Hey I am a 26 year old guy and as many have before me, started my aneros journey when I bought an Helix Syn about 3 weeks ago.
I have read a lof of stuff in the wiki and in the forums but I still have a couple of questions.
One of the main problems I got is that my lube is drying or disappearing too fast.
I started with K-Y Jelly. I put a nice amount on the toy and it does slide in pretty easily.
The first 15 minutes it seems the toy is be able to move around and I feel it move automatically when breathing and relaxing.
However when I reach the 30min (or sooner) mark it stops moving and when I pull it out it is pretty much dry.
So i read about using Coconut oil here.
It seems everybody is suggesting to use unrefined but i only had "refined" on hand and decided to try it.
It is exactly this product: Link. is this safe/ok to use?
When I try to put a layer on the toy it is very hard to get enough on there because when it melts it becomes very thin almost like water. (oil).
It doesn't seems to be as smooth as the K-Y Jelly lube and also seems to dry just as fast.
I also tried to harden it in the fridge and breaking pieces of and inserting them into my rectum as pre-lube. And then using the K-Y as main lube but it still can't keep me wet so to speak.
Now i recently bought a lube-shooter and "Boy-butter" (an oil based lube).
I shot some water-based lube inside my rectum and used boy-butter on the device.
All of this doesn't seem to help very much. What am I doing wrong?
I know your supposed to find your "sweet" spot on the perineum first and mark it. I tried finding it as described in the wiki but
find it very hard to locate mine. So I just try to center the p-tab horizontally.
A problem I got is that the p-tab doesn't stay at the right spot.
It keeps sliding to the sides and once it does, it loses it's anchor/pivot point and I stop feeling anything.
Have you got any tips to help me find my spot and also keeping the p-tab on there? (I made sure the area stays dry, no lube there.)
@DarkwingDuck, finding the best lube for will take a bit of time.
It seems for you the water based lubes dry out too quickly.
So as a pre lube and lube try::
Olive Oil but it may stain.
Coconut Oli is used by many. You will need to experiment with its insertion. (Your link looks good)
UNREFINED Shea Butter is very popular. Again experiment with its insertion
Some heat and mix bees wax and Sweet Armond Oil or Castor Oil. Search Forum : "Natural Jelly"
PS Refined Shea Butter should not be used as it has been adulterated.
The ridge between the BC muscle and the anal sphincter is a problem for some as the PTab will slip to either side. Try a couple of layers or toilet tissue betten the tab and skin.
Edit: I have just discovered the sticky stuff that is under the TENS pads. Not sure how to try it but I have a couple of pads to play with it is safe for skin.

@DarkwingDuck,
Whilst I don't have an answer for you concerning the P tab of your Helix wandering off centre, I think @isvara has said everything I would think of on that.
With reference to your question about lube, I have copied one of my posts to a different thread made recently. Hope it helps!
While I do occasionally use Vaseline, (mainly when travelling interstate), I much prefer shea butter.
I'm not sure where you are from, I rather suspect it is somewhere in the USA. If so, I gather there are many outlets for the purchase of shea butter, both in shops and online.
If you do decide to get some, make sure it is certified unrefined shea butter. Shea butter is often used as an ingredient in cosmetics, particularly skin care products. These usually contain other chemicals which could prove undesirable if used in the rectum so it is important to avoid these.
IMO shea butter has the following advantages over many other popular lubricants:
1. It's great value for money. 250gm of it costs only a few dollars and, depending on the frequency of your sessions, can last over a year.
2. It is not greasy or oily. This makes it easy to clean up with just soap and water.
3. Unlike oils, I find it doesn't tend to leak during use.
4. It is long lasting. Water-based lubes tend to require a top-up during the session, particularly if the session goes for much more than an hour or so.
5. It is easy to prepare a session. Here's how I do it:
Make a small ball of shea butter, using a 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) kitchen measure to scoop it outof its container.
Depending on ambient temperature, you might have to chill it in the fridge but in winter, you'll be able to use it at room temperature.
Spread a little water-based lube around the outer sphincter of your anus and then insert the shea butter plug past the second sphincter.
While the plug is melting, cover the insertable part of your chosen tool with a thin film of shea butter and insert the tool.
Enjoy the ride!
@ isvara, didymus, Pommie,
Thank you for your replies. I will definitely be looking into getting some shea butter. It sounds very promising!
I live in a small country in europe so I hope I can find a store that sells this in unrefined form.
Another question i got is: I've been getting some cramps, gas and discomfort in what I think is my colon? (bottom left) since starting this journey. Is it possible I have some kind of reaction to any of the lube I've been using, or is this just a coincidence? If so, should I do anything special to make it go away or will it go away by itself after a few days?
@DarkwingDuck --- I get the same discomfort from some types of lube so I tried something else!
TG
@DarkwingDuck,Iv'e never had any trouble with KY gel and regularly use it to assist insertion of any tool already covered with shea butter. It is also widely used by doctors to lubricate their fingers when doing rectal examinations so I seriously doubt there is anything inherently wrong with its makeup.
That said though, as @Theme_Gasm suggests, If for any reason you have some reaction to it, you would be wise to try something else.
As you can see it's been a few months since the advice you've given me.
I have successfully obtained unrefined shea butter.
I am glad to say I have had some nice sensations from my sessions.
Sadly, I still seem to be having some kind of reaction and can't seem to find the cause of it.
I have now tried a lot of different lubes: KY-Jelly (water), Boy-Butter (oil), Coconut oil, Shea butter and Vaseline.
It doesn't matter which one I use, after some hours to a day after an session I start to feel some pressure, discomfort and cramps as described in an earlier post. This can stay with me for days and can take up many days to get back to normal. These symptoms seem to indicate constipation??
What I have tried:
None of these things seem to help. Do I really get a reaction to all of these lubes or am I perhaps getting a reaction to the silicone on the toy itself?
What else can I try to figure this out?
I stopped having sessions because as much as I like pleasure, trading it for discomfort (which sometimes borderlines pain) is not worth it for me. I am afraid of damaging my health.
Have you tried a regular model yet without silicone? You may also try to clean out the rectum, only bottom part, just after a session and see what that does for you. If the discomfort is from the lube, than clean out the rectum immediately after a session. I get a reaction as well from shae butter and coconut oil, but not pain.
I'm sorry to hear about your problems and can well understand your anxiety.
You mention constipation but do you really suffer from that condition? If so, there are probably several solutions, the most obvious of which is to put yourself on a high fibre diet. If you really are constipated, now might be the time to get it checked out by your doctor.
As regards shea butter, it's my understanding that Raw doesn't necessarily mean unrefined, so perhaps you might need to check that what you have been using is unrefined shea butter. I haven't heard of anyone reacting badly to unrefined shea butter but that isn't to say it is impossible.
Iv'e also not heard of people having trouble with Vaseline, so I'd be surprised if were allergic to that. I can't speak for Boy-Butter, (have never used it), and I gather that KY jelly is something different in the USA from what it is here in Australia.
Let's know how you go but I think my first line of attack would be the constipation. Good Luck!
