I won't stop to explain the science or anything, because I don't understand it myself.

I downloaded this tool when I was trying ways to artificially induce lucid dreaming, and ended up using it as a meditation tool. The tone really does seem to make me space out - or pay more attention, or want to sleep, or whatever it is I set it to do. (I won't rule out the possibility of placebo, but the science I read behind it convinced me it should work)

I won't attempt, again, to explain how exactly my idea is this could be used in conjunction with the Aneros experience, as I'm still woefully non-experienced in this regard. I just thought I'd bring it to the community's attention in case one of you guys can figure out how to use it to augment a session.

There is no built-in preset for arousal but it might be possible to use an existing mode in a certain context, or to create a new one which works for that means.

When I get my helix, I'm going to try to do a little research with this myself. It'd be great if more of us took a look at it though. 🙂

The idea is your brain has an operating frequency, the collective rate at which neurons are being fired. They say it's possible to change the operating frequency by giving your brain something to
"tune" into, or sync up with. The frequencies we are talking about are well below audible range about 2 - 30 Hz. A good site for frequency info is at: http://www.nwbotanicals.org/oak/newphysics/brainwave.htm

When you mix two signals together you get out both of the original signals, the sum (mix) of the two signals and the difference (minus) of the two signals. With binaural beats you feed each ear one signal and your brain does the mixing and focuses in on the difference of the two signals. So by taking two audio tones you can hear, well above 40 Hz, with one tone at a slightly different frequency than the other, your brain will pick up on that difference and you can effectively hear 6 Hz or whatever you want. You can also do this visually by flashing light at these rates, that is if it doesn't cause a seizure first.

It is possible to hook up electrodes to your temples and measure the frequency your brain is currently running at. It requires some high performance parts not available from radio shack, but still cost effective to build.

I would imagine having a box to measure the frequency your brain is at and tracking that frequency during a few sessions would be the way to know for sure.

Plans and schematics for such a box are available at: http://openeeg.sourceforge.net/doc/index.html

If I'm not mistaken, I’m sure I've heard binaural beats in the HypnAnerossession mp3 download by Rumel.

Thanks for the find Anon17564.

Anon17564,

FYI, one of the most popular and regularly referenced music recordings on this Forum is ‘Kelly Howell’s ECSTACY which uses brainwave entrainment through binaural beat technology. I also employed that same technique in the production of “HypnAerosession” . You can use the Search function to find reviews and further information about these.

I tried this bwgen a year or so ago. I did not find it very helpful when using the aneros, the noises were just too strong and sometimes distracting. I still use that brainsync ecstacy recording quite often with my aneros sessions however. I highly recommend it.

Now, I did find a use for bwgen. It is one of the absolute best cures for insomnia. Sometimes I suffer from insomnia when I really do need to get some sleep. I hate the idea of taking sleep medication, as I have had personal experience with people in my family getting hooked on that stuff just to be able to sleep at all. Anyway, bwgen has some excellent tracks that put me out of it in 10-20 minutes, and it has cracked even the worst insomnia. Best of all, it is entirely natural and drug free!

Good observations by Marty re: the flashing/strobe light. MartyB's mention of seizure is important.

If one is going to play with this, have a buddy around for the first several tries just in case there's a latent condition (undiagnosed Epilepsy, history of LSD abuse, etc.) that might result in physical injury.

Also Google for
and .

Military tests for PSE are done during an eeg with a board neurologist reading the eeg in real time. The test is aborted at the first sign of trouble before a seizure occurs. I was first tested in the late '50s and during the brain wave capture and pull-off phases of the test the visual effects were amazing. The sense of "uneasiness" was tough to endure because the brain is really being 'horsed around.' Good news was that I wasn't subject to flicker vertigo or PSE and was able to continue doing my thing.

My psychologist makes his own tracks and explained the different types of waves that are used. He said the most effective ones are "click tracks", but they are not widely in use. The commercially-available CDs mostly use an old type of wave that is quite out of date... not effective in most cases. Sorry I can't remember the different types of waves. See if you can find a click track!

Hello rainstomp, 🙂

Ask your psychologist if he/she can provide some links to material with these "click tracks". It certainly would be interesting to compare the differences in results.

I listened to Ecstacy a couple of times, didn’t really do much for me other than to give me a low grade headache.
