Bring a piece of leather to bite on when they're removing the strips! LOL

You'll have to let us know if it's worth it after.

I was also very nervous my first time....but more nervous about being naked and having my junk and crack handled and stripped of hair by a complete stranger than being nervous about pain. Being a straight male I was also worried my esthetician or others may think I'm some kind of deviant. Lots of men and women wax for various reasons and in the end WHO CARES! Do what makes you happy and everyone else can go screw themselves. 🙂

My personal reasons are medical and hygiene. I have psoriasis and being hairless helps with tanning and applying ointments to treat it.

I also can't stand the feel body hair. When it grows out I am constantly uncomfortable.

I've basically done everything from the neck down in 1 session. Its not that bad, but then I have a very high pain tolerance.

Pain is minimal if your esthetician is very experienced.

#1 rule: Follow your estheticians before and after instructions.

Tips I learned from my esthetician.

You hair must be at least 1/4" in length. The shorter it is the harder it is to remove.

Take some tylenol and ibuprofen an hour before appt. Very important. Will help with pain and inflammation.

Wash well and exfoliate before you go. You can buy exfoliating wash gloves cheap at most dollar stores.

Do not shower for 12-24hrs afterwards. When you do shower for the first time after, lightly exfoliate as your skin will still be very sensitive. Best to use a moisturizing hypoallergenic non scented soap. Dove works well.

Moisturize. You have 2 options. You can apply babyoil in the shower at the very end, then towel off or you can use hypoallergenic lotion after you dry. Babyoil in the shower is easier and faster. A very good home made alternative to babyoil is coconut oil with teatree oil (this is best by far). have to buy ingredients and mix yourself. Coconut oil is very good for your skin and teatree oil is a natural antiseptic/antimicrobial. Teatree oil doesn't smell great so adding an essential oil like orange or lavender is helpful.

Exfoliating, moisturizing (and teatree oil) after every shower all help minimize/prevent/treat ingrown hairs.

In the end, its totally worth the little bit of pain, time and money especially if you repeat every time your hair reaches 1/2".

Please post your thoughts after your appointment.

Just to post an update:

I had the Brazilian wax yesterday afternoon. I found a woman who had her own salon and specialized in male waxing. Her reviews were fantastic and the price was only $35 before tip which seemed very reasonable. In short, it was completely worth every penny.

One of my friends had recently gotten a Brazilian wax done and he said they left all the hat around his shaft and didn't touch his scrotum at all. So that was what I was expecting and boy was I ever wrong.

After getting undressed and covering up I laid on my back on the table. She came in and wasted no time getting to work on the pubic area. The first few pulls were a little more painful than I expected but that was the worst of the entire appointment. She worked her way down from there. She was grabbing my shaft and moving it out of her way when needed. She did my shaft and sack as well which hurt the least probably. For those sensitive areas she used something different rather than the paper like everywhere else. After the front side was done she inspected her work and tweezed any stragglers. She then asked me to flip over and get on my hands and knees to do the ass and crack.

I can't wait for my next trip back home to get another from Her. She was amazing, friendly and respectful.

Have you ever used an epilator? How do the two compare if you have. I hate having to shave down there every 2-3 days due to the itchiness, and the hair removal creams are not for me. I had a really bad reaction the second time I used it.

I use one of those men's battery clippers. They come in our supermarkets in a nose hair clipper packet for around $12. I just run the cutter gently over the desired surfaces and it trims it down. I hold the handle sort of parallel to the skin with the top comb on the skin and the cutter behind it. It cuts the hair as it slips through the comb. The surfaces need to be dry. It does not bite or pull. It avoids the prickly new growth itch. I do the perineum, scrotum and around the anus. The rest I just slash the scrub a bit!

I normally just used a trimmer and trimmed most of the time and for "special" occasions I would shave everything. But as mentioned above, the bumps were Awful. However, this wax has been phenomenal. Perfectly smooth, no bumps, no itchiness.

Glad you enjoyed it Rohnez....wish I could find an esthetician (very few will do male brazilian)....the one I used to use went traveling out of country so I am reduced to trimming or shaving.

