While I’m at it I might as well report that after two years of Aneros use with Shea Butter as my principle lube I recently went to my primary physician for a regular physical and some blood work. It had been two years since my last physical so I was in a unique position to compare my blood work results from just before I started in with the Aneros to my current status.
Firstly, the doctor conducted a digital examination – he proscribed my prostate to be of excellent consistency and size. Since my prostate is now “awake” I was actually kind of relieved that nothing “happened” during the short time of the digital exam. It had been two days since my last Aneros use.
My blood work came back pretty much perfectly normal. Nothing had changed much at all in two years (I’m in my late 40’s). Of note:
PSA = .5 (normal is less than 1.0)
Cholesterol below 150 (actually down about 10%)
EKG = normal, no change from baseline
I was interested in the Cholesterol total due to the fact that I am putting Shea Butter in my rectum about 3 times a week with a direct absorption path to the blood stream. I was relieved to see no changes or slight improvements to blood markers, blood pressure and heart health.
Regardless, I wanted to add this to the growing compendium of Aneros Health Records so we can keep track of some data over the lifetime of Aneros and anal lube use.

The butter sounds good J4.
The following turned up in my e mail.
True or not I do not know.
Makes you wonder about food.
Margarine ?was originally manufactured to fatten ?turkeys. ?When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put ?all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their ?heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get ?their money back. ?
It was a white substance with no food appeal ?so they added the yellow colouring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. ?How do you like it? ? They have come out ?with some clever new flavourings.... ? ?
?
DO ?YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter? ? ?
?
Read on to the end...gets very interesting! ? ?
?
Both ?have the same amount of calories. ?
?
Butter ?is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 ?grams; compared ? to 5 grams for margarine. ?
?
Eating margarine can increase ?heart disease in women by ?53% ?over ?eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent ?Harvard ?Medical Study. ?
?
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in ?other foods. ?
?
Butter ?has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and ? ?
only ?because ?they are added! ?
?
Butter ?tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavours of ?other foods. ?
?
Butter ?has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years . ?
?
And now, for Margarine.. ?
?
Very High in Trans fatty acids. ?
?
Triples risk of coronary heart disease ... ?
Increases ?total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and ?lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) ?
?
Increases ?the risk of cancers up to five times.. ?
?
Lowers ?quality of breast milk. ?
?
Decreases immune response. ?
?
Decreases ?insulin response. ?
?
And ?here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT ?IS ?VERY INTERESTING! ?
?
Margarine ?is but ONE MOLECULE away ?from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients withPAINT ?
?
These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life ?and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is ?added, ?changing the molecular structure of the ?substance). ? ?
?
You ?can try this yourself: ?
?
Purchase ?a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded ?area. ?Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things: ?
?
* ?no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it ?(that should tell you something) ?
?
* ?it does not rot or smell differently because it has ?nonutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny ?microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. ?Why? ? Because it is nearly plastic . ?Would you melt your Tupperware and ?spread that ?on your toast? ? ?
That is good news!
As far as trans fats go, they are bad news. And just because an item says "zero trans fats" doesn't mean it is totally free of trans fatty acids. It only means it has less then 1g of trans fat per serving. Any amount below that and they can claim zero. If it shows any partially hydrogenated oils on the label, it has trans fats in it.
There are several margarines, or buttery spreads, that are truly free of trans fats. Smart Balance is one such brand and there are others.

J4, congratulations on your positive health results.
Voyager,
I'm a little troubled by the comments, "one molecule away from plastic, and shares 27 ingredients with paint." I am not writing to say margarine is good stuff, or to criticize you, but I think these ideas are a little simplistic and could easily be misunderstood.
The "one molecule away" idea can get very silly very fast. To take one example, table salt (NaCl) is one molecule away from chlorine gas (Cl2). Chlorine gas is a dangerous poison that has been used as a chemical weapon. I enjoy a little salt on my french fries, but if chlorine is on the menu, I'll eat somewhere else. Plastics are polymers. These are molecules with some chemical structure repeating over and over. As such, a plastic is not good or bad. I don't eat plastic packing peanuts, but I do eat a fair amount of cellulose (another polymer). I've gone on a bit much, but you probably get my idea.
No problem MacPC.
If you move the bricks around you will get a different house.
It has been said on here many times to be careful about what you put into the system from either end.
Sorry for making a mess of your thread J4.
I think that I have listened to one too many politicians on the campaign trail for the last few weeks
and there is still another week to go.
Is that microphone off Gordon ?
Voyager,
Seems you can't call a bigot a bigot these days! Think Gordon has done his dash this time!

Actually, I have eliminated both butter and margarine from my diet and use an all vegetable oil spread called Earth Balance. Never was a fan of margarine. The new spread works in baking, on popcorn or slathered on toast.
For lent this year I went Vegan for 6 and half weeks – no meat, fish, milk, cheese, eggs or animal protein of any sort. Totally changed my outlook of the way we approach what we eat and how we prepare it. There are purported to be many health benefits to adopting a whole food plant based diet.
In fact, my recent plateau jump came just after lent ended. Maybe the secret path to the Super O lies in giving up the cravings for flesh.
Whatever keeps us hiking down the road.

Hello J4, 🙂
Glad to hear you use Earth Balance. It's definitely a healthier butter alternative than margarine. That's cool that you tried going vegan! 😀 I've been a healthy vegan for 2.75 years, and show no signs of going back to a typical modern western diet. Indeed there are many health benefits from a whole food pant based diet. And as I understand it, there are even more from moving to a raw vegan diet. But that is not a step I've been able to make yet.
In fact, my recent plateau jump came just after lent ended. Maybe the secret path to the Super O lies in giving up the cravings for flesh.
In my own experience, since I've been vegan for the majority of time I've been on the Aneros journey of 3 years and about 5 months, I have not found that to be the case. Sorry to let you down about that. LOL But if it works for you, like you said...
Whatever keeps us hiking down the road.
