There have been many articles describing the tissue damage done when using hyperosmolar lubricants rectally and one of the offenders was ID glide according to one study with excess fracturing and sloughing off of tissue cells. Yet the aneros website offers this product to its clients? Why aren't they pushing the sessions lube as safer and iso-osmolar Or sliquid who makes it for them? Bought and used the ID glide t he other day and left me irritated and raw. Not cool.
Whoa! I guess I'll stick to using mayonnaise ;^)
There was a test done years ago where this very thing was done, and Slippery Stuff Gel was by far the best; it penetrated the rectum and absorbed the least of all of the most popular lubes. I think the test was conducted by AEGIS, I think. Check out my older posts; I lost the link when I went to Windows 10 and merged my Favorites to Edge. (Good name; makes you on Edge when you use it)
As with @Badger I've found Slippery Stuff (Gel) to the the most benign, irritation-wise, of 'water based' lubes. At first I thought this just due to the absence of Glycerin in it's formula but now realize that I'm more susceptible to tissue damage from hypo.. and hypers.. molar agents than I had thought when I started this journey over seven years ago. Slippery Stuff has become my standard, on-the-road lube since my Shea Butter Mix doesn't travel all that well.
I'm interested in improving the balance of my standard Sheabutter + Coconut Oil lube. Does anyone know which common food supplements (Table Salt, Baking Soda, Citric Acid, etc.) might be worth consideration and experimentation ?
Slippery Stuff Gel is my go to lube...no irritation and seems to last a couple of hours. Also love the pump bottle. ??
Interesting. I remember reading that ID Glide was bad, but for another reason. That made me wonder why it was sold here, too. I almost bought some with my first Aneros because I figured that if the massagers were made of materials that are safe for your body then the lube must be too. ...I hope Aneros separates their products from ID Glide so noobs don't think it's a good, safe, high quality lube...
@MO_Bosco I wouldn't use mayonnaise either. Mayonnaise is a serious risk for infection. That and it's mostly soy (first or second ingredient anyways. I don't remember). Look up soy and testosterone. Anything that lowers testosterone will eventually take the fun out of your sessions.
@rook Try mixing in some anhydrous Lanolin (not Lanolin oil). I've been using a mix of Shea Butter and Lanolin for about a year now. It's great stuff. The Lanolin gives it a luxuriously smooth creamyness that nothing else really does. It's like Yin and Yang. Those two were meant to go together. ...At least in my opinion 😉
EDIT
Woops. I thought ID Glide was bundled with massagers in the Special Offers section of the store. I'm glad it's not. However, ID Glide IS being bundled on the HIH site. That is actually worse considering their target consumers. AND the ID Glide they're selling over there has "doctor recommended brand" right on the bottle! *facepalm*
Having read the comments by yankeecowboy, I also have found that ID Glide is very irritating. I have taken the suggestions and ordered some slippery stuff gel. Looking forward to the experience!
I just got a bottle of good clean love from a local organic foods shop. Jury is out but so far so good
Good clean love, knocked it out of the park. Smells good, stayed wet. Was perfectly safe
I tried slippery stuff gel last night. Holy crap, it made a huge difference. For the first time ever I had visual flashes of white light -not colorful, just white, but still. HOLY CRAP. Awesome awesome awesome.
Just got slippery stuff gel and yes it produces an amazing ride. A little goes a long way!
