I've tried lots of the modifications posted here over the years and stumbled on something to contribute back. I always found the helix didn't fit me well. In most positions the P tab never came into contact with my body unless I was making a contraction too strong to be useful. This solves the problem for me, and has an effect similar to the spring-loading modification posted a few years back. It's really simple.
I took a regular foam ear plug (These ones are Howard Leight MAX1) and used some small scissors to cut a space for the tab, and that was it. The springy memory characteristic of the foam makes it adjust perfectly to fit my perineum. I can also easily adjust the angle to control where on my perineum it hits. It's soft so it doesn't dig in too harshly, and it stays put even if a little lube gets in the area. Fits my eupho as well.
Kraytwerk,
What a great idea! I suppose that they're cheap enough that you just toss them when they get old, yes? Another user recently came up with another fix that involved taking a baby bottle nipple and cutting the base off of it so that just the tip remained.
These are some good workarounds to add the ones of the past (the "floatie" and the "outrigger"). We'll likely be updating the WIKI with this in the future.
Cheers,
BF Mayfield
That is cool! And what a good idea. I've got a whole package of those little things, so I don't even have to go out and buy them. And, cheap too.
I find that the tab digs a bit, and is a bit uncomfortable. I'm anxious to give it a try.
A marvelous idea! However it begs a question for those of us who are dedicated to recycling. Is hearing protection the primary use and p-tab cushioning the secondary application? Or, are the 'cushions' with a faint fragrance of Shea Butter best used in one's ears? 😆 ... rook
They are indeed quite cheap, but they can be washed and left to dry, though it seems to affect the sponginess just a bit. As for recycling, I would personally only go ear-to-ass, since they are porus and could conceivably harbor bacteria even after a good washing. Maybe set up a recycling plan with the neighborhood to send them to you after they've used them to drown out the howls of unparalelled bliss?
Folks
Is the P tab supposed to be in contact all of the time? I generally find it touches on one of the erotic pressure point during a strong involuntary contraction and heightens the sensation.
I have only recently achieved Super O after trying for more than 4 years. I went over the edge when I located the P tab centrally on the ridge. Bang it happened.
Good luck
I had this idea a few weeks ago, but my earplugs were too small to fit on the P-tab. 🙁
Calmer,
Yes, the P-tab is designed to be in contact with your perineum most of the time. The P-tab functions as a fulcrum. The Aneros pivots on the tab driving the head of the unit toward your prostate. Correct tab placement is essential (as you've found out!) The stimulation provided by the tab closes a sensory loop that travels from your perineal acupressure spot to your anus to your prostate and back to the perineum. When the tab is in properly positioned this positive feedback loop creates pleasure waves that can ramp up into a Super O.

Hello kraytwerk, 🙂
I'm gonna take a different angle on your idea. Lately I've been finding in my own Aneros practice that the P-tab touching me on the perineum is an important part of experiencing pleasure in my sessions. And also a good focus to grow the pleasurable sensations. So using the ear plugs as a P-tab extender may be one thing. But if it dulls and/or cushions the sensations from the P-tab, in my opinion that may not be helpful. Perhaps you might try bending the arm of the P-tab in on your Helix and Eupho if you feel it is not touching enough. Although this is likely to be more of a permanent modification.
I find the P-tab touching me enough on my Helix to be sometimes intermitent. It just depends on what my anal muslces are doing. I think that's why I am liking my MGX so much lately. It uses a much more aggressive and longer surface area P-tab design. Keep in mind though that everyone is different, so your milage may vary.

P.S. - Thanks for the good laugh with your neighborhood recycling program! LOL
Has anyone thought or tried using the handle that had been removed, melt it and apply it to the P-tab to form a sphere, and then smooth it out? Or using a hot-glue gun to do the same?
Badger,
Yes, there are some users who have fashioned a tip using a glue gun. The advantage of the approach is that it is not permanent and can removed if need be. Melting down a piece of the Aneros and refashioning it is not a good option however....not safe. If you look in the modifications section of the WIKI you can see some other workarounds for the tab as well.
