My Helix arrived a few days ago. Last evening while my wife was taking a bath and the kids were asleep, I thought it would be the perfect time to give it a try. I am 49 and have never experienced anything other then a prostate exam, so I was a little concerned about the size. I read the instructions, washed and warmed it up, applied lube and with out any difficulty was able to insert it. I relaxed on the bed and after 15 minutes started to contract my muscle. I didn't feel anything except pressure. I had it in for approximately 45 minutes without any reaction. My wife spooned with me for a while, but nothing happened. I understand that I need to keep at it, and certainly plan to, Would there be any difference with those of us that have had a vasectomy?

Thanks,

M

Hi phlyer and welcome to the forum.

...snip... Would there be any difference with those of us that have had a vasectomy?

Thanks, M

Nope, no difference. This from one who's carried the "Funkist" brand (all juice and no seeds) for about 35 years. There just won't be any baby Aneroses to litter your toybox. 🙂

Cheers, have a great journey ... rook

My 40th birthday present to myself and my wife was a vasectomy. That was 13 years ago. I have had no problems with my Aneros sessions. Just keep at it and relax. It'll happen for you as it is to happen!

Agreed. Having a vasectomy has nothing to do with having pleasurable sensations from Aneros prostate massager's. It's been five or six years now since I've had mine. It just takes time and regular patient practice phlyer.

New guy here also! I've had the Helix for about a week and have been using it daily for no more than two hours at a time. I am *extremely* new to this so I've been reading the forums for "tips and tricks" in order to discover what everyone else has been saying. I say "extremely" as in "never before engaged in anal play but was curious from reading the results". So yeah.

The first session was little more than getting used to the presence of the Helix. I am guilty of having high expectations, so I was a little disappointed in the lack of response. The entirety of the response was the urge to urinate and defecate. I am self-aware enough to recognize this, so it didn't deter me from trying again. If you're having trouble with insertion, stop and try with a single finger.

The next couple of sessions were more of a "meet and greet" as it were. No overwhelming sensation, but I was getting accostomed to the Aneros' presence. Again, each session was no longer than two hours separated by 24 hours. Do not be aggressive upon entry; it will only cause hemmorhoidal aggravation (which you DO NOT want) and possibly bleeding. This is not supposed to be uncomfortable. If it is, skip to the bottom for my tips.

Recently, I've been having quite pleasurable sensations. I don't think it qualifies a "p-wave" or any of the other jargon, but I did experience uncontrollable spasms in my thighs and penis. Very pleasurable, but not lasting more than 30 seconds or so (not that I timed it). I enjoyed the sensations, particularly since I'm unavoidably away from my wife right now, but they were not what I would call orgasmic.

Today, however, I experienced involuntary spasms in my rectal and PC muscles, as if my body was trying to draw the Helix in. This was extremely pleasant, resulting in no erection but an otherwise aroused state (e.g. rapid breathing, uncontrollable clenching, etc). I think I'm on the right path, but the point (I think) is to just let your body let you know what it wants. There are lots of posts about "letting go of expectations" which, being a guy, I totally ignored, but there is truth to them.

The one thing that has troubled me thus far is the handle on the Helix; I find it to be terribly distracting. While practicing, I'm trying to find the subtle cues inside me that let me know the Aneros is working. However, I've discovered my "crack" (apologies for the crude term) is highly sensitive and that the rubbing of the handle caused by my contractions overrides anything deeper I might be feeling. I'm loath to modify my Aneros so early in the game, particularly when the handle is great for removal. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I've also read at great length the debate on lubrication. I have tried lubricating only my anus and the Aneros as well as injecting lubrication fluid into my rectum (I prefer Gun Oil, YMMV) and have found that sensitivity suffers after injection. However, removing the Aneros is much easier if the rectum has been filled with a tablespoon or so of fluid. As I said, I can't feel the Helix (over the movement of the handle) if I pre-inject.

Otherwise, I find stimuli to be key; I get much better results while fantasizing about my wife. I would avoid the use of alcohol; a Vesper might help you relax, but more than a drink or two will dull the senses, defeat the purpose, and leave you feeling disappointed in the device. I'm looking forward to the journey ahead and will happily post again upon discovery or request.

