Dry Spell

I've been in a rut for the last week or so, no MMO's or even DO's during recent sessions. I don't seem to have the same butt buzz lately either. Is this common? Does arousal levels run in cycles where you just can't seem to get it going. My sessions are still enjoyable just not to the level they had been. Maybe I got spoiled and am just trying too hard lately.

Yes it's absolutely normal to have dry spells. The journey is not linear by any means. There will be times when you will go over the moon with pleasure and then there will be times when it just feels like you got something stuck up your bum and you get nothing else!
The secret to getting through them is to just keep enjoying the feelings your body gives you. Even if it's just the nice feeling of having your aneros inserted just lay back and enjoy it.
The last thing you want to do is start trying to force the same feelings you've had before because that's self defeating. Your body will get them back when it's ready. Remember, you're not in charge here...your body is. You're just along for the ride. Enjoy it!

Hey @philliephan, I fully agree with @karvec1959, perhaps it's time to pause. Like with building up muscles your synaptic development too needs a recovery phase to work up all your new experiences. Give yourself some off time. And be sure, the best is yet to come! Myself having abstained from Aneros use for a while in favor of Aless gave me a surprising ride with my Eupho Syn this morning. I'm always astonished, what else it still has in petto for me. Good vibes to you! Mart

Thanks @SOwithoutAneros and @karvec1959 for your sage advice. It's funny that it seems like the more I think I know the more I find there is so much more I have to learn. I guess that is why they call it journey because you are never sure where it will lead you. I've only been doing this for about 6 months and had really been enjoying great success until this little dry spell. I guess I just thought it would always be easy but now I know that it may come and go sometimes. Anyways it's great to be able to get the feedback of more experienced user to help me down the path.

@philliephan - I'm rigjt
there with you. My first three months (Jan-March) were awesome progressions culminating obsessions with 15 or more orgasms per session.

Aprl and May (so far) have been very... quiet.

Some of the veterans have encouraged me to not stress over it and I think I've managed to do that well. I'm also riding less frequent right now - sort of like testing the waters but not plunging in. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

I'm in agreement with @karvec1959 & @SOwithoutAneros. Lulls in the journey are common and IMHO you can expect them to happen again. I've been on this journey for more than eleven years now and have experienced lulls several times in each year of practice. There is no point in fretting about them, they just seem to happen for reasons we don't yet understand.

Does arousal levels run in cycles where you just can't seem to get it going.

There have been discussions in the past about the possibility of male hormonal cycles (see Male cycles and numerous posts in the thread Aneros, Arousal & Abstinence) being a contributing factor. There are so many variables in the whole orgasmic generation process that it is difficult to pin down any particular cause, IMHO it is a mix of variables which come together to create these lulls.

My sessions are still enjoyable just not to the level they had been. Maybe I got spoiled and am just trying too hard lately.

Yeah, it is easy to get spoiled when you've had a string of extremely pleasurable Anerosessions, that's when regression to the mean reminds you how fortunate you are to have them at all. Despite our ego's illusion of being in control, it is the body which really determines if it is going to provide you the pleasure you desire. Trying harder just doesn't work ! The admonition of entering each session with no expectations is as applicable to veterans as it is to newbies, enjoy each session for what it is and you won't feel frustrated about what it wasn't. Good Vibes to You !

@philliephan I am in agreement with everyone. I would not worry at all. Your body "runs" on its own without any help from you! That includes your prostate! If you have experienced Aneros pleasures in the past, you will again. Your body does not "forget" how to ejaculate, does it? I am actually in a "down" period now with Aneros. Do I regret it? Not in the least! I know that when I desire to have a session, it may be amazingly good! But I will just accept it as it happens!

e@philliephan. I agree with the veterans and "newbies" above. Don't. Stress out. Take each session as it comes, and try to learn from each one. And if it doesn't click, just leave it. Don't prolong a ride that isn't going anywhere. BTBOWie am originally from Philly (western suburbs) a long time ago.

Hey guy .... don't be concerned. Several years ago I went through a period where I went two months with no interest in sessions. Even when I did one they were: ehhhhh. I had a back issue 6 years ago that prevented me from doing anything for 6 months. In both cases when things settled down I was right back in the groove.

