Beginner's sessions: How long is too long?

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone for their responses to my first forum post: https://community.aneros.com/community/general-discussion/what-is-this-thing-doing-to-my-body

Generally speaking, how long should my sessions be? The main site's FAQ says 30 minutes, but that seems painfully short. The "Getting Started" guide says 60-90 minutes. I wanted to read more on that, but both the related links in that section of the guide are dead.

Even 90 minutes can fly right by. The feeling I get, while nowhere near orgasmic, can be rather nice, and I've had sessions where I break the 2-hour mark and still want more. I haven't had a single session where I wanted to stop at a paltry 30 minutes. Is that good? Is that bad? Sometimes I do eventually get bored, but if I genuinely want to keep going past 90 minutes, should I? Do you think that would that work for or against the rewiring process? Does it even matter?

I'm trying to be mindful of the line between determination and obsession, but at the same time, trying not to overthink my sessions too much in terms of time limits. It's a tricky balancing act, so I'd very much appreciate some general recommendations from experts and fellow beginners alike.

As a side note, is once a day too much?

I started with 60-90 minute sessions, and used them as a replacement to my daily jacking off in the evening before bed.

I think the point about not spending too much is that with any task a person does, one needs a rest.
Imagine driving a racing car in a race for 2 hours... you'd need a LOT of mental concentration for that task;
or imagine taking a Japanese language lesson, concentrating for 2 hours and trying to soak up as much as you can, and try to learn.
It's not easy if you spend that long in a lesson!

Imagine that doing an Aneros session is a bit like that - there'd be a point along your session where you will just be physically or mentally no longer making benefits due to { boredom / frustration / tiredness / exhaustion / immediate learning capacity / crankyness}. Imagine what it's like when you have to go to a meeting at work that goes on for 4 hours, and you have to concentrate and keep notes and actually take in the information and be able to respond to questions and such. It can be quite hard to do that. Now imagine if you had the same, but over 4 one hour meetings on different days. It may be easier to manage that - you can "save" information from the meetings into your brain, during sleep.
Same thing with Aneros sessions.

But I think the session length a person can handle is based on the blend of personal traits (whether you are generally an impatient or on the other hand calm person etc) and also circumstances at the time (how rested you are, what you eat before hand, vitamins, health, stress etc).

Lastly, I have no clue if any of this is scientifically verified - it's just my suspicion based on intuition and anecdotal "evidence". 🙂

And I usually do once a day. I'm not sure if that's too much or not. Sometimes I have a break - when I dont feel like it etc.

The "Getting Started" guide says 60-90 minutes. I wanted to read more on that, but both the related links in that section of the guide are dead.

Thanks for informing me of the broken links, they have been updated.

It is neither good nor bad, I'm sure you've heard it many times but each individual is unique in his desires and goals with Aneros use, so, doesn't it make sense that individual session lengths would be unique as well? There is no set rule for an Anerosession length, any time periods discussed are merely suggestions from whence you may start.

Sometimes I do eventually get bored, but if I genuinely want to keep going past 90 minutes, should I?

This is totally up to you but keep in mind there is no point trying to push your body beyond the point it wants to respond, i.e. don't let your ego try to dictate the action.

Do you think that would that work for or against the rewiring process? Does it even matter?

IMHO, trying to force your body to perform beyond what it naturally wants to give you does matter. Trying to exert ego control may prove to be counterproductive as it tends to create frustration when your body doesn't respond as desired. Frustration and pleasure are not very compatible.

I'm trying to be mindful of the line between determination and obsession, but at the same time, trying not to overthink my sessions too much in terms of time limits.

Wise thinking!

As a side note, is once a day too much?

IMHO, Yes, especially for newbies, it takes time for your subconscious mind to assimilate the body's learning from each new Anerosession and it takes time for the body to build up endurance for extended and/or frequent sessions, give yourself rest/recovery time to absorb this new knowledge. Good Vibes to You !

Personally, I'd say 60-120 minutes about 2-3 times per week. When I was starting, I didn't start getting feelings "down there" until nearly an hour had passed. If absolutely nothing has happened after about 90 minutes, I'd suggest stopping -- your body's probably not in the mood.

Also, do experiment with different times of day. For me, late afternoon (4-5pm) seemed to be the sweet spot in my day for having sessions.

@CollectingSmiles, your question sounds so familiar. I made the experience that I must listen to myself. If I am really into it and enjoying every minute there should be not any reason for stopping. If I'm already seeking for a progress that doesn't appear, it's always time to stop. As you should let go and let your body, especially your gland, take over, to go on at this time would lead to the wrong path. Don't fear to lose any step of your progress in re-wiring. Instead giving yourself some rest helps to install the triggers much deeper in your mindset than with trying to enforce success. It's similar to workout at the gym: your muscles grow during the refractory period. Keep this in mind and trying to have sessions only every other day will show you which rythm to choose. Remember the goal is having fun, not reaching any level in a certain time! Cheers!

@CollectingSmiles I have made the suggestion numerous times: just don't watch the clock! I know it it tempting to "aim" for an hour (or two) but as everyone has said, you should let your body guide you in the direction it wants to go. Similarly, your mindset is just as important as the feelings in your prostate and elsewhere. What are you thinking about during your sessions? For me, the sexual fantasies took over and I was able to blog about many of them. Of course, if you are thinking about the time you should consider changing your focus. You would be surprised how quickly time will pass then.

Alright, I'll cut back. Thanks.

Cool, I'll keep that in mind.

I actually don't. I just glance over once in a while and realize, "Damn, it's been an hour already?!" But now that I know I don't have to adhere so strictly to the 60-90 minute suggestion, it should be even less of an issue.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful!
