I have enjoyed the Aneros now for about three years. Beginning was not easy. I had to overcome a very basic fear. Is this activity morally right? You may think this is a somewhat silly question but let me explain.
I was brought up as a Roman Catholic during the 1940s and 50s. I those days the church had total power over how you thought about and viewed your sexuality. Masturbation was a very serious and grave sin and and absolution was essential for forgiveness and the continuance of being a true member of the Faith. You didn't confess to masturbating but to "self-abuse"; a very loaded term. Guilt was a core weapon of Catholic teaching. My teenage years from the age of twelve, were a disaster of fear and guilt. I was thirteen when quite by accident, I had an orgasm in the bed while gently pleasuring myself. I suffered a terrible agony of fear and believed I had done something awful.
I remember resorting to rosaries and begging God for forgiveness. I was terrified too that my parents would know or find out. So you see that there were difficulties when I thought about Aneros use. I knew that there fears were irrational and yet they had a dark influence. Though sexual feelings and sensations had a powerful and irresistible desire in me, I felt I had failed to keep them under control and lead the good pure live of a good pure Catholic.
I still rage with anger at the lost potential of my sexuality. What should have been a period of joyful, exciting discovery, was instead, a night-mare of fear and guilt. I resent the intrusion of religions into the private lives of their members and fully believe that they have corrupted the intentions of the Creator. Just think of the damage the Christian missionaries did to the innocent peoples of the Pacific Islands. Their nakedness was made sinful and Satan was introduced to their freedom of expression. (The reference to Satan is their idea. Not mine.) If they control sex, they control people.
Sex is a wonderful gift and while it's basic purpose is the be-getting of children, it is not only that. It is there also to give joy to those who love it and is a great source of comfort and sweet pleasure to those who feel alone or are in some other ways disadvantaged.
Sharing sex can be exquisite and this wonderful gift should be loved and cherished in all it's magnificence and splendour.
Since being involved with the Aneos, I have discovered the wider world of sexual enjoyment and it's resulting well-being.
Hello, Tom.
Various religions have made many people fearful or guilty with regard to sexual pleasure. As you said, it's a means of control. Once indoctrinated as a child, it is very difficult to "de-program" as an adult. I've helped my wife overcome most of her Catholic school training about sex, but it's taken over 15 years of constant effort and emotional support. Nobody has to abandon religion or morality to appreciate all facets of sexuality; they just have to adjust their perspective on certain aspects of religious dogma. Not easy, for sure.
That said, there's still no way to know if we're all going to Hell or not for enjoying our Aneros toys. (Just kidding.)
Best Regards,
Dave

Having been born into a Catholic family and was educated many years in Catholic schools. I could write a book about all of this. I've have come to be agnostic. I question everything about religion. Religion is only about 6.000 old, while humans were created as spiritual some 7 million years ago. Religion is of human making, with perhaps (my agnosticism?) some divine inspiration that at best was distorted. Indeed we don't know a lot of things, maybe most, including if there even is a hell or heaven, or the nature of our existence after death. Death is a part of the life-death-(rebirth?) cycle we see in all of nature. I know of men who have worried themselves literally to death over guilt of masturbation. I can understand that seeking self-pleasure coud be pure hedonism, but all things in moderation. What a marvelous our creator, the source of all being, has given us in sexual pleasure. Why not experience it to the utmost, and give glory and gratitude to the source of it. As I said, I could write a book. How is that for a start?
I should read over my replies before submitting. I meant to say marvelous gift.
If its a sin i am so going to hell......
There is a saying that the way to hell is paved with good intentions, well hell, I am half way there already, so I might as well enjoy while I'm going the rest of the way.
