Last night, I had my third session of the week and they were all good sessions (I rarely have bad ones). At the beginning, I had a distant headache but as I progressed in the session, the headache grew substantially (almost to migraine level). It did not affect the great feelings I was experiencing but the distraction was there. After my hour and half long session, I went to bed and the splitting headache would not go for hours.
I know the cause is not from using the Aneros massager but could the stimulation of the prostate help fuel the pain or is it just coincidence?
I'm curious to see if any members have headaches while in sessions and how it affects their outcome.
I know for sure that orgasm can decrease level of pain due to release of endorphine but that's all. I've never experienced a session during headache.
@GGringo I have a similar experience. Usually the day after i suffer from a severe headache. Nowadays i often stick to aless and my own finger and do not get any headache.
I think during aneros sessions with deep orgasms a surplus of sexual energy is the problem. I have been told to press my tongue at the front of the palete and let that energy flow to my belly. But have not been very succesfull with it...
@gdunn to clarify, I was feeling the begining of the headache at the time of starting my session and it just grew from that point on. I am not yet at the Super-O level so I'm not sure it was a reaction to prostate stimulation or not. I rarely get headaches so hopefully, it was just a coincidence.
Good vibes to you.
I have had this happen during a wanking session. My conclusion is that the muscles in neck, and head grow more tense when you're at a higher level of arousal.

The same happened to me after an intense session that evolved the muscles on my head and face. It was as if my gland was flexing the muscles on my head. I felt it in my nose and my ears. I had a headache for two days. It was like when you exercise a weak muscle and it becomes sore.
I no longer get the headaches, but now I feel the orgasms pleasantly throbbing on my head and most of the rest of my body.

I get headaches quite often at times and just recently came to the conclusion, that these are rather migraines (despite the low pain level at the beginning). Migraines are often just regarded as very strong headaches but there is more to them. They are located, respectively have a hotspot/epicenter in the brain (left-right/front-back) and they correlate with (cardiac) circulation. So, if you are active and your pulse raises, so does the pain.
In my case, tension headache almost always develops into a (small) migraine, that's why I cut down activity to a minimum when I get them. Sadly that includes anerosing. 🙁
Currently I'm running an experiment in which I stuff myself with B12 supplements. The amount of days in which I develop a migraine dropped significantly since I started, but it may just be the placebo-effect.

@unfug , I know it's been a while but how did your experiment go? Back then, after this exchange, my migraines went away but they seem to have found their way back lately. I have been on a daily regime of (24mg) B12 for a year now.
Just curious.
@GGringo, I seldom get headaches when I have Aneros sessions, but I have noticed in recent years that drinking plenty of water helps me very much!
Thank you for the suggestion @bigglansdc ; I do need to drink more every day and I will.

B12 sadly didn't work for me, but to be fair, I was terrible at taking it regularly. But what I found was that daily magnesium seems to help. A pharmacist gave me this tip. She said, that electrolytes play an important rule for our nervous system (I told her, that I get headaches from being hungry / thirsty). Later I learnded, that (in the west), we usually have too much sodium in our diet and too little potassium & magnesium. I don't know if I remember correctly, but I guess, that our body can store only so much of these metals, and esp. too much sodium pushes the other important metals out of our depots. I can be wrong though, so take that with a grain of salt.

I second that. I tried it just once yet. When I felt tensions rising in my head in the morning, I chugged 2 cups of water and it seems they saved me - the tensions went away and wouldn't develop further.
Interesting. Living at high altitude I encourage people to drink more water as it helps with altitude sickness and headaches. I was also wondering about the microcosmic orbit, if that plays a part. I've read Mantak Chia and wonder if this is what he would describe as uncirculated energy in your head? Apologies @ggringo as I know you're much more of a veteran than I am, I can't remember if I've read you discussing this topic at all before, I'm sure you already have heard about it. Usually I get headaches if I don't ejaculate regularly, but I've been practicing semen retention for 3.5 weeks now and for the last week and more have felt much better. I don't know if this might be a contributing factor for you or not.
@unfug , thank you for your response; I appreciate it. You're insight on migraines is giving me something to think about. I try to stick to a low sodium diet but I never thought of magnesium. I will look into it.
@faith-manages , I am used to long periods of SR and not affected by it. In fact, it has helped me keep my overall energy up. Being a young 65 year-old, I don't need to ejaculate often; just once in a while to clean the pipes.
You did, however, touch on the topic I've been keeping in the back of my mind. The effects of microcosmic orbit and/or Kundalini are certainly a possibility. Several years ago, I read Mantak's Chia's book but I'm not an expert on the matter so no apologies needed here.
Since reading on the subject way back then, I've practiced and perfected (so I thought) pulling energy up through my chakras all the way to the frontal part of my head. However, lately, I’ve neglected to make a conscious effort to return the energy downward to the root of it's origin and beyond. I guess the ‘auto-return' doesn’t work as well as it should. I'm at the point where I have to go very slow on pulling up energy or avoid it altogether as an instant headache is just around the corner.
On top of it all, I've been experiencing tinnitus and wondering if this could also be a result of energy transfer? This condition is common while aging but it could also be something entirely different and not good.
I’m fully aware of Kundalini and the possibility of the syndrome effects tied to it. This is powerful stuff and not something to mess with.
Good vibes to all!

While vitamin supplements and adequate hydration may suffice for chronic headache sufferers here's an interesting report from the U.S. government National Institutes of Health -> Psychoactive substances as a last resort—a qualitative study of self-treatment of migraine and cluster headaches.
There appeared to be little or no interest in psychoactive effects per se as these were rather tolerated or avoided by using sub-psychoactive doses. Primarily, psilocybin, lysergic acid diethylamide, and related psychedelic tryptamines were reportedly effective for both prophylactic and acute treatment of cluster headache and migraines.
It appears that microdosing with magic mushrooms offers relief for many of these headache sufferers but there may be another benefit to this practice for Aneros users in enhanced perceptual awareness as a result of microdosing. For more information about microdosing please see Microdosing Psychedelics sponsored by James Fadiman, PhD & Sophia Korb, PhD.

I've had some of the worst headaches after a professional message, especially if the masseuse was working on me too hard. My regular therapist would always encourage me to drink a few cups of water afterwards. The theory is the massage releases a lot of toxins that need to be flushed out. With the aneros, it could be a similar phenomenon, but also if you tense up too much during the experience, you may pull some neck muscles out of wack. I would suggest drinking a bunch of water immediately after a session and also look into taking some magnesium supplements to help your muscles relax. I also like to take a hot bath in Epsom salts after. If these suggestions don't work, you may be experiencing a reaction to the high level of endorphins that is creating a negative after-effect, which I've also experienced as a kind of hang over or nausea experience in the preceding hours and next day.
@shinobi it's interesting you brought that up, I had my best-ever session last night and just an hour ago started having a (very mild) headache! It's the first time in a week at least. Do you think possibly drinking something like an energy drink that replaces electrolytes might be even more beneficial than water?
@faith-manages You probably meant a sports drink like Gatorade? The thing about sports drink to be watchful of is they have a lot of added sugar. If you can find one without the sugar and extra junk, it would be better for you. A good natural one to consider is coconut water. Some headaches can be treated with caffeine because caffeine shrinks the blood vessels and can help if it's a vascular type headache and is often an additive in some headache medicines like Tylenol Headache. I may have to search myself for a drink like this and see if it helps my problems with post aneros issues like mild nausea I get.
