Forgive me if there has already been a post on this topic. In running a search, I didn't find anything in particular that pertained to my question.
For those whom are unfamilar with the term "Death Grip Syndrome" or DGS, here is a link that explains pretty well on what it is:
How to cure masturbation death grip
I'm in my mid-thirties and been masturbating daily (sometimes 2-4x) since I was a teenager. Recently though, I've run into issues maintaining my erection during sex with my partner. I feel horrible because she feels like she's not attractive to me anymore, which is not the case. I have no problems with getting an erection while watching porn, but have noticed that I need to watch more hardcore and explicit material to get excited.
I believe the problem is two fold. One is the excessive masturbation with a hard grip (no lube) and porn watching. I'm worried that my penis has become too desensitized to maintain a quality erection for my partner and it makes me feel terrible. I know the first thing is to stop masturbation and porn for some time to "reboot" my brain and "rewire".
I've seen this problem mentioned in other forums and it is disturbing that a lot of these people are young men. 19-20 year olds should not be experiencing ED. Has anyone or it is the opinion of users of the Aneros think that this can help me and others like me with the issues that I am having? I don't want to take drugs as they do not resolve the root problem.
BTW I was directed to this site and forum via this page:

Thanks so much in advance.
wow, this is new to me! i am a little bit skeptical, as this smacks a bit of pseudo-science, but seems like it could be for real as well.
anyway, yes, i think the aneros will likely help. seems like you need to use your penis a whole lot less, and to find different ways of stimulating it and also of increasing your general sensitivity and responsiveness.
the aneros will do all that. it moves the focus of stimulation away from your penis. in fact, during an aneros session you specifically must leave your penis entirely alone. many men here have reported help with ED from the aneros
but it does seem like the first place to start is with changing your masturbation habits. anything done too repetitively is not so good for the human body.

Hello Gammawolf,
And welcome to the Aneros forums. 🙂
One thing that occurs to me from my own experience of being an almost 40 year old male, is that as I got into my early to mid thirties, I found I just couldn't masturbate as much as I used to in my early years. So to expect being able to ejaculate as often like you did in your late teens and early twenties, and have sex with no issues of unintentionally going soft may not be realistic. Our male bodies change as we get older. That being said, lay up on the porn and masturbating a fair amount and place your lusty thoughts and desires upon your girlfriend. I'm sure she'll appreciate the added attention. 😉 Needing harder and more extreme porn to get off tells me that your arousal is severely decreased from ejaculating too often. And assuming there is no medical problems, you are likely to have less erectile dysfunctions issues the less often you ejaculate.
That being said... For myself, learning some restraint via ejaculation abstinence during my Aneros journey has been extremely helpful for myself. It's taught me much about what is the source of my arousal, penis or prostate, and also unchained me somewhat from the mindless beast of my penis.
If you are considering buying an Aneros, I'm sure it will do you some good. But be forewarned, because if you stick with practicing it, it becomes a real life changer in so many aspects. All good and positive though. You should probably also have a look at the web site of the parent company of Aneros, "High Island Health" that markets these devices for health purposes.

I wish you the best of luck in your life journey which ever path you choose to take.

gammawolf,
Welcome to the Aneros Forums,
The situation you describe is like some forms of Erectile Dysfunction or premature ejaculation in that the root cause is very likely of a psychological nature and not physical in causation. As such the Aneros massage devices, in and of themselves, are not likely to be of much benefit. However, that being said, beginning an Aneros practice with other intentions (diligent journey toward the Super-O) will have the effect of altering your behavior patterns away from the traditional masturbatory path upon which you are currently traveling. In this respect, Aneros use could be very beneficial in re-programing (rewiring) your mind and body to respond in a different manner.
The Super-O zone requires high levels of physical and mental arousal. Many forms of erotica can contribute to the mental side of this arousal. Ejaculatory abstinence can certainly contribute to the physical component of arousal.
I can concur with 'Love_Is's statement,
For myself, learning some restraint via ejaculation abstinence during my Aneros journey has been extremely helpful for myself. It's taught me much about what is the source of my arousal, penis or prostate, and also unchained me somewhat from the mindless beast of my penis.
I encourage you to read the Penis, NOT! thread by 'Cockadoodle' and 'rook's thread Whole Body/Whole Mind --the mental side for a little more insight into these issues.
Would I go see a urologist to see if any of my problems are physical? I do believe that my problems are not physical but psychological. The plan is to abstain and begin my journey with the Aneros. Even if I wasn't concerned about performance, I've always been curious about the concept of the male prostate massage and how incredible it could be. My concerns just gave me more motivation.
Thank you everyone for your advice. I was kind of embarrassed to post, but I feel like people here aren't judgmental as many of the other forums out there, which in itself is very helpful. I will definitely check out the links provided.
Hi there! Believe it or not, it could also be caused by your hormones. Have you had your testosterone levels checked? My levels had been low for over 5 years and the doctors dissmissed my concerns many times. I began hormone replacement therapy and it does make a difference! At your age, your T levels should be at least at 600. Just food for thought! Good luck!
I have not. I'm guessing that testosterone levels is not part of the bi-annual thank you exam. I will make sure to mention it to my doctor next visit.
