To build upon the preceding practices you must gain a greater awareness of your mind and body – and learn to integrate this awareness into practice. The most sublime orgasms are achieved when you do so without penile stimulation and without exerting external force upon the Aneros. To achieve these results, you must concentrate on using and feeling the sphincter contractions to slowly and methodically control the movement of the Aneros and other muscles of the body.
Begin by slowly increasing tension to the anal sphincter as you stretch your legs and arc your body, adding complete body muscle tension as strongly as you can. Perform these movements slowly, keeping your mind focused on the variations of sensation throughout your body.
Try to increase body tension to the point where your muscles are quivering but not cramping. Continue with the contractions of the sphincter – first slowly, then more quickly. Maintain synchronized breathing as much as possible – If the muscles begins to tire, try to hold the contraction at less than maximum (i.e. Don’t tense up) for several seconds at a time. You can gauge this by attempting to stabilize the pressure that the perineum tab exerts solely by contracting the sphincter. This may take some practice.
Avoid direct stimulation of the penis. Continue to add more whole-body muscle tension until this practice brings you to the threshold of ejaculation. It's very difficult to put into words or a step by step, the instructions are about as good or better than what I could possibly to write. I agree they sound vague but only until you experience what they describe, then they make sense. It's also slightly different for everyone so not exact steps are going to happen.
I've found Kelgel exercises help but they take time to get the pelvic floor muscles into shape. As many have said here before, just relax and enjoy, each time is different and they get better and better. Try not to compare yourself to others or instructions, just compare each time you use and take note of what felt really good, what distracts you, then fine tune for the next.
I personally find that following 'instructions' exactly for how to use aneros toys to be not the best idea. Yes its ok to get a general outline of how to use the toys from 'instructions' but because everyone is so different, what works for me may not work for you and vice versa...aneros toys are all about trial and error to figure out what works best for you. Don't try to 'force' success and just enjoy all the sensations and pleasures that come from each session.

I don't tense anything at all, not even the anus. I focus awareness on the toy, feeling it in me without making my body do anything to feel it. Like I don't squeeze my anal sphincters to feel the toy, I just feel it inside me and as it moves on its own I pay attention to what the toy is doing and how it feels inside. If I tense up that's involuntary and I don't control it. And certainly no penis stimulation is important, but sometimes I stroke it a few times to generate some stimulation that makes my ass respond strongly, and it catapults the toy into high gear and I have Os from that, but its not needed and I only do it randomly as my session continues.
I'd just do what happens, let the session flow on its own, and honestly there is no formula to this. I think the formula is just paying attention to you and don't be distracted by methods, techniques, pornography, or anything that is not within you already 🙂
Sometimes, less is more! Dont over complicate it for yourself
1. Lie back and do nothing.
2. Dont touch your cock.
3. If you get hard, gently tense and relax your sphincter. Youll feel the aneros rubbing the base of your cock deep inside
4. Breathe steadily.
5. Notice your sphincter clenching, and when it does breathe through it and unclench. This creates a rub between prostate and aneros. Notice and try to visualise the centre point of this feeling. This is your prostate and where everything that is coming starts from.
Let your prostate and aneros do the rest...dont chase the feelings just follow them.
For me it's about the PC muscle and tensing it in isolation from everything else. A full clench is the start - the PC muscle contracts at that point. It took a while but eventually I was able to tense it without bringing in other muscles. For me, once I am settled, I can just focus on muscle and let everything else relax, the orgasm will take care of the rest. Once the orgasm passes, I let everything relax but also find the PC muscle again -> instant repeat, this can lead to some pretty crazy experiences.
A additional hint to this is that I feel like I am tensing a muscle across my groin, like the inside of the thighs are involved. It's really really subtle, but with an aneros it leads to a non-subtle result.
It was a journey for sure, the tug-of-war method from the wiki worked for me early on. Essentially I have just described that but with only one tug by using the isolated the PC muscle, and letting the orgasm do the other part of the tug-of-war.
This is one of the main triggers for me but there are others. There is the muscle that- as it was described elsewhere here as I cannot remember the name- pulls up your balls. Actually, this versus the PC muscle is a great tug-of-war. Though I usually activate my glutes, then this muscle -> orgasm. The reason is that I alternated between this and using the PC muscle for orgasm to reduce fatiguing - though I don't need to do this anymore.
Everything others have said here is spot on. As I mentioned I definitely started with strong clenches, once you find "the feeling" then you can reduce the muscle involvement and delightfully discover that you get the same or better results.
