathing, relaxing, not forcing anything, enjoying whatever i’m feeling in the moment and not falling into the habit of a lifetime and mentally and physically pushing myself to heighten the pleasure to trigger orgasm/ejaculation.

This has resulted in stronger, longer lasting erections, massive increase in pleasure from stroking, greater ability to linger at the point of no return without crossing the line and, more recently, the ability to go into orgasm without triggering the ejaculation reflex.

This has had a knock-on effect for my Aneros sessions. My body no longer responds to visual, audible etc sexual stimulus with an erection. Instead I get the familiar fullness in the prostate area followed by pleasant tingling. An erecting only comes if I induce it by stroking. I no longer have that same animalistic desire to cum every day as I get enough pleasure just from the A-less sensations that i’m able to enjoy whenever I like. I’m wanking less (probably three times last month) which, in turn, makes my Aneros sessions better because my arousal is much higher - but without the sexual frustration that previous attempts at abstinence caused.

@craigio @Tommygunn interesting advice you guys are giving me, I'll take them into account for my next session.

A little update on my past sessions: I feel like I'm getting there. I'm starting to have more and more auto fu*king action going on. Only two things stopping me now :

  • I have the "terror at the gates" symptom still (heart racing making probably bc I'm anxious of what's to come). I also don't seem to be able to keep a breathing pattern going on and start to hold my breath while nearing orgasm (idk it's a super-O or dry O).
  • Second main issue I'm facing : I constantly wonder if the Aneros is placed incorreclty, try to move it and wonder if the sensations I'm having are from prostate simulation or anal penetration. (I also tend to think to my self : what if I'm doing someting wrong and I'm hurting myself)

Note : I'm high on most of my sessions, I tend to get a little panicky/paranoiac on weed... Maybe I'll try my next sessions sober.

There isn't anything to be anxious about. Let your body give you that pleasure, it won't harm you. The worst that I've got from my sessions is a sore prostate from using a progasm for a long while and I did alot of hard manual contractions. But if you let the pleasure come to you, the body will do its thing and orgasm, this set of natural movements isn't going to hurt you. But remember don't spare on the lube!

I orientate my Aneros models just a tiny bit to the right of the perineum line because my left PC muscle is stronger than my right one. This way when the muscles are activated, I get a smooth straight stroking motion from the Aneros. I would hold a very light lower ab contraction and breathe out from the lower belly, this puts some pressure on the prostate and gets things going.

If it is hitting the prostate, there is a distinguished feeling from the anal penetration. It may already be engaging the prostate but you may not be aware of it yet. It certainly helps if you are already aroused and it swells up the prostate to be more easily engaged. It might take awhile but you will feel it eventually.

@craigio Have you thought about trying some edging? I found it pays dividends. Once I got used to reaching the PONR and stopping the easier it became and I was not so focused on ejaculating. I found I could harness the arousal and use it during an Aneros session. The results usually were more satisfying than a quick “blast”. Then there is also SR to try. Enjoy the horniness, enjoy whatever comes along:)

@Harper practically all of my traditional wanking sessions these days are what I’d term edging. I basically lie back, do some gentle stroking while focusing on deep breathing and trying to maintain an awareness of my entire body and where the sensations are. This usually means I’m feeling tingling all over, swimming up to my head. I can then mentally direct these sensations to other parts of my body with surprisingly gentle focus. I take care not to speed up or intensify my stroking, just let things build gently. Once my heart rate is rising and I start to feel involuntary spasms begin, I back off completely and just enjoy the feelings. Once it starts to calm, I’ll start again. After three or four cycles of this - so probably getting on for an hour of wanking - when I reach the point of my body signalling it’s going to take over, as I pull back and stop stroking, I’ll still go over the edge and feel a moderate to strong orgasm wash through me, but with no ejaculation. Once I’m at this point I can go for as long as I like. Sometimes the desire gets too much and I fail to stop stroking and will cum (and it will be explosive) but, more often, I reach a point where I feel content to just stop.

I don't think I've found the perfect positioning for the Aneros yet. Like I said before, I have a lot of feelings down there during my sessions, still can't clearly distinguish which is which.

The only time I know I'm feeling my prostate distinctly is when I do the "do nothing" method. I get aroused and I feel my blood "pump" in my prostate and lightly touch against the Aneros, I don't have automatic contractions with this method yet.

@Harper Semen retention is happening of its own accord. Most wanking sessions don’t end in ejaculation using the methods I’ve been mentioning and I never finish an Aneros session by ejaculating. Before focusing on what I described whenever I tried SR, instead of building arousal it would build frustration and impatience. It only works when i’m doing it naturally by listening to my body. If I get an urge to cum, I just do it. But that’s now happening much less frequently.

@pijcab I’m sorry I can’t add much more to what’s already been said. Just try not to be anxious during your sessions. I think your body learns and responds of it’s own accord sometimes and we only get in the way by over thinking it. Not all sessions are good ones but each time your body will be learning without you being aware. As craigio rightly says above, some of these things only work by listening to your body and letting nature take over. It sounds as if you are making progress, stick with it. If one session is a bust, so what? There’s always another time and you never know what might happen. I think we have all probably been in a similar situation at some point.
Wishing you continued success.
Keep in touch
