@stoppinby, the syns do have a distinctive odor right out of the box. They start smelling stronger like poop when you use them. I guess the silicone material absorbs odors. As long as you clean it well with something disinfectant like disinfectant soap with a fresh scent and alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, it should be clean enough to use without worry. If you want to be extra sure, put it through the empty dishwasher on the top shelf away from heat and then let it air dry. That's what I do. I don't mind the unpleasant odor as long as I know I've done a good job cleaning.

As for the peeling skin, did you use silicone lube? That will degrade the silicone coating. There's a warning on the box saying not to use silicone lube.

I haven't received it yet, and it is possible the people who commented may have used a silicone lube, I don't know, read it on these forums under clean.Nice to know it can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol as I wasn't sure this was ok with silicone.
Can it be cleaned with boiling water or is this a bad idea.

I've had mine for a year, no peeling. The smell is a bit annoying, but I've found that using shea butter helps a ton. It stops smell from getting into the silicone.

I simple soap up a flannel fold it and screw the Helix into it rinse and dry on a tissue. I do it in the shower as a routine. No smell at all, ever. I use an oil based lube. The odor may be the result of diet. More veggies - less meat - low/no odour.

Yeah, the device holds an odor but it's not too bad. Keep it clean and it will become your best friend.

I've used a helix syn for about 6 months and haven't had a problem. I use coconut oil and once I'm done I clean it with antibacterial soap, use a commercially bought toy cleaner, then I use the regular soap again. The only odor that is sticking around is that of the soap. Not bad. Have fun with it!

I have used my helix syn for more than 2 years now. No problems in terms of peeling. In terms of odor just clean is with soap two times. And it is ok.

Because you are a first timer, a piece of advice. It took me some 6 months to understand how it works. My recommendations: drop all expectations, do not involve your cock during sessions (read Penis not thread), breath into the prostate area, relax all anal and pc muscles (no contractions, or hardly any). Observe all small sensations, but do not try to influence them. Stay curious rather than aiming for a goal. I prefer not to use the Super O word. For each of us the orgasms and definitions will be different. Only the moment you know, you know you know! PS My favourite position is lying on my stomach with right leg up in order to allow space for my cock. Sometimes it is helpful to have a break during a session, let's say 15 minutes and then start a second one.

I don't have any of the Syns, but I have the DeVice. Prepping for a session, I use flushable wipes, pushing them in a little until they come out clean, and putting a decent coating of Vaseline on the DeVice, and I seldom have an issue with odor afterwards.

However, after a thorough cleaning with anti-bacterial soap after a thorough wipedown and hot soak, the next time I get it out, there's an odd crystallization all over the DeVice, that requires a vigorous scrubbing to clean before another session. Anyone else ever experience this? I thought there was a post about this a while back.

Finally had my first go with the helix syn. Had trouble getting it in but took it easy and finally went.
Laid on my back with the pillows method and after a while had my thighs quivering a bit, mat have just been the way i was lying but I enjoyed it anyway.
Did the breathing method from the wiki was all pretty nice.

After about 80 minutes figured I'd finish up with a wank with the helix in, before any one got home.

Well, before I even got fully hard it was like a volcano erupting, they were right in the wiki long, slow and powerful, took a while to recover from that and to top it off the Helix didn't want to come out.

My Syn never has an odor. I just clean it with soap and water after use as with the original hard white plastic ones. @ stoppingby, everyone starts off by experiencing traditional orgasm with it in I guess, but the real fun down the road is learning how to have dry prostate orgasms with it.
