So I almost exclusively use the condom method with the aneros, and I am wondering about anyone elses experiences using different condom brands. I have tried durex RED extra sensitive condoms and Trojan ENZ. I think I may prefer the durex brand, because I swear, the Trojan condoms irritate my anal canal. It just feels like a slight numb/tingling/itching/burning sensation. I never had this happen with the durex condoms though. I also use a water based lube that has not given me any issues. Also, the durex condoms actually smelled kinda good? the Trojan condoms smell like ass. I also made the mistake of buying the 36 pack lmao, so i guess I am stuck with them for a while.

I have mainly used a strange German off brand of condoms because they are not prelubed (most condoms are pre lubed with silicone based lube, which deteriorates silicone toys) and because I bought a box of 100 for cheap. They have a fine powder on them, and i wash it off first because it is very irritating. Other condoms I have used after washing off the silicone lube (inside and out, a real hassle for my asshole) have also irritated me, often just for the first 2-3 minutes.

I think some of us are more sensitive, and some lubes or other chemicals on condoms are harsher than others. I only use condoms on one of my toys, if even, because I don’t find it necessary anymore.

I used different brands when I was experimenting with the condom method, since I was working with oil-based lubes I tried latex-free (polyurethane) and they were fine, but like you guys say you never know what kind of mystery lube or powder the manufacturer puts on the product and switching from one brand to another often comes with bad surprises. I've had some burning and itching sensations that I really did not appreciate.

These days I don't bother as I don't find that in my case there is a difference in mobility Aneros-wise and I ditched all my toys that were made of "suspicious", harder to clean materials.

@zentai pretty sure any more Aneros purchases I make in the future will be white plastic. I love the old ones I have, easy to clean, and for that reason I like that they are white. I love the EST, but I would rather have the white plastic one.

I tried the condom method with seemingly no benefit other than some easier cleanup. Costs too much money too!

The white plastic is really the best material for this application in my opinion. Silicon is amazing but it's crazy how much dust and lint sticks to it, also there is a lot more friction. I do own several silicon toys and use them often so I'm not saying it's a bad choice in general.

All the toys I binned over the years were made from materials that were either always oily or smelly, reacted with other toys or degraded with time, were hard to disinfect, fake silicon... I didn't trust any of those without a condom.

I think quality is better today and there's a lot less "jelly" toys on the market, a good basic silicon dildo or plug is less expensive than it was 15 years ago.

My thoughts exactly on the silicone. I feel like I am running the thread away from the topic, but yeah, I don't trust the toy unless I have just rinsed it well under the faucet and not let it touch anything other than my fingers before insertion. Everything clings to silicone. And given my job and hobbies, I usually have metal particles embedded in my skin. Not always noticeable to the eye, or as splinters, but under a magnifying glass, you can see it. It is one reason I gave up on contact lenses... handling the lenses scratches them and transfers some of the metal I can't wash off and metallic particles have no business in your eye.

I think this every time I wash my EST... feeling like using fingers to clean will damage the surface in my case, so I use a cloth.

Kudos to Aneros though, I have to say after several months, a clean silicone toy still has a fresh smell.
