My thanks to the compilers of the Wiki and to the authors of the many posts in this forum I also read before first using my new Aneros. Until about two weeks ago, there had never been anything up my 67-year old butt before except a thermometer when I was a kid and a doctor's finger after after I grew up. But my sex life was showing the effects of my age, so I decided to try the back door. ("Refractory period" was the new and applicable term I learned in the Wiki.) From the Wiki and the Forum I reached two conclusions. First, I should not expect immediate results; it would require patience. I decided to give it a year to see what might happen. Second, it would also require some sort of combination of arousal and relaxation; I wasn't quite sure what that meant and would have to find out.
Thus prepared, I wasn't disappointed when little seemed to be happening the first couple of times. As the Gershwin tune goes "Oh, I got plenty of nuthin' and nuthin' is plenty for me." But thereafter, things began to pick up gradually. And at the tenth session, Kaboom! I experienced orgasm after orgasm, some leaving me gasping and panting. So much for having to wait for a year.
While I can't really know, I think two things may have helped. First I was coming off dealing with a bout of mind-body pain. I had damaged my leg. But even after it had clearly healed thanks to medical intervention and physical therapy, it still hurt at very odd times. My mind was interpreting the now-normal sensations in my leg as pain. So I took a tutorial in mind-body pain therapy and applied it. It is tricky. You just can't command your mind to reinterpret the pain or to ignore it. You sort of have to very gently coach it into thinking differently on its own. It worked. I approached adjusting to the Aneros as mind-body pain therapy in reverse, this time gently coaching the brain to recognize sensations as pleasure. The second thing that might have helped is that for the past two years I have practiced mindfulness meditation. This gave me some capacity to observe my new bodily sensations closely, but also with detachment. But again, I can't be sure. Maybe I was just predisposed or pre-wired for what the Aneros set loose.
My main task now is to think about how to incorporate appropriately this completely unexpected and powerful set of pleasures into my life.
@Eli615 first, welcome to the forum! It's nice to read about a new member's success stories especially so soon following your introduction to back door play. Congratulations on achieving your first orgasms. There is long life full of unknown pleasures awaiting for you to discover.
I'm amazed how quickly you reached that level at age 67! I'm turning 65, been at it since Jan 2016 with no Os yet but plenty of pleasures; absolutely no complaints here. Life is wonderful!
Good vibes to you.
BTW, we invite you to start a blog in the blog section. We look forward to reading more from you.

Welcome to the forum!
And you get bonus points for quoting Gershwin (i guess Ira because he wrote the lyrics with someone else, while George composed).
I wouldn’t be surprised if your meditation and mind-pain therapy helped with your rewiring (and will continue to help, because orgasms are just one of many incredible aspects of this play and as gringo notes, it’s vast). I think any body listening techniques probably help a lot. I attribute my rewiring in part to years of Alexander technique...
@GGringo. Thanks. No one is more amazed than I am, especially since scarcely a month ago I had no idea whatsoever that any of this was possible, much less that it would be happening to me at my age. And now, my prostate has not just awakened, but has lept right out of bed and has been singing the "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's ninth just as loudly as it can. I will mull over your kind innovation to write a blog. It may help me adjust to all this.
@divine_oblivion. Thanks to you, too.Using my good friend Google I checked out the Alexander technique a bit. I am struck by its points of overlap with mindfulness, not so much with mindfulness mediation, but with activity, such as mindful walking.
Hi, @Eli615, congrats to your quick success and welcome to the forum! As we've all learned only lately, there is no roadmap for us, it's gonna be a balloon flight to nowhere but for the journey itself. Enjoy your flight! Mart
P.S. "Only" Cat Stevens here: "If you wanna sing out, sing out!" - Another link for you to reading matter about the benefits of vocalization!
@SOwithoutAneros Thanks. It is striking how the Aneros experience can best be described in metaphors: “awakening,” “rewiring,” “crossing over,” “the journey,” and the “balloon.”No doubt there are others.
I’ll try vocalization. Maybe even with a song. “Morning has broken,” which Cat Stevens covered, might do.
Congratulations! You're on to something special that few men will ever realize because word isn't really out about this experience.
I advanced fast too. I like to say, if my first experience had been like the sessions I have now I would have thrown the toy away out of
fear of what it was doing to my body, seriously.
Keep up the practice. Report back often.

@NewJoyToy Thanks. Even this early in the game I certainly see your point about the experience @SOwithoutAneros Wow. There are a lot more metaphors than I realized!
