I have read many times here that guys say prostate play has caused their erections to be harder than ever before, I seem to be going the other direction! Has anyone else experienced this?
I have been enjoying this hobby for about 3 years, have certainly not made the progress I had hoped. Managed a half dozen dry orgasms in the first year, none in the past two years. I do have great sessions, I can lay down and breath deep and get myself into a 'pre orgasmic' state and stay there for hours it seems. My wife has mentioned the past few months how hard I seemed to be getting, and I attributed it to the prostate action. About two or three weeks ago it changed. No matter how horny I am, I won't stay hard very long while having sex with her.
I almost wonder if it's because of the prostate play? I can get myself into a pre orgasmic state and stay there for hours. I think it feels better than the act of sex with my wife, minus the orgasm.
Is it possible that my body (and mind) have started to prefer the prostate action without any kind of erection, to the actual sex with an erection? A bit worried about it. I am 49, my wife says it's maybe just that time for me, I hope not!!
I had this at some point and didnt care one bit.
Learn tantric sex with her and you both wont care for erections anymore... Which might get them back by the way.
My thoughts. May be a bit early but it sounds like the beginnings of ED. Usually occurs around 50. Wise to get it checked out. The Viagra type tablets overcome this.
This started happened to me around 50. Around 60 my lady GP suggested I try Viagra. At 76 still going strong. Regardless of sex or ejaculation I make sure I generate an erection 'by hook or by crook' at least twice a week. I find a little added low power estim make life interesting. Fortunately Viagra price in au has plummeted and it now only takes a fifth or sixth of a 100gm tablet to achieve it (70c). For 'proper' sex about 1/4 of a tab is enough ($1). Cost comparison: Local espresso coffee costs $4, I can't make our own espresso for less than $2 ( capital cost, milk, beans).
Sorry to rattle on a bit. Just saying check it out and go with the flow, don't suffer unnecessarily. It is a good time to be alive.

I strongly advocate against almost everything in this message. Don't ruin your health only for the fear of unfit erection. Viagra is disastrous. E-stim is addictive, compulsive and numbing.
The healthy treatments for ED are kegels and rebalancing yourself (physically, mentally, emotionally, plus healthy food and sleep). If it doesn't work at least you'll become a master tantrist and give yourself and your wife more pleasure than most will ever have.
Yeah, totally opposed to Viagra for sure. I almost fear the pleasure I feel in my prostate is causing this. Because my wife can lube up and touch me, and I will stay plenty hard through the entire handjob. And if she touches in all the right spots, I can feel the pleasure in my prostate. I dont feel those feelings while having sex with her, so I fear it's almost 'boring' to me. I have a fear that if I ever cross the threshold into Multiple Prostate Orgasms, I may not even be able to have 'regular' sex at all.
I had some ed issues around the time I turned 50. I talked to my doctor and he suggested I try a new product on the market "viagra". He said I had 2 things working against me my large size and my age, but as healthy an individual I was in my exercising and det he was puzzled why I was having . After using samples of Viagra I got a prescription from my doctor but it didn't always work. Plus it made me red and flushed. The wife and I did a lot of research on the internet and we tried several things. The cock pump worked most of the times, cockrings too and we tried some butt plugs too which seemed to work the best. My wife would normally suck me hard then add enough warming k-y so my cock could slip in. Sometimes she'd stroked me a while and my erection was big but spongy, not hard enough to penetrate. I did enjoy the handjobs with a butt plug it but it just wasn't fair to the wife. One of my friends was having a similiar problem and luckily confided in me. Seemed his recent problem was his blood pressure meds. Ii realized about 9 months ago my health care provider changed mine to a new generic. Made an appointment with my doctor he prescribe something different and guess what, no more ed problems.
One good thing that happened is I bought my first aneros from high island health, still have it with its wire tabs but prefer my progasm. My doctor said my prostate now is the size of a 40yo's, guess the aneros helps. Do my exercises (riding) everyother day, wife makes sure I do them too unless it's a pegging night
Well, we all make mistakes, but I am still happy, satisfied and content!
At 76 it is still amazing. My partner is satisfied. If you read my former post please note I titrate my dose considerably this applies to my occasional tiny current estim which is limited to my BC muscle. There is no numbing effect nor with Viagra is there any flushing or other after effects. My journey with Aneros is very much at the fore front as well.
I merely account my experience.

Lucky you if it all works good.
But these are very debatable recomendations to be made to others. If other drugs have long replaced viagra it is for good reasons, viagra is NOT healthy. No drugs are by the way.
@isvara,interesting to see your experiences, particularly as we are almost the same age.
15 years ago, I allowed myself to be treated with penile injections to solve an ED problem but it all became too difficult, too costly and too inconvenient. I also doubted that it was doing me much good in the long term.
About 4 years later, I was prescribed Viagra but reacted badly to it. It gave me severe flushing and itchy palms etc. Vowed I would never return to that solution.