I've never used wax but would use tape. Just tape one side to the hair, use another on the other side and pull. Hurts like hell around the pubic bone area but the rest doesn't hurt at all. Just understand which way to pull (opposite direction of hair growth). The tape is nice because you just throw it away with the hair. Shaving, trimming, ugh. Messy, slower, razor burns, nicks, ingrown hair, grows back with a vengeance, etc.

Clean, smooth and takes much longer to grow back and when it does it doesn't feel like steel wool. Most of my partners love the smoother and softer skin. I tend to get more oral too.

I've never done Brazilian wax before, but I have had many experiences with waxing. I have some mild growth on my back but quite heavily on my chest and abdomen. The chest hair and such has been like that since I was probably 14 (28 now). I was never a fan of the chest hair; I always believed that it was more attractive to either have very little or none.

When I started getting darker hairs on my shoulders and back I decided to wax it. Didn't hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would. Loved how clean it felt and looked. Unfortunately after my first time I didn't pay much heed to keeping the area free of pore-clogging substances and I went swimming with some friends (the reason for the wax) shortly thereafter and very soon after my entire back and shoulders broke out in terrible acne.

After learning my lesson I continued on with it until I finally got up the nerve to wax my front. I won't lie, it hurt like hell. But I endured it. Many times in fact. I only quit doing it because it was so damned expensive. For a back, shoulder, chest and abdomen wax it was roughly $110 every 8 weeks. It adds up fast.

I have an epilator here at home that I've used. Its very effective I've found although still painful and difficult to endure because you have to go slow and the session lasts so much longer than a typical wax job. At a salon I was completely waxed, back and front, within 10 minutes. It hurt but it was over fast. The other problem I found with the epilator is that it works best on dry skin but because I'm sitting there enduring the pain I find that I'm sweating a lot. Its effective but the whole process takes a long time.

I have been doing it for about 8 months now. The first time I was nervous but the gal is a pro. She grabs a hold of my shaft and moves it where she needs it to be. Best part is feeling clean and no hair in the crack to get in the way of my tools or to catch clingons!

The more often I go, the less it hurts. I missed a month during the holidays and the hair was longer which hurt a little more than normal but was still tolerable.

Good thread. It seems like alot to do, and too often. Why not do something permanent around the critical areas? I've been thinking about electrolysis. Just enough to prevent any hair from going in with the Aneros lol. I don't want to do any more than that because when I go camping in the summer, I like to be naked if I can, and I like feeling the breeze on my hair. All of it 😉

Hi everyone,

I just booked my first Brazilian wax for this weekend. I was curious if anyone has had one before...could you offer any tips, tricks, funny stories. A little nervous, but excited as well. Thanks!!

Where do you live?

I live outside a major U.S. city and found one place that does male Brazilians. I only had it done once but I think they charged $120 without tip. I'm too far from the city to have it done there.

I was really happy with the results though. And the pain wasn't too bad. I think the mental aspect of the violence of ripping the tape is the worst part. I was totally smooth for 4 weeks maybe more. No ingrowns or anything weird. They suggested I buy a roll on solution they sold at the shop to help prevent ingrown hairs. It's called "PC something", don't remember the full name. I do get the occasional ingrown hair from shaving etc. and they are a pain since they can last so long.

I would highly recommend waxing, even if to try it once. If I knew a place that was cheaper I would consider doing it consistently. I do wonder about having to grown the hair in first though. Seems to a choice of perfectly smooth then grow in vs. shaving and being not quite as smooth but all the time.

Something I enjoy though is letting things grown in for a while then shaving as it feels new all over again and is quite the turn on. I think if you're always smooth it becomes normal and you don't notice it as much.

I had about eight sessions of lazer hair removal when i was about 25 from my belly button all the way round to the top of my crack. At 42 i only have to have my butt crack waxed every 6 months. I shave the very little hair that grows at the front every week..
I also like being nude but there is nothing like being completely nude (no hair) on the beach.
Its almost permanent i just need a few follow up treatments but i can not afford it any more.
If you look at how much you are going to pay with waxing all your life it is definitely worth lasering.
I am sure lasering has come a long way since i did it too.
