a problem with erections

while reading the milestones on the wiki i noticed that there is a step to get an erection. ive been using the helix and progasm since february and not once have i gotten an erection. now this may or may not be from the fact that i watched porn for almost 11 years straight. even when i am intimate with my lady, i cant hold an erection very long if its not being stimulated.

as far as my journey goes, i was being an idiot and was only contracting the upper part of the pc muscle (the one to stop pee) instead of both the anal sphincter and pc muscle. i started doing both last week and i feel like i made a little stride toward an orgasm of any sort. ive yet to experiance one but im not giving up anytime soon. one thing i did notice is that while contracting my muscles and getting the involuntaries, i lose them after about 15-30 seconds while trying to maintain the same level of contracting. i am still experimenting and i felt a new sensation after about 2 hours of using light contractions. but my problem is that i cant seem to maintain my muscles.

so im not sure if my lack of an erection is kinda causing this or something dumb im not doing right.

any tips on how to get erect more and hold during intimacy? my diet is pretty poor and im sure porn isnt helping (but i love it). would it be caused by low testosterone?

thanks

Of course low-T can cause erection problems, but you’ll have to see a dr to find that out. Porn damage/addiction can also cause ED,but most importantly, screws up your arousal machinery, and that’s the most key element of the prostate journey imo.. Men here will testify that erection is not always necessary, some have erections, some don’t,I think the solution is fairly simple, get your T tested, knock porn on the head for a while, and see what improvements you make.

First off, that isn't exactly true, the milestone listed merely says "Rock hard erection" but if you go back and re-read the opening paragraph there is the sentence "Some men may whip right through them without realizing what they are, while others will skip many of them altogether." The truth is many men never get an erection, much less a 'Rock hard' erection during their Anerosession, not getting or maintaining an erection has no bearing on your ability to experience a Super-O. Erectile Dysfunction is a common male ailment and there are numerous possible causes, excessive viewing of pornography being one possible cause (please see Your Brain on Porn: How Internet Porn Affects the Brain (2015)).

...i was being an idiot and was only contracting the upper part of the pc muscle (the one to stop pee) instead of both the anal sphincter and pc muscle. i started doing both last week and i feel like i made a little stride toward an orgasm of any sort.

You aren't an idiot, you have already been smart enough to find your way here and ask for help. You've already discovered one of the keys to progress is experimenting with a variety of approaches, trying different contraction regimes is part of that experimental learning process.

...ive yet to experiance one but im not giving up anytime soon.

That's a good attitude, stay with it and don't be afraid to be even more adventuresome.

...one thing i did notice is that while contracting my muscles and getting the involuntaries, i lose them after about 15-30 seconds while trying to maintain the same level of contracting.

That's OK, don't worry about, there is a cyclical nature to the production of involuntaries and P-waves, it is just part of the nature of the experience. The frequency of the cycles will vary from man to man, so just relax and allow your natural frequency to express itself. You can't force your body to perform unnaturally and give you pleasure at the same time.

...i am still experimenting... but my problem is that i cant seem to maintain my muscles.

That's OK too, you're building muscle tone and stamina with each session, new sensations will pop-up occasionally, it is all part of the Aneros journey, keep experimenting!

...so im not sure if my lack of an erection is kinda causing this or something dumb im not doing right.

Your erectile state has nothing to do with it and I doubt your are doing anything 'wrong' per se, but you may not be providing yourself with the optimal conditions for a successful session. You may find the thread Identifying Facilitators to Progress helpful in this respect.

...any tips on how to get erect more and hold during intimacy? my diet is pretty poor and im sure porn isnt helping (but i love it). would it be caused by low testosterone?

As I noted above, there may be numerous causes for Erectile Dysfunction, both psychological and physical, I suggest you talk with your doctor to rule out the possible physical causes such as diabetes, hormonal imbalances, low testosterone, impaired blood circulation to the genitals, general dietary deficiencies, etc. Once those are ruled out, it may be advisable to seek counseling from a qualified sex therapist, please see the Getting Help paragraph in the WIKI.
Good Vibes to You !

As pointed out above not everyone gets an erection. When I first started I got an erection one time during a session a few weeks in. I had many super orgasmic sessions before having an erection accompany an orgasm. It is rather rare and lasts only for about the 5 minutes of the first orgasmic wave, before stopping altogether, even through many subsequent orgasms. In bed with a partner I am able to maintain a full erection for long periods of time if I am aroused. So getting erections isn’t a problem for me in general, nor is getting orgasmic pleasure from my toy (or without) without an erection.

@goldenboy NoFap was great when I was doing it last year, but since fallen behind. I've got particularly bad ED now, and your post has spurred me on to trying again.

@bensor310 To me, whether I have an erection or not is completely irrellevant. It's just simply not part of the picture. In fact, if my penis is stimulated in some way, it tends to kill my session. So, my advice to you is to completely forget about your penis and whether it's erect or not during your Aneros sessions.

Remember, it's a journey, and for most people it takes time. As @rumel suggests, keep experimenting!

A very common question on the forum is what am I doing wrong? It's possible you are doing absolutely nothing wrong. You may just simply not have done it right enough many times yet.

I think I may have had a semi erection only once or twice with Aneros, most of the time i'm soft. This may be due to ED issues.

@goldenboy I'm 20 days into no-O, but I've seen porn recently. I achieved a wet dream with Eupho Trident after 21 or so days last year.
It's difficult to let go of the porn stored on my computer - I had removed it all, only to re-acquire a collection again.

When I start to approach a prostate orgasm, I'll usually get hard for a few seconds until my penis realizes its not invited to the party. Most of the time it's a non-factor as I'm soft and still get a lot of great orgasms. So like others said I wouldn't worry too much about it.

However, if you want to have harder and stronger erections during other times, I have a simple tip that worked for me; start sleeping naked at night. Briefs/boxers can be very restrictive for morning wood and you may find you have a lot more nighttime erections once you unleash the beast, so to speak. I went from nighttime erections occurring a few times a night at a few minutes a pop, to having it persist about 75% of the time I'm asleep. Something about all of the "practice" keeps it good and healthy.
