Smoking tabacco and the prostate

I started smoking cigars 4 years ago, about once a month then to 4 a week. At the same time I noticed the urgency of having to urinate and once I urinating, 10 seconds later feeling the need to go again. I drove around with a bottle in my car! I went to two urologists, they check me out and said my prostate was normal. Neither asked me if I smoked. My regular family Doctor's first question was about smoking! I didnt want to give the cigars up and ignored his advice to stop. Last summer, I did and slowly noticed the need to urniate and the feeling my prostate was conjested has slowly went away. I've also started the Aneros use about a year ago.

Maybe this will help someone who reads this and smokes or who started recently or has had similar trouble. What I learned was my family doctor knew more about helping me then the urologist. Also, that the nicotene goes from your lips to the blood stream right to the prostate! My doctor said there are many new studies showing exactly this. I tried many drugs and none of them worked. I enjoyed a nice cigar to relax, however I enjoy having my life back even more.

Having this problem was a nightmare! Feel free to respond if you have had a similar experience.

Experience: About 15 years of tobacco use (3.5 packs per day) between ages 20 and 50. (I "quit" three times -- each time for at least five years). This time, it's been over 20 years but the fragrance is still attractive (and the evidence shows up on X-Rays).

I also thought of it as "relaxation." In reality, 'using' provides a release from the anxiety an addict experiences when deprived of the addictive substance.

My Uro (30 years of practice) considers smoking as the #1 cause of E.D. followed by sleep apnea in #2. He also looks at smoking as a major factor in both prostate and bladder cancer. He emphasizes in keeping E2 low, early in life to avoid bph later on.

I've never heard or read what the effects might be on orgasm. ❓

FYI.......update.......
Tobacco may not have been the cause. I went to the Uroligist who found I had some strictures in the urethra that most likely has been causing my symptons. First, its always good advice to see the Specialist in this case the Urologist and second thanks to the forum members who have responded to my posts. Thanks. The prostate seems to be fine!

Thanks for the update. Having said that, I think smoking is still a pretty bad idea all around. I can definitely appreciate a good cigar, but I try and keep it to a minimum. I want to be able to bang my significant other down the road and not have to worry about health problems.
