Recently I had a prostate ultrasound and the doc said that for my age (30) the prostate has already reached a higher than normal size which was 32 ml². I asked him if that's something pathological and he said no. But now I wonder when you already have a bigger than normal prostate then would using a prostate massager be a risk?
Hello, dunz.
The reason I bought my Aneros was because I had an enlarged prostate. It seems that nightly use has actually reduced the size of mine over an 18-month period. The only reasons I know of to not use Aneros are prostate cancer and infected prostate. I'm sure your doc would have told you if you had either of those conditions.
Cheers,
Dave
dunz,
FYI, the Aneros line of prostate massagers actually evolved out of the High Island Health LLC line of prostate massagers. High Island Health LLC is the parent company & manufacturer of the Aneros® brand of prostate massagers. This patented device was originally and is currently offered for sale as the Pro-State® line of massagers on the High Island Health website. The HIH website is primarily oriented toward the health aspects and benefits of prostate massage in accord with Oriental medicine for prostate related issues. A forum for users to discuss practice with these devices also exists on that website, I encourage you to check out that site to learn more about the health benefits.
In particular, you may be interested in reading about the ongoing Columbia Medical School study using the Pro-State massagers for the treatment of prostate related issues such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benign_prostatic_hyperplasi a">BPH. The High Island Health website also contains testimonials from users regarding their experiences using these wonderful little massagers. The Aneros® website, by contrast, is oriented toward the sensual pleasure aspects of prostate massage.
In any event if you have concerns about the safety of these massagers in conjunction with your prostate condition, I urge you to have a candid discussion with your doctor to resolve any fears or doubts.
Dunz,
I also bought mine to help my enlarge prostate (BHP). I was having orgasms that were far too intense. I have found using aneros daily has made the "too tight prostate" orgasms much more pleasurable. My latest PSA reading for total and percentage were really good. But I am 73, yes and still doing it. I can only say what has been good for me.
I feel the gentle daily aneros prostate massage has been very good. I also now mainly use a "natural jelly" mix lubricant using castor oil as the carrier. I feel this has also helped.
About the only thing I would think that could pose danger with prostate massage, either by the urologist or doing it yourself at home as with the Aneros products, would be the bacterial prostatitis, and you are normally sick enough with this condition that you're not going around "wondering" if you have it or not.
With a significantly enlarged prostate I would think starting with a smaller massager would be appropriate and this would likely be more comfortable. The anal sphincter driven massaging action that the Aneros provides is a very gentle, almost "tickling" massage that probably does more to relax the gland and thus relieve symptoms and improve urinary flow than an outright milking type massage of the gland, something you might get from the urologist to express secretions from the gland, not a fun experience.
For someone as young as yourself with your doc saying there's nothing pathological there, I'd have no concerns with whichever Aneros model you wanted to use.