Just ten years ago, I started using Cialis. This worked well until about a year ago when it began to fail. This year, Cialis simply seems not to be working at all, and an experimental prescription of Levitra doesn't seem to be working either.
I'm seriously beginning to wonder if my regular use of Aneros devices is contributing to ED and last week, my wife even asked the same question!
With some trepidation of being flamed again, I humbly suggest the recommended Viagra dose is too high. Like the first oral contraceptives - just put the packet in your pocket. I have titrated the dose to a fragment of a tablet. Just enough to get an erection. It may be for a short time. I also with my GPs approval use .25mg of 5% Androforte cream (testosterone). I try to live a balanced life and "walk on two feet" not too east and not too west, using what ever means ancient tradition and modern science offers - the best of both worlds.
ED is quite demoralizing, it was for me until I recognized it and took steps to deal with it. I am just saying what worked for me as it may be a godsend for others.
I also want to say I had problems for about 10 years (50 - 60). Then again with painful Ejs at around 70, then Aneros relaxed the prostate stress and it has been fun ever since. I am quite surprised. I also learnt to relax the BC muscle esp nearing Ej to let nature take its course. The mini estim (EMS not TENS) is to keep the BC muscle in trim. So it has been a bumpy ride.
And two days ago I had my first continuous prostate contractions just slight but yes....... More I hope!
On another point as once was said:
All chemicals are dangerous the worst being Dihydrogen monoxide. Most people die sometime after taking this! Where will it end!
@Isvara
You won't be flamed by me. No reason to. I just couldn't let pass a message sustaining pharmaceuticals' propaganda. I know it was unintentional. But this propaganda as so powerfully invaded the whole society it seems necessary not to add to it one bit.
Facts:
These drugs work only for some people, not the majority (of those with ED). Most people using it actually don't use it for ED. Even when it works it's effect is usually not as strong as what is sold to us (nowhere comparable to a regular healthy erection). It can be pretty uncomfortable. It has many side effects, some even dangerous. Stats show that most aged people finally quit it despite their doctors trying on them every drug the labs lobby them to sell. Both scientists and society would have you think many weird things about erections, truth is we don't know much.
Now for the good news:
Old men and women have a easier time relaxing and many loving couples end up discovering pleasures unknown to others. Erections are no automatic and they don't need to be. If your wife is passed her fertility days you don't really need an erection for anything. You are no less a man for not commending it, this is not how it works. There are so many ways for the two to share amazing orgasms, feeling sorry is nearly comical.
@Isvara, Continue to listen to the advice of your doctors but you should also listen to your body. There are many life-saving drugs that have negative affects to some other body part. Prednisone is an example. It allows a asthmatic person to breathe but it might be damaging their liver. It's better to be alive than dead with a healthy liver.
Viagra has helped many people. But you need to be careful, as it sounds you have been. Listen to your body. I experimented with a sample of it and I didn't like the way it made me feel. Kinda like a hangover.
Hi, we have hijacked this thread. @JRS7 opened the thread with a question about losing his erection. I waited a bit the simply posted what worked for me and the way I seemed to have successfully resolved it for me. @JRS7 posted that he was totally opposed to a Viagra so that was that. I made no comment on tantric stuff which I could have, and it will resist doing that as it is not supportive of the opening post. ED is a major problem for many men. It can take away a male's reason to live, be active, creative and healthy. I see too many half men around doing weird things. The chemical-mechanics that enable an erection are highly complex so there is often no simple solution. We have also made a monster of the need for erections. I felt it was worthwhile to say what has up to now worked for me. It is not ideal but I think my pelvic floor health is in very good condition my general health has improved and my relationship is very good.
I feel we should re-apply ourselves to the opening post with supportive but various approaches.
@isvara, I completely agree with you. As with all medications though, we must be careful.
Maybe the OP needs to masturbate and ejaculate on a regular basis. This would bring balance to his penis and his prostate. Which could in turn bring back his erections.
Some other observations,
As we grow older we may become less instant in response.
We may not be able to ejaculate as often or on demand.
Will mean that tight long lasting erections may not be as easy to achieve.
We may need to do what we can when we can and not get stressed.
Try not to make it happen by stressing the BC muscle
Using an Aneros to make the erection harder may, in the long term, be counterproductive.
It is possible we become more seasonal - reverting to more primitive patterns.
So we are responsive seasonally.
@rook has posted re maintaining a healthy penis
This may be a misrepresentation but I think:
His uro suggests "making" an erection a couple of times a week to prevent plaque build up.
One reference is in a post "Aneros - "drug which shall not be named"" (my inverted commas)
There is somewhere his much more detailed post.
Changing diet, exercise and life style can be helpful
Be aware that we are drowning in faux estrogens which have decimated male testosterone levels
(Paint and plastics especially)
If the difficulty becomes more definite then see about it
I don't believe Aneros is a problem unless we become addicted to it searching for the elusive rainbow.
It may just be a temporary glitch and soon all will be well
