Just got my helix today and thought I would explain how my first time went.
I relaxed as much as possible and inserted the aneros. I have no experience with anal play so it was a bit different. The main sensation for the first twenty minutes or so was just the sensation of needing to use the bathroom. It was uncomfortable and I thought about taking the device out, but I kept it in knowing that it would probably subside.
After the initial adjustment period, I began to play some with different contractions. Being new to this, I am not quite sure which movements to use exactly. When doing some slow contractions, I felt some spasms in my anus. When I felt this, I tried to concentrate on something very erotic and it felt sort of exciting for a few seconds. However, through this I really didn't notice any special feeling from the aneros.
After a while of playing with these contractions, I decided that I wanted to take a break after finishing things off with some penile stimulation. When I rubbed my penis, I did notice that something seemed to be stimulating me to be more excited. However, again, I could not feel anything pleasurable from the aneros.
So, overall from the first try the two main sensations I experienced were:
-The sensation of needing to use the bathroom
-A slight pain sometimes and I'm not quite sure where it is coming from
I have read many posts on this board and one of the things that really intrigued me was the comparison that someone made to learning to twitch your ears. I learned to do this by noticing that my ears tended to twitch when I wore a certain pair of sunglasses. With some effort, I learned how to control these muscles that most people don't even know they have. I guess my question is- is the sensation the aneros gives apparent at first? Or, is it something that you sort of have to connect your brain to like learning to twitch one's ears?
Hi Adam and welcome to the forum!
Both of the sensations that you described should go away or subside with continued use. I still sometimes feel the need to urinate after inserting the Aneros and if I do, I just go to the bathroom to see if there is any urine left in my bladder. Whether I have to actually urinate or not, the feeling goes away after a few minutes or less. Try to empty your bladder before having a session. If you have a long session, you may need to get up and go to the bathroom if you feel the need to urinate again.
I remember feeling some tingling in my penis when it was erect with the Aneros inserted and while it wasn't painful, it wasn't pleasant either. That has since disappeared. Most of my discomfort early on was from the pressure on the perineum from the perineum tab. Reading posts on the forum told me that this too would subside after a while as your body became accustomed to using the Aneros.
Some people already come pre-wired, so to speak, and are able to have Super O's or other very pleasurable experiences with their first few sessions. Most of us though take a while longer and experience new sensations over the course of many sessions. Just enjoy each session and the varied sensations that come with each one.
Be sure to read the sticky posts by B Mayfield and the glossary by Darwin. They will help you immensely as well as doing searches in the forum.

Thought I would give an update. The second session, insertion was a bit hard still. However, once in I was able to get more comfortable relatively quickly.
After playing with some contractions and paying close attention to the feelings of the aneros moving inside me I noticed this sort of prick feeling. It was like I touched some very sensitive part of me (I'm assuming this was the prostate). However, it was very short and not a steady sensation. I did some more movements to try to reproduce this with a little succes, however the sensation would not stay.
Thinking about some of the posts I've read, I tried playing with my nipples some while slowly contracting. This seemed to almost connect my brain to the sensation and it was like my brain was saying "oh yeah, I should be feeling that sensation down there". However, I wasn't able to get it to stay very long even with the extra stimulation.
Anyway, I did seem to feel some pleasure from the stimulation on what I assume is my prostate even though I couldn't quite feel it most of the time. I'm assuming that this little sensitive "prick" is what I need to focus on and try to teach myself to feel more?
