Rectal vs anal contraction, breathing difficulties

Hi,

I was just wondering what the difference was between anal and rectal contracting/-tion was? I read on the wiki that I need to swap between the two, but I can't separate them. I can distinguish (physically, as in, do it) between a "general anal/rectal" and PC muscle contraction, but I want to do it right. Is rectal pushing out (like for a bowel movement)? PC is cutting off one's urine stream... So what is anal?

ALso, I find it hard to count and hold and regulate my breathing, and keep a baseline contraction (anal, PC, or rectal should this be?) during the contracting. I guess this will ease with time. Right?

Thanks.

MyTurn,

I am glad to hear you have reached a level of détente with your mother, over time, IMHO, this will all become a non-issue.
As regarding your question about muscles, may I direct you to the WIKI section titled Understanding Your Body , specifically, the paragraph on Pelvic Floor muscles.
You seem to be stuck in an “over thinking” mode of learning. You need to remember this “rewiring” process is different for each of us, there is NO single technique or rule to follow. Your statement “… but I want to do it right.” implies you believe there is some magic formula for successfully achieving a Super-O, I am sorry to inform you there is NOT any such formula. The information written about in the WIKI and in the many pages of this Forum are techniques which have been helpful to many users. If you read them carefully, you will find some of these techniques are actually in opposition or contradictory to others, this should clearly indicate to you the variability of approaches one may employ. I encourage you to try these differing techniques with an open mind to find the unique combination which will unlock your orgasmic responses. If you “… find it hard to count and hold and regulate my breathing,”, then just do the best you can in a relaxed, unforced manner. Let your body’s responses guide you in the direction which yields the most pleasure. Above all, remember this is supposed to be a fun, playful, highly enjoyable activity, not a task with rigid rules or regulations to control your behavior or achieve a particular outcome.
Have Fun during the Holidays, trust that your body will give you the clues to enhancing your pleasure to new levels.

According to the Wiki, Anal is like holding back gas.
For me, PC and Anal feel very similar and I find that trying to do one usually does both. But with concentration I have been able to gain control of them individually.

Try doing some PC contractions starting very gently and working up to as strong as you can make them.
See if you can notice a difference between what muscles are working when doing them gently or strongly.
I find that if I'm gentle, I feel the pull only in the base of my penis and behind my scrotum.
If I contract a bit harder I then feel my anus tense up as well.

ALso, I find it hard to count and hold and regulate my breathing, and keep a baseline contraction (anal, PC, or rectal should this be?) during the contracting. I guess this will ease with time. Right?

I'm no expert on this, but as I understand it, the baseline contraction you should hold is the PC one, and then you can add anal contraction by squeezing harder, or rectal by pushing 'outward'.
As to breathing, your body already knows how to breathe automatically, so I'd say just let it take care of that for you, and once you're a bit more used to working the contractions you can concentrate on breathing in interesting ways.

Hi, thanks Fuzzy

Are you serious? Do a PC-contraction HOLD while constantly doing anal contractions at the same time? That's seems like looking up and down with your left eye while looking right to left with you right eye!

What is the contraction "method" that has helped you all?

rumel, thanks for the link.

Hi MyTurn, 🙂

Are you serious?

Well it wasn't me that said it. But I know he's serious. 😀

Do a PC-contraction HOLD while constantly doing anal contractions at the same time?

Yes. It is possible, as I do it. It is actually easier to do than separating the PC muscle and anal contractions. I had to learn to separate them first, and then found that by combining both at the same time in slight amounts is very pleasurable.

As you practice with your Aneros and pay attention to your body sensations as you try different ways of contracting you will figure it out.

Love is Peace

lol, think of it more like this:
Not doing any contraction is equivalent to an open hand
Gentle PC is like closing the hand to make a fist
Holding the PC and then doing the anal is like squeezing the fist tight.
You can't squeeze the fist without first having the hand closed into a fist shape.
In the same way, you can't get the anal contraction without doing the PC contraction. At least, I can't anyway. It's probably possible for those with more experience. Something like tightening the muscles in your hand while it's still open...
