I've finaly come across something that always happens before I have a bad session. If it happens I will most definantly have an awful session or mediocre-at-best one. The indicator is when I go to insert my aneros (helix,) it wont slide in by itself when It reachs the halfway mark. I have to insert it all the way myself. And with out fail, its just a session I regret having. A waste of time and sometimes very hard to relax in the being. It'll just not feel right. Can anyone relate, or am I just weird?
It's nice you're so observant, and helpful by sharing.
You would do us a great service if you started tracking your good and bad sessions. A sheet of paper, mark days with no session, days with good session, days with dud session. If you do, maybe we can spot a pattern and learn from you.
Thanks for sharing.
I wonder if it's indicative of insufficient lubrication? Or perhaps stress, which causes your sphincters to be tighter than if without stress?
Did you have rather stressful events during the bad days ?
I've only just come to realise this so I'll start paying more attention. I don't know if these dud days were days I was really stressed out. I guess I've never thought about it. None of you can relate? This is really interesting, I think I will start to keep notes and leave them here on a later date. I dont believe its a lubrication issue, I always inject a hefty ammount.

Once in awhile it seems like part of my rectum is in the way for some reason, about an inch inside or so. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's usually a little painful to push pass. I wonder what the cause could be. It's especially annoying when I'm using my lube launcher because the tip will pinch me.

I have noticed this tight area at times too. The device slides in half way, then gets "stuck."
Something to do with not being relaxed enough?
Yeah this stuck feeling is exactly what I was trying to point out. I have no idea what it is, but it means now is not the time for a session.
busdrvr; be patience and don't conclude too quick whether the session is good or bad. I often feel that a Aneros only gets half the way in. But after I lay down, relax and gets arousal with my sexual fantasy, my sphincter nice and easy pulls the Aneros all the way in. It's all about patience....
Good luck

This is exactly my experience; that's why I thought this phenomenon had something to do with one's relaxation level.
I have not noticed the correlation between the event and bad sessions. Honestly it's difficult for me at times to notice correlation between anything during a session; what a long and winding road!
Nice post. It's good to know I'm not the only one. I had the "bad session indicator" this week. I normally lube up well and gently finger my ass for a few minutes to prepare and loosen up a bit. During this I can just tell if it is going to work or not. This time, my ass was really tight and was just not loosening up as easily as normal. I had the time so was patient but it just wasn't playing. There was no discomfort until I managed to fully insert my Helix. I tried to relax for a while but my anus was just telling me "not today" it felt like it was trying to push out an uncomfortable turd. After I removed the helix, i felt I had to sit in the toilet for a while and then I continued to be a little uncomfortable for the rest of the night.
I can second this. Days where it gets pulled in by itself are the best. Days where it hits the half-way mark and requires pushing generally aren't that great. Just reading this has changed my policy knowing I'm not alone. From now on if that happens, regardless of how much preparation, I won't force it. Been using these on and off for 7 years. Never thought I would keep at it for so long, but after this long, I'm realizing that it's all about letting it happen rather than making it happen.
I'm also experiencing this for the past few days.
I have been under lots of stress at work and at home lately, and not having enough sleep.
Every devices get stuck before half way.
Perhaps mild constipation? I know the feeling and maybe not a good day to play, make sure your not dehydrated.
I quoted the wrong post, it was meant to be the one about insufficient lube
Definitely not. I'm rather pedantic when I prepare for a session, at least 3 enemas until only (clean) water comes out. Then I use silicone lube (amazing if you're not using Syn models).
Never, ever adding more lube (or relubing during a session) saved a session for me. I lube and relube about 3 times on the start of a session, and then again when I switch from Helix Classic to Progasm Ice.
Yet I mostly stick with bad session, because I treat it as a prostate and Kegel muscle workout. I tell myself this session is bad, but I'm working to make future sessions better.

Interesting perspective.
The only time I had a bad session is when I am a bit too gassy or need to go pass a sudden bowel movement (not lube related, just diet).
While in a session, I will never decide it's a bad session.
The session will end in either of these scenarios:
- I am tired and need to sleep, and don't want Aneros inside me while I sleep
- I am tired and need to sleep, and don't care that the Aneros is inside me while I sleep (I still sometimes have some echo effects when trying to sleep)
- I jack off and have a traditional orgasm, then when cleaning up I remove Aneros.
I never get frustrated when having a session that causes me to remove Aneros outside of the above scenarios.
Do you guys treat "nothing much happening" as an indicator of a bad session?
Because that's the norm for me.
And only the next day, when I am not in a session, do I retrospect on the session and decide that it was a bad session (pretty much all of them are like this; cursed body and very slow progress).
You will generally feel when you're out of lube. It feels like you're having more friction and more warmth inside.
I definitely noticed that I get much worse sessions when I'm sleep deprived.
Prostate massage is not just a name, it's a description. I haven't heard of anyone who had a prostate orgasm on first try and who didn't practice some kind of anal sex before. I think rewiring is actually your brain making new neuron pathways. It's semi permanent, because if you stop having sessions your sensitivity drops. In my experience there are no magic tricks to save a boring sessions. Do try changing positions once in a while, but don't expect miracles. Sometimes after several sessions a position that used to be boring feels better because you've developed sensitivity.
I heard it's similar with girls. Girls initially have little or no pleasure from anal sex, but if they practice it regularly they develop sensitivity and can orgasm from it. At least some of them.
I used to use dildos in my ass, for years before Aneros.
You make it seem like a a few dozen more sessions are needed? I've lost track of how many sessions I've had - would imagine it's at least 200 - 300.
What kind of positions can you suggest?
@lonewolf8 By bad sessions I mean its generally just uncomfortable for me. And when I'm uncomfortable I get flustered and don't make progress. Then I just cut it short and tell myself another day.
I'm not convincing myself before hand that this session will be pess than extrordinary, its just something I've noticed from reflecting.
