Hello, my toy arrived today ;¬)
I want to be able to sit in a chair with the Aneros inside me, but the handle is in the way. I was thinking of cutting the loop of the handle off, just where the curve starts to form the loop, then filing it smooth. This way, there is still the straight piece of the handle to act as a stopper, but now I can sit without getting jabbed.
My question is, does the handle serve as any sort of positioning purpose regarding how it lines up with my prostate?
Ribbits,
The looped part of the Aneros is just an extension of the handle that makes it easier to grasp. It's chief reason for being there is for removal of the device. The handle itself can also be employed as a means of moving the Aneros after it's been inserted (some people enjoy working the Aneros in and out) . It may also serve some small function in anchoring the device between ones cheeks. I am aware of the dilemma with respect to sitting down while the Aneros is inserted, (it's not particularly comfortable). I don't think that the looped part of the handle is strictly necessary though for any of the functions that I've listed above.
With any modifications, remember to plan them out carefully, and start small at first.

If you cut off the handle of the aneros you may be in danger of having the piece lodged inside of you, as the anal sphincter muscles act as somewhat of a suction device. That's why so many anal devices include a flared tip. Hope it works out.
I believe that the suggestion was to remove only a piece of the loop on the handle thereby making it easier to sit while the Aneros was inserted. While I have no recommendation on this one way or the other, I do not believe that this modification would result in the Aneros having a tendency to become lost inside ones rectum. Afterall, if there is still a portion of the handle remaining, it would preclude it. And even with most of the handle removed the abutment tab would certainly prevent total insertion of the device. Again, with any modification, plan carefully first.

I bought one of these devices about a week ago and have been experimenting with it without a lot of success, but I will keep trying. The trouble is this morning after a session I washed it and was drying it when the handle part with the loop just snaped off without any real pressure on it at all, I must admit I was very suprised, I am going to try it again but I will be very careful as I am petrifired of actually loosing the thing up my butt, I don't really want to run out and buy a second one without getting any sort of results from the first.
I would suggest contacting the manufacturer. Depending on how much of the handle has broken off and where/why, they might have some suggestions for you.

To all above inquiries:
Ribbits:
Please note that this approach is not recommended by the manufacturer because it may cause the Aneros to exert too much pressure on the prostate and / or perineum. While some people can handle the extra pressure, others may find that it can cause pain or soreness. Keeping in mind that each Aneros owner is responsible for use of this persoanl item, preferences and practices may vary.
However, to address your technical concern, the handle can be trimmed without worry of the Aneros being pulled inside. As you note, it would be best to do so at the start of the curve. We would then recommend filing and sanding with progressively finer grade sandpaper until comfortable, but nothing more than wet-sanding with 400 grit should be necessary. On the negative side, you will lose the grip that allows you to guide the Aneros into position (as is sometimes required), but this can be easily remedied.
Berdache: Extremely unlikely, even with one arm entirely removed (WE DON'T SUGGEST THIS!).
Mayfield: Exactly right .

I've cut some of the handle off mine, 55 millimeters (2 1/4 inches) from the 'spindle', as I found that it got in the way when sitting, and sometimes when lying down.
I rounded off the cut end by warming it gently over a gas flame (which created the roundness) and then sanding it with a diamond file and then wet'n'dry.
It works fine and is more comfortable.
Thanks for the quick response people, I tried it again without the handle it was more comfortable and I found no risk of it being "swallowed", and I finally had a breakthrough using it like this.Uncontrollable spasms! It really was quite amazing. I never would have achieved this without reading this forum closely. Thanks everyone especially Mayfield. I will probably post again because it's so exciting I want to tell someone about it but don't want to broach the subject with friends. Also after this I will buy another one soon even though I feel happy using this one despite the handle being missing.
I've had an Aneros MGX for almost 4 years now and last week I finally decided to modify it by trimming the handle down to approximately 1 inch from the insertion base (I simply cut a notch into it with a serrated kitchen knife, snapped it off by hand, and filed it with a nail file until smooth).
It's worked out so well, I only wish I had done it sooner! I'm finally able to use it comfortably in a number of positions (such as lying down on my back, etc) which just didn't feel good before with the handle intact.
The only thing I miss is being able to give the handle a (very) gentle wiggle occasionally, which often has tremendous results. Oh well, guess I'll just have to buy another for those classic maneuvers.
Anyway, thanks to the folks in this Forum for giving me the incentive to go ahead try something new with my old reliable MGX.
Cheers
Well, at my age you have time on your hands. To keep my brain active I like to be creative .. So .. I like the Helix-SYN but the old Helix has never really worked and seemed to create 'rrhoids'. So I ground it into the SYN profile. It feels much better now. I particularly like the firmer P-tab. I don't suggest anyone does this. Smoothing the ground surface was a challenge. When the profile was finished I used 800 then 1000 Wet/dry sand paper. This gives it the lube gripping surface similar to MGX etc.
Still very much in the prewire stage, but very good feelings when the Aneros touches the Prostate. Some where in the forum the words "prostate erection" has been used - this is a very good description of what is happening from time to time with me.
