I am a newbie, having purchased my Helix Syn about 3 weeks ago. I am enjoying my sessions, and trying to keep expectations to a minimum. Sensations are at first subtle during my dedicated sessions in bed, but have developed to some nice peaks and excitement. Outside of bed, I have achieved extended/multiple hands free dry and wet (one time) orgasms with the helix inserted while sitting on a hard chair rocking back and forth. Fantastic! Aneros has already given me what I wondered was possible, although not using the intended methods.

Because of my new focus on hands free prostate pleasure, my frequency of ejaculation has gone from my usual 3-4 times each week (including sex with my wife), to now 1 or 2. This seems to be counterproductive in terms of prostate health. I always understood that the more ejaculations, the better for the health of the prostate. I do not produce a large volume of precum when using the Helix. Can anyone comment on whether my thinking is correct, or am I missing something?

HandsFree,

Regarding "the more ejaculations the better for the health of the prostate", the 2003 and 2004 studies that you're alluding to indicated that high levels of ejaculation conveyed some protection against developing prostate cancer. The mechanism for this protection was not made clear but ostensibly involved "clearing ones pipes" of potential carcinogenic cells or substances. How many ejaculations were required to convey this effect? Something on the order of 21 or more per month over ones lifetime. (Gives a whole new context for the term "one a day " doesn't it?).

A 2009 British study at Nottingham University seemed to indicate just the opposite. The study examined 400 men with prostate cancer and compared them with a group free of the disease. The study appeared to draw a relationship between more frequent sexual activity (intercourse or masturbation) and higher rates of cancer. It should be said that this was a fairly small group of men (800 total) as compared to the earlier studies. Chinese medicine presents us with another dissenting view to the "more is better" approach. For thousands of years the Chinese have discouraged ejaculation outside of procreation with the idea that it depletes the male of his life force (Qi) by draining his essence (Jing).

Clearly this topic warrants more study. In the meantime I'm of the mindset that some middle ground is the way to go. When I was in my 20's I ejaculated once or twice a day but as I got older that diminished to 3 or 4 times per week. Presently, I ejaculate once or twice a week...some months it's only once a week and every now and then I'll go two weeks without ejaculating. Over the years, I've learned to listen to my body and it generally lets me know when I need to ejaculate. Like others I often have the sense when I need to add some protein or vegetables in my diet... it's the same with ejaculation for me.

When it comes to having dry orgasms it is not uncommon at all for men to desire less wet ones. The reason is simple, some of the pent up erotic energy is being utilized in a different way such that one is content with less from the traditional path. In my opinion this is nothing to be concerned with particularly if you are happy and sated from this approach.

Thanks Brian for a level-headed discussion of the ejaculation-cancer connection. For what it is worth my Uro, who is at a very prominent research hospital, dismisses those studies about frequency being associated with lower cancer rates. Results like that would need to be established over multiple studies with different approaches, etc. I think there is a lot of anecdotal discussion of prostate health and therapies much of which should be treated with skepticism.

Well.. I to have noticed less of an interest in sex and traditional ejaculation. I am also less horny compared to the rest of my life.

But, I have however found some interesting effects.
When I cum traditionally it`s more powerful and lasts longer.
And the best part, I`m harder than usual.. bigger too. And after I`m done my pecker is still stiff as a rock for the next fifteen minutes It really impresses my GF:)
