Can Proscar (Finasteride) be preventing my Super-O's?

Hey guys, I've been browsing this forum for several months and it has inspired me to buy (in order) a Helix, Progasm, and just now recently a MGX. I've had the Helix the longest so I've had the most success with it so far. As of right now I've been able to achieve small, faint multiple orgasms which are very enjoyable, but I can seem to get over the edge to experience this famous Super-O everybody has been talking about.

I currently take 1.25 mg of Proscar (Finasteride) for hair loss, and thankfully it works very well as I look like I never lost any hair. My concern is though, that this drug was originally intended to prevent the enlargement of the prostate by blocking the hormone DHT, the same hormone that causes hair loss. The only side effects I've noticed from this drug is only a slight loss of sex drive and it's slightly more difficult to achieve and maintain an erection. The side effects are very minor and do not affect my healthy sex life, I do not regret taking this pill.

But I'm curious if this drug has any affect on the Aneros device and may be preventing me from getting a Super-O. I have been getting orgasms, but nothing mind blowing as others have described. I'm a little frusterated because I know the Aneros works, but I want to experience it at it's full potential. Has anybody else used Proscar (Finasteride) and achieved a Super-O? Does anybody has any advise or theories on what's going on?

Hi JayD,

I just did a check on Finasteride, and one of the potential side effects listed is “Decreased sexual ability/desire may occur.” So in answer to your question is it preventing you from getting a Super-O, the answer is MAYBE. The Super-O is elusive whether you are on medications or not. Clearly, you have noticed some impairment to your sex drive. Arousal is a critical component to instigating a Super-O, so anything which diminishes arousal amplification will be a hindrance but not necessarily a complete blockage. You might talk to your doctor about lowering the dosage or consider the mega-dosage omega-3 diet that has been touted on this Forum for increasing arousal. From your description this has only a small effect on your sex life, so I suspect that you will be able to experience a Super-O, it just make take more time to fine tune your techniques.
