When I use my Aneros I find that I get the feeling of having to move my bowels. Once I've finished and remove the device I produce some very runny shit. I had assumed this was the result of my over douching so, this morning I didn't douche at all.

I moved my bowels, prelubed and inserted the Aneros. Before my session was over I felt the need to shit. Once I took out the Aneros there was some more runny mess. Since then I seem to have done nothing but fart until after lunch.

Can anyone offer an explanation (and hopefully a solution) to this problem?

Some people say that this can be due to the use of glycerin-based lubes. Which lube are you using? You might try one without glycerin. I use Slippery Stuff. It works great and has no glycerin.

Aqua-Glide. It doesn't say that it contains glycerine (although it doesn't say that it doesn't contain it either). It's simply the lube that was recommended when I bought my MGX. I'll try a different one next time and see what happens.

Do you mean astroglide? If so, that's glycerin. I've not heard of aqua-glide.

Hello mrkpnh, 🙂

Water based lubes that have glycerin in it will most definitely give some men the "urge to purge". I had this problem when I started out Aneros usage. Although it took a number of sessions before this reaction showed up. I was using Astroglide at the time. I switched to 100% unrefined shea butter and never looked back. One other interesting side effect that I noticed just recently when I experimented with lubing just my anus with water based glycerin lube is that it irritates and causes a burning sensation on my inner anal ring muscle area. This could very well have been part of the problem with my early sessions being uncomfortable.

think I found it on bizrate -- a Brit (UK) product:

-- Shop at BizRate: Compare Prices, Reviews and Stores Online -- (link)

Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium, Methylparaben.

Although it's merchandised as an anal lube, looks like it's better suited for vaginal use.

Opinion -- a guaranteed way for me to get a case of the poops within 15-20 minutes and after a few days use, to trigger an IBS-A attack.

mrknph,

I'm not a doctor, so I could be wrong about this, but it is my understanding that immediately after having a bowel movement there is still fecal material left in the rectum. This material gradually gets drawn back up into the large colon (past a third sphincter muscle) via peristaltic action. This action is slow to occur (probably 1/2 to 1 hour time span) before the rectum is again devoid of feces. If you have a bowel movement and then soon thereafter perform a prelube and initiate an Anerosession it is very likely you are turning the remaining solid fecal matter into a messy slurry. You can reduce this tendency if your stools are compact and firm to begin with. The firmness of your stools is greatly influenced by your diet. Adding more fiber and roughage into a healthy diet will lessen the tendency toward loose stools and make your bowel movements more regular as well.

This new messy slurry may also be generating a chemical reaction forming gas, hence the farting issue. Now on top of this you are adding a slug of solid material in the form of your Aneros massager. It is very likely this combination of elements may trigger a new round of peristalsis leading you to the "urge to purge" syndrome. As others have mentioned the type of lube you are using may also be triggering this effect, especially lubes containing glycerin.

My recommendation is to wait 1-2 hours after having a bowel movement before preparing for your Anerosession. Then you have the option of performing a simple rectal flush with plain warm water to clear out any remaining fecal matter (in most cases this is really not necessary) prior to prelubing. Even prelubing your rectum may not be necessary but it is better to have too much lube than too little. Then lubricate your anus and your Aneros massager, insert and enjoy your next Anerosession without worrying about side effects.

Mrkpnh,

No question glycerin based lubes can produce this problem with some people. Given the fact that this occurs without douching as well, it's pretty clear that you're having a reaction to the lube. If you want to stay with a water based formulation check out Maximus or Sliquid, they do not contain any glycerin. As an alternative you can make your own Flax seed lube : 2 tablespoons Flax seeds in 1 cup of water, simmered for 7 minutes. Strain out seeds with kitchen strainer. I know this sounds crazy, but this works and it's cheap. (Be sure to prelube with 10 mls of it prior to introducing the Aneros, as it has the tendency to dry out externally). For more info on it check out : http://www.aneros.com/forum/f5/home-made-lube-organic-flax-seeds-water-14280/

Yeah, I wouldn't use it there anymore. Two of the best are Probe Thick Rich and Slippery Stuff Gel, which is my personal favorite. It has been tested to be safe for extended anal exposure without any problems. Use your Aqua-Glide for penile or vaginal use instead.

For the record, while many in the forum have highly recommended Probe Thick and Rich, know that it does contain glycerin. Slippery Stuff Gel does not. Always check the ingredients, particularly when you have a known sensitivity to certain substances.

Huh, I could have sworn that Probe didn't have glycerin, but I see that it does. Sorry, my bad. But the Slippery Stuff is great!

Badger,

Lots of users swear by Probe Thick and Rich, if you don't have a problem with glycerin it is terrific stuff! But as mrkpnh seems to be sensitive to glycerin I figured I'd alert him on that. Thanks for posting on the Slippery Stuff Gel, I wasn't aware of that one, I'll have to check it out!

I've just (well about half an hour ago 😉 ) finished another session. This time I used Durex Play. A massage gel and personal lubricant. The results were much cleaner. Thank you everyone for your suggestions to change the lubricant 🙂

I can second this. KY causes a burning sensation inside my anus, though I didn't feel an urge to purge. Maybe if I'd continued to use it, I would have had that problem. I also switched to shea butter.

Me too. KY burns my internal sphincter and each time I tried it I got the same result.

I think rumel's observation or story is spot-on ... at least for me when I've got my fiber well balanced. Maybe we could use a poll on this even though feces and scat might be a but much for some of our visitors.

After the 'pull back' though I'm usually a bit 'gritty' -- perhaps an age related phenom.

rook,

I find that after a period of about two hours following a BM, I have no problems. I don't bother with enemas but i do have a fibre-rich diet.

It doesn't feel gritty and the tool comes out 'clean as a whistle' at the end of my sessions. Just have to make sure there is adequate lube in there! Age seems not to matter.

Well rumel, rook and Pommie!!!! 😀 😀 😀

And thanks pnoman for bringing this thread to life again!! 😀 Right men! Fibre and other dietary considerations can make a huge difference. Fine tuning, or even gross problem solving, with acidophilus supplements can work a charm too.

Rumel, thank you so much for your detailed exposition of this amazing natural feces management system!! In the past year, since you wrote this, more "straight" guys have found that as they progress with aneros, they naturally get more curious about what the most obvious natural prostate massager might feel like in there. And here we again have evidence that the size/shape, and seemingly counterintuitive normal cleanliness of the human rectum, is all so conducive to answering when one's prostate calls, by whatever method suits your mood and orientation.

Rumel, the reverse peristalsis that you document, is also a great link to the Peridise Quartet and Tempo music of reverse peristalsis orgasmic ecstatic possibilities... Smoke Rings...Pings!!!... rhythmically upward all...

As STARR831 might say, we are so wondrously created! And what we are all doing here, however we do it, is all naturally intended, and as the increasing scientific papers attest, necessary for prostate and general male health.

So as always, much gratitude to All this generous open community, and to High Island Health and their Aneros project!!!

you just have to love it all and no squeamish butts about it all

I have had both runny bowels and constipation and this morning I used the progasm without much success and found that I need to release some material from the ole colon. I have gone and will resume my excercises tomorrow. While I do not enema, I need to be as clear as possible for both comfort and progress using the progasm.
