Can Aneros cause prostatitis?

I haven't used my Aneros in ages because after months of use, I came down with my first ever case of mild prostatitis (I'm 27). I felt there might have been some correlation so I discontinued use and it went away. Is there anyone that might be able to expand on this and tell me what the issue might have been? I was only using it every other day at most. There was one time where I kind of sat on it without the handle cut off. Maybe that caused too much undue pressure resulting in an infection?

Thanks.

Hi Just checkingWas your prostatitis medically diagnosed?
Did you have a course of antibiotics? or what treatment did you have.
What model Aneros did you sit on?

Have you tried using a smaller model?
The infection may not have anything to do with the Aneros as such. There are many possible causes.

An Aneros properly used should not cause prostatitis. If anything, regular use and other prostate and sexual health measures should reduce the chances for having it.

Sitting on the Aneros with the tail cut off may have caused you to place more pressure upon the prostate bed area in your rectum but this should have only caused some limited soreness lasting perhaps a few days. As isvara asked, did you have a medical diagnosis confirming it?

I did go to the doctor for a rectal exam and she did conclude it was minor prostatitis. By that point I had already discontinued Aneros usage and was healing so she did not thing antibiotics were necessary. My model was a helix

It sounds more like bruising and then irritation ( not prostitis as such) as you said you were still using the aneros after sitting on it. I am not medical but I can't see how using a helix could cause a prostate infection unless perhaps the helix was not clean, even then it is inserted into the rectum so is isolated. I find the helix a bit too aggressive. I use a SGX. Even so I am very gentle with my prostate as I know it can bruise easily.
Did the doctor comment on you using a prostate massager? Did she freak out?

In that your doc didn't feel antibiotics were necessary, she must have concluded it was minor and non-bacterial, that is to say, not infected, prostatitis. This should clear over time with simple care. Take several days off Aneros use and then resume gentle massage activities.

I did not tell the doctor that I had engaged in any sort of anal play.

Perhaps it was some sort of bruising. It's been cleared up for a while now, I just never got back into using my aneros because I'm afraid it will happen again. I wanted to clear the air to make sure it wasn't the cause before I attempt to use it again.

It did take a few weeks to fully go away though.

Just be very gentle on insertion, make sure the angle is well back, that is, almost pivot the aneros with the P-tab near/on the perineum. This is to avoid hitting the prostate which maybe protective of itself. I have to watch this as I have BHP. The helix should come to rest on the prostate. Be patient with any PC/BC contractions, perhaps let the prostate call the tune. This should make it a gentle beginning with no great anxiety. Thank you for keeping us informed as it is all knowledge for the forum.
I hope all goes very well for you
