No, can't relate 🙁

I can get into the room, but no usernames pop up in the online box, nor any text in the text field....

Hm, did you check if sombody is actually in the chat? Like, when you are here in the forum, there is a little number beside the chat link, which indicates if sombody is online.

and even if it ry to send messages, when I hit enter, the cursor moves to the next line, instead of sending the message....???Ok, the usual approach: check your flash and javascript (for updates) respectively you security browser add-ons (if they block sth.). Everytime something (that is rather fancy and beyond plain text) goes wrong on a website, it's mostly related to that.

You said hitting enter, gives you an next line instead sending the message. There is a sending button that you can click - try that. Alternatively you may try hitting Alt+Enter, or Shift+Enter.

I hope you get things working!

There is about a 2-minute delay entering. If you remain patient for 2 minutes, all the names and chat will appear.

@anerosteam - please fix this ASAP!

I'm seeing this phenomenon with other people on chat. Perhaps something has the wrong time set?

I'll give that stuff a try, the green send arrow doesn't work when clicked either. I'll keep doing updates in case anyone knows anything

Yep, Chat's broken.
I can enter the chat, there's no one there.
Bar at bottom of web browser says "Transferring data from flex.atdmt.com..."
Then seems to get stuck.

I see from NoScript that the chat page needs Javascript elements from that site. What's it used for?
Maybe that website is down / timing out, which means the "required" javascript "needed" for the chat cant be loaded, which means no chat.

But then as I type this, it connects up and I am in chat.

Google search of that address suggests its some sort of tracking system for Google / MSN, and owned by Microsoft.
Seems it's no longer supported? https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bing-ads-campaign-management-campaign-analytics-scripts.aspx (in the warning box at the top of the page).

I'm running two to four minutes delay in completing a connection within the Chat page environment. That delay is quite variable so I feel it's not the result of some constant offset. It's not dependent upon how many 'customers' are logged on or 'waiting', since the 'entry' is indicated when the connection is attempted.

Posting time stamps for either Firefox (v25) and Chrome (v44) check within one second of WWVB on a LaCrosse weather/clock. If there's an incorrect clock it must be burried somewhere in the server complex. I find that difficult to accept since this has been going on for over a week and I would think that the servers would update at least once every 24 hours.

The 'delay' is from the timestamp when 'entered' chat and the local time when the connection is completed and the page appears. For most of last week I tended to believe that entering from the chat page, then closing history would speed up the 'connection' process. Now, this appears to not be the case when I run two separate computers against Aneros Chat.

This delay seems to be chasing people away.

Fear not guys. Once the connection is accomplished, Chat runs OK and it's accommodating up to 12 connections with no delay.

I've just realised why I can get in without any delays! I use an ad blocker plugin. One that I can recommend is "uBlock Origin".

Furthermore, the site "flex.atdmt.com" is dead, hence the delays while the connection requests time out.

$ ping -c 10 flex.atdmt.com
PING flextags.ch1d.binginternal.com (131.253.12.190) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- flextags.ch1d.binginternal.com ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 9064ms

See: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bing-ads-campaign-management-campaign-analytics-scripts.aspx
"Any goal scripts that contain flex.atdmt are no longer supported. This string is found in goals created prior to July 2013."

Twil,
Does Aneros need to change things on their end to fix this problem? How to fix this problem and not just patch it?

Yes, they do. They need to find the bit of the chat code that calls out to flex.atdmt.com and to delete it or update it.

I've sent the Aneros Team several messages and they haven't responded to me. I hope they are working on it

It's a one line fix. All they have to do is look for the line at the bottom of what chat/blab.php returns, between the two

lines.

For everyone else, putting in a block for the host flex.atdmt.com (using a change to a hosts file or by installing an ad blocker plugin) is the only workable solution.