I forgot to mention that one of the best befits thus far has been the ability to identify the different muscle groups; thanks to the Aneros, I am able to isolate the anal contractions from the PC. I'm still working, but this ability has led to uncontrollable contractions (i.e. quivering) without the device in place.

phyler,

Would there be any difference with those of us that have had a vasectomy?

While I can't testify there is a before/after vasectomy difference for Aneros users, I can attest to the fact having had a vasectomy (25 years ago) did not prevent me from obtaining Super-O's. I doubt you need to concern yourself with this aspect of your sexual functioning as Aneros use is very much a mental practice and less physical than you might otherwise suppose.

grisha,

Welcome to the Forum,

From your description of events/sensations, I believe you are well on your way toward the Super-O zone. You have already reached a number of Milestones. While I don't recommend Anerosessions on a daily basis, I do think 2-3 sessions a week is more than sufficient to obtain the health benefits and develop one's attunement with the pleasure side of these devices. You may wish to check out the Polls - Frequency of Use and How long to ride the Aneros?.

Because successful Aneros use is so dependent on one's mental attitude, I would counsel you to give yourself credit for your progress to date. Please do not discount your sensations and associated feelings, "...quite pleasurable sensations..." ARE P-waves, "...uncontrollable spasms..." ARE orgasmic.
Have you ever had a traditional ejaculatory orgasm last 30 seconds? I certainly have not (10-12 seconds max. for me). You need to understand that a prostate based orgasm is different from a penile induced orgasm, this is a paradigm shift in thinking and requires you to suspend comparison to traditional penile ejaculatory orgasms. I recommend you read the Penis, NOT! thread by 'Cockadoodle' and 'rook's thread Whole Body/Whole Mind --the mental side for a little insight.

I think, in time, this sensitivity to the external stimulation caused by the handle will diminish as you learn to focus your mental awareness internally toward your prostate. Many men have have totally removed the tails to their Aneros massagers and have been quite happy with the results, see the Polls - How much "handle/tail" did you cut off?, Modifications - Tail Removal and Modifications to your Aneros Massager?

Another option that was not mentioned, is to place either a thin pillow or a folded up towel under your buttocks to raise it just slightly above the surface you are laying on. I used to successfully use the folded up towel trick with my Progasm quite a bit. Thus, no modifications necessary so the handle or K-tab is not an issue.

Hey, phyler. Having a vasectomy should pose no medical reason you can't develop prostate orgasms with an Aneros, as you've already seen testimony to in this thread. Like you, I began with a Helix over a year ago and over several months to vary things somewhat I added a Maximus and eventually a Eupho. But to you and grisha I would say you have but begun what is for most a fairly lengthy though fascinating journey of training your body to have dry orgasms. It took me about a year though for others it is less and for still others more.

The first goal is to sense fluttering anal muscle spasms when you're relaxing with the massager in and applying light PC muscle contractions (the contractions you use to gently cut off urine flow midstream). It took me over two months of 4 to 5 sessions a week to accomplish this. Then with continued practice you should be able to experience having these fluttering anal contractions produce involuntary contractions of your rectum and anus that pull the massager in against your prostate in such a way that a neuro-feedback loop is created that over time is trained if you will to cause you to feel you're building up to an orgasm during these events. These pleasant building up sensations are what I believe most call pleasure waves but with continued time and practice you'll eventually be able to experience these waves grow to where they'll wash over into full blown orgasmic feelings like you're ejaculating all over yourself, though you'll be "dry" through the experience. The fascination of this is that these are more intense and longer lasting than traditional ejaculatory orgasms and have no refractory period following, thus you can experience them over and over in a session.

I know it sounds cheesy to say this, but over the weeks or even months this process may take, be patient and enjoy all the interesting sensations you'll learn along the way. Watching your body develop this capability is I think equaled in fun only to first discovering orgasm during puberty and later losing your virginity on your honeymoon. It's been a fascinating reminder to me again of just how awesomely and wonderfully we're created.