@philliephan

I agree with the agreement of the agreers. I'll add this:

As a noob with similar time in, I haven't had the levels of success that you and the others rookies on this post have. You guys know what to look for, how things build and feel, and what's worked in the past, yes? In other words, you have a good referent. I'm still fumbling about, albeit pleasurably. The trick is to change practices, toys, etc, and go back to your old ways later, maybe 3-6 weeks.

I used to be a personal trainer, and there's a principle called periodization that's essential to building skeletal and muscular strength. In short, it means that you have to alter routines to make progress--your body and muscles get bored by the same-old stuff. I can't tell you how many guys complained about their lousy chests and biceps, and when I asked them what types of routines they were cycling through, I'd get blank stares. Progress is like a bell curve; it shoots up and then levels off. To sustain progress, change routines--the bell curve will shoot up again. In lifting, that means alternating heavy/more rest and light/less rest type of programs. When people applied my advice, the progress was impressive, if I may say so (sniff).

With Aneros, you know more than I do, but I'll warrant that a bit of change will make all the difference. Try shorter session length, different Kegels, accessories, positions, breathing, and time off. One, some, or all of those might be just the medicine you need.

Oh, and tell me what the hell you did to get such good results at the beginning, damn it!

Best of luck.

Z

Well my dry spell has ended and I'm back in the saddle again. I woke up a couple of days ago with that familiar tingle and had a good morning session. Today I was really aroused at work and then had my first good session with my PBI. I took the good advice that was given to me and took a little break. I didn't use a aneros for a few days nor did I ejaculate trying to get my arousal level up. Let me just say it all worked out in spades. I think part of my problem was I had been having such great quick results that I thought every session would be the same. I also think what happened was I became too impatient and expected for the response to be immediate. Once I gave it the needed time everything seems to be back to normal.
@Zenopause I guess I was just lucky that I progressed so quickly. I'm not sure how much of my journey would help you. Not everyone is the same. I will say that I am a straight guy that recently got into anal stuff. Like you said about working out I have different things I use to change things up. I have a couple of butt plugs that I like to wear as I go about my day. I really think that kegels might be the key tho. I'm a newbie like you so probably not so much help

Congrats bud on advancing in your journey by leaps and bounds! There sre guys who have been on their journeys much longer than you who haven't figured out the things you just did. We all learn at different rates and you body will tell you what it wants. Your only job is to listen to it and revel in the results!

So another update and some additional thoughts. After my session on Saturday which was really quite nice I felt as if I had been reawakened. Everything seemed to be back in order and I was looking forward to my next ride. As I was passing time on Sunday something happened that I did not expect or experience before. I was looking for something to have a little masturbation session and that is when I started having these really strong aless contractions. I have had these before, but nowhere near as strong as this time. Every time I looked at anything remotely erotic they would start. This went on for some time until it ended with a aless super T. It truly was one of best TO's I have ever had.
This morning when I woke up I had that familiar tingle that told me it was time for another session. I went with my PBI again as I wanted to see if my last ride was a fluke or not. The pleasurable feelings started almost as soon I had it inserted. I had small mini O's for about 10 minutes and then there was a lure of about 30 minutes before things picked up again. For the next half hour I had more dry O's than I could count. Not a SO but still a lot of fun. It was getting close to time for me to get ready for work so I was going to end the session. After I removed the tool I wanted to send a text to a female friend about what a great start I had had to my day. Well the funny thing is I could hardly type a message as the aless contractions kept on coming. After I a sent a short text I just rolled over on my back and enjoyed another ten minutes of aless bliss.
I almost feel as if that little dry spell I had has lead me to rewiring my rewiring and now I have taken another step forward in my journey. I think that I do have a better understanding of what this about now. From now on I plan to let my body tell me when it is ready for a session and not try to tell it it's time for one. For me at least it seems that the early morning is when I am most aroused. I also want to space out my sessions more giving a few days in between them. Probably the most important thing that I have come to realize is that you have to find your own way sometimes. You can read all you want, but you have to learn how to make it work for you and that only comes with time and practice.

@philliephan - thanks for your notes & observations! I've been in a period of "minimalist results" the last few sessions after a break have been encouraging. Reading no that this happens to others and eventually passes helps put me at ease!
