I wrote a long entry to my blog and by the time I was ready to post it, the system timed me out! Blog kaput, gone! I tried to log back in to recover but no such luck. Aarrrrggghhh!
I suspect some give up and don't write.
Frustrated

Haven't checked the Blog timeout interval yet but had that happen in Forum Posts last week (expletive deleted). I think support has made it more tolerant; however, I'm now a believer in composing, offline, in a simple text editor then logging back in and pasting the text into the Aneros site.

I know time-outs are necessary but if they could figure a way to warn the member 30 seconds or so before time-out, it could avoid that aggravation.

You should not be a victim of time outs if you check Remember Me when you log in.

Also, version 4.xx of VBulletin has an AutoSave feature which periodically saves your in progress posts and allows you to recover them if you get logged out, crash, or whatever. I think this forum is running under VBulletin 5.xx and I'm not sure that it supports the AutoSave feature, but if it exists, its a configuration setting that has to be enabled by the Admins. Haven't seen any indication of it here so far.

Ah, OK, AutoSave is enabled. If you lose your work while composing a message, go back to the thread where you were posting and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you enter your text. There will be a yellow header with the option to Restore or Delete the text previously entered.

If you don't see the yellow header on the edit box, try refreshing the page and check again.

AutoSave saves at a periodic interval so you might not recover every last word. If you watch the lower right corner of the edit box when you're typing, you'll see a little Auto Save box pop up every once in a while. Looks like it's saving about once every 60 seconds or so here.

Thanks guys. @Maximus I have seen and used the Auto Save you mention but it was not there at the time of my entry. I tried everything suggested above but to no avail. I even wrote a quick polite note to Aneros Support about the incident. I'm over it now and I categorise it as work in progress. I re-wrote the blog and moved on. Maybe I should have cooled down before writing my entry.

@Maximus, I will turn on my 'Remember Me' button. I did not think this would be a factor so I learned something new. Thank you.

Possibly too late to help but when i am writing long responses that I need to think about I use a text editor to draft my response then copy the results into the blog or community window. If anything fails I still have the text file and a large clipboard.
