Exploring Changes of Positions During Sessions

This is an offshoot from the Exuberant Videos thread, where @mountain-below-the-sea asked me to elaborate on some statements I made regarding position changes, particularly a part about using different positions so as I don't get "overwhelmed".  Maybe this could have been discussed in the original thread, as it has direct links with it, but this particular idea falls into more esoteric aspects of Super-O-ing and I did not want to torpedo the first thread, so here goes.

I did a lot of trial and error with various positions, and my conclusion was that on my back, on a hard surface, was really all I needed. Sometimes this was with legs straight, sometimes legs bent, sometimes with a towel under my butt or a pillow under my head, but basically, I was on my back for the whole session.

At some point in my Aneros adventures, I got into a situation where the buildup to the Super-O was happening way too fast and was uncomfortable, and I started to get some anxiety issues, aka Terror at the Gate. I'm sure some of you would love to have this kind of problem, but it was really not enjoyable, I would be super tense and the orgasms did not feel right. Then I found it impossible to let go because I was afraid of what would happen. This felt a little like de-wiring in a way.

So I went looking for a way to make my sessions less intense, which again, probably won't make sense to many. Why would you want your sessions to be worse ?  I guess I would say that you don't want to have the gas pedal in a car be an ON/OFF switch, with nothing between idle and full throttle.

What I found out is that some positions had a pleasure limit for me. For example, sitting in a chair is pretty limited, while sitting back on my heels is a very powerful position for me. Laying on my side is probably the least pleasurable, and laying on my stomach is similar. From this, I learned that the side position was my safety position. If things get scary, or move too fast, or something gets weird, I can lay on my side, get a plateau, and ride it out. There are other ways to play with positions for various different results, but that's the main use for me. Also, if I think I'm "maxed out" laying on my bed, I can always move to the floor to get a boost, and if this gets too intense, move back to the bed to throttle down. This removes most Terror at the Gate issues, in the sense that I know that even if I let go completely, there is still a hard stop to what I'm going to experience.

I'd be very interested to know if others have similar experiences with positions and how they affect the intensity of a session.

I will try the hard floor and see how it goes.

I find the side very good but I find it is more penile focused then prostate... find it hard to focus on the deep internal feelings... almost as if my mind gets lost looking for the deep feelings...

If I have my arms across my chest also I feel like it stops the pleasure from leaving the abdomen.. sort of like a road block.

I do also find on the back to be the best sessions (altho I had the legs up)... I think it allows you to "sink" into the bed more and allows the pleasure to come from above you and wash over you.

Often on the back I will get deep where I become "paralized" where my body feelings line it is pinned down first thru the hands and feet and them it slowly builds over the entire body...

Have only ever had Aless super O on my back.

Thanks for this Zentai! Really helpful to understand this as I have never had a super O, I wouldn't know the terror at the gate yet 😀

@zentai But do you sit on the RIGHT chair! 🙂 Hard, desk and upright back chairs are not much good. However, the single seater,or sofa of a lounge suite with like the giant back cushions is a different animal. One of my favourite positions. If you sit on the edge, then lie back putting a smaller cushion for your lower back support, you’d be at around 45 degrees? Your hands are free, feet on the floor can drive the weight off your ass,and a brilliant session can be had. It’s very close to on back on bed. I can’t complain about it.

Good point ! Zero gravity chairs work good, too, and sitting or slumping right off the edge of a "regular" chair can bring good results. If sitting is your favorite position, that's fantastic (but you already know this). I'm sure you have some least favorite positions too, that you just don't use because they do no work as good ? They can be used if you're not in the mood for an intense session, or maybe if you want to explore what happens if you plateau at a particular level for a extended period of time. I understand that this is a bit New-Agey and that most guys are looking for the most pleasurable session possible, and clearly, for this you would use your favorite toy, favorite position, favorite chair or couch, etc.

This kind of subtlety can be very important, like if you're playing with your nipples with arms crossed and it feels great, you might never discover that the crossed armed position is holing you back, and that a simple change there could clear the way. On the other hand, if things go too quick, and you want to ease back just a bit without ramping down too much, or if you want tot stay at a particular spot, then crossing your arms will allow you to do this.
